Agree it’s strange, particularly when they say the reason to exclude power adapter is people already have lots of power adapters.

not sure it’s strange at all, most people that buy an iPhone will have a usb to lightning cable, usb c to lightning connects with macs and iPad Pro, my car is usb c not usb2. Doesn’t need to come with a cable at all as its wireless charging

Sorry i wasn't very clear. When i say it's $1.20/£1 i meant that's what apple are converting the price at. The currency exchange is affectively $1.30/£1. Comparing what apple charge for other products UK vs US $1.20/£1 is the best they currently do. They won't set prices at the current exchange rates as the exchange rate within a year can fluctuate quite a bit especially in the current climate. They're just hedging their bets which is fair enough.

Excluding a wall adapter and earpods while keeping the price the same (in the US) that's just apple being greedy.

Bit ticked off by the exclusion of the wall adapter they're providing a USB-C to lighning cable. I don't have a USB C adapter and they've never provided one in an iphone before have they? So really they spout the environment but they just want to improve their bottom line. Any links to a non apple wall charger to fast charge the new iphone's?
yes i agree some fluctuation will happen but it can also go the other way if we get a brexit deal it may rise to 1.35 and beyond. will they lower the price if it does ? i would bet money they wouldn't. But if we don't get a deal and the pound falls then they very likely increase it. They have done this before i believe after the brexit vote.

Some companies follow apples lead like facebook with oculus having a direct $ to £ conversation but thats just an extra 30 quid difference while MS and Sony do an actual conversion so its $499/£449 its a business decision made by these companies. Apple know they can get away with it so they do it i'm an apple fan and am heavily invested in their ecosystem and will continue to do so but they do price gouge customers and more so in the UK.

Yes, iphone 12 is £799 INC VAT £665.83 Excluding VAT to calculate the effective conversion rate i then divided the US price by the UK price ($799/£665.83) = $1.20/£1 :)

It's only fair to calculate it without the VAT as it's a consumer tax and the US include their sales taxes on top of the retail value.

Except the normal US price is $829 if bought outright from Apple etc. $799 is a special contract deal with 2 networks only.

I'm tempted by the 12 Pro Max 128GB.
On the 24 months 0%, it works out cheaper than what I was paying for my XS Max with O2 for 2 years. When I add in my O2 contract is only about £55 a month. I'm happy with that.

Roll on the 6th November

Just buy one of these:

They were 18w last year, new model is 20w.
Nearly 20 quid for a plug? I have a wireless charger to be honest and I only use the cable when travelling or for charging in my kitchen. I can live without using the new cable and just use the old ones. I’m not bothered about fast charging as there are users reporting faster battery degradation from using them. I’ll stick with what I’ve got.

Yeah that’s what I thought too? Most people don’t have USB-C plugs or ports yet so it does feel like Apple have done this to actually prompt additional sales of accessories rather than reduce waste. I think we all knew it was never an environmental decision though.

They've come down in price. They are now £20 but last year for the 18w version was £29.

I've been fast charging for over 2 years and not seen any degradation. My 11 Pro is at 97% and this time last year my Xs was at 92%. So certainly no issues there...

Does anyone know if Very tend to offer pre-orders on the same day as apple do?
I’ve got a 20% voucher with them

I would be betraying Apples philosophy on reducing environmental waste though if I then had to buy that additional plug because they hadn’t included it in the box. I’ll save the planet and just use my existing two year old £12 Amazon wireless charger instead.

Got dam it ! I wasn’t going to go for a new phone this year then they bring out that blue colour.. I must have it

Any one know how the trade in works when buying online. If paid in full do they then refund the trade in once They’ve received my old phone ?

3. Ship your smartphone within 14 days.
Once we receive your smartphone, a team will inspect and verify its condition. If everything checks out, your trade-in is complete. If your smartphone doesn’t match the condition you described, you’ll receive an email with next steps.

If you choose to pay in full and the value of your smartphone trade-in is more than the cost of your new iPhone, you’ll receive an Apple Gift Card by email with the remaining amount.

This is apple, they will absolutely not drop the price, but tbf i highly doubt they will increase it either. What they will do is amend the pricing at new product launches. Apple aren't stupid they will know exactly what they can charge to maximise profits. Hopefully by the next release the pound gets stronger and we get a cheaper iphone.

If they purchase it through AT&T or Verizon it's $799. It's a weird one though never noticed the extra $30 charge. Apple's official marketing does price the phone at $799 though so that's why i used that figure.

Why?

you have 21 days to send it back. Well, i don‘t know when you locked the price though...
Would rather have the money all set in my account, and then if for whatever reason they decide they won't give me what they offered it gives me plenty of time to find alternative ways to sell

Now I see the point of providing USB C cable alone. Pushing customer to move to fast charging to upsell on 20W adapter and/or MagSafe cable. Really shrewd to play around with our psychology. It comes as package screwing if we see the cases too. Package deal to screw me over. I am grateful they are leading for environmental move and asking others to follow the suit 😃

@Jinjin whats the process you do with the upgrade program how do you cancel and restart the program I’m wanting to do the same thing?

Sell phone to magpie and pay off Barclays direct. Then call AppleCare and get the remaining refunded too. That refund goes back to Barclays first then back to you. Then on pre order day I order from scratch

I'm thinking of doing the same thing. :)
Just had a look at finance, any idea if we can use gift vouchers or pay a percentage upfront?
I know it's 0% but I would prefer to pay some off and recude the monthly payments, cant find any info on Apple. :/

Think I will be getting the 12 Pro.
My personal reasons being:

The base storage increase to 128GB
The camera improvements such as low light photography using LiDAR and ProRAW. As a photographer, that’s important for me as well as a brighter screen over the regular 12.

It’s also thinner than the previous Pro and regular models whilst not really being a larger footprint for the increase in screen size, possibly better battery life and likely more RAM over the regular 12, but that’s just a guess.

The 12 max is just too big sadly, and it’s certainly worth the extra for the improved sensor and image stabilisation improvements, but I know I won’t be happy with the size.

I'm not sure. I don't think so. Might be worth a chat with Apple support

Fair enough. I never had an issue yet with getting an payment lower than initial offer. Also I am worried about the pre-order as you may not get a release date delivery/pickup...

Anyone know if I can redeem an Apple Store gift card to pay for my pre-order once pre-orders open on Friday? Just thinking if I load up an Apple Store gift card and pay with that, it'll save messing around with putting bank card details in or my bank possibly rejecting the purchase as it's a large one off amount.

Secondly, anyone know if Apple will let you email yourself a gift card? When I go to purchase on it only let's me email a card to someone - not sure if they'll find it odd if I put my name and email in both the recipient and sender fields!
