Contemplating an upgrade from 11 Pro to 12 Pro Max - shouldn’t really but camera plus move dual sim very attractive to enable me to ditch a work Samsung that I struggle to use . Currently showing that I’d get £500 trade in on the 11 Pro - do we think these trade in prices will hold until the 6/11. I normally use envirofone to trade in but the difference is negligible this year and I might opt for paying the balance via BFP or at a push PayPal 4 months 0%.

I may be missing something here, the 11 pro is dual sim already. So you could have ditched the Samsung last year.

I would like to think they would but I don’t think it will happen.

My theory is that is down to risk and Barclays not wanting to give out phones without seeing ID in the flesh. Too much scope for fraud, ID theft and phones to disappear.
Slight update!

Looks like the preparation is for people not using IUP and taking finance with Barclays for a 24 month loan. Will be an option to do that in advance of ordering Friday!

Think I will do the same. This option kind of makes iUp redundant. Can get a 0% finance and add Apple care and spread over 24 months making my outlay cheaper. Given I usually sell and pay off Barclays every 12 months, I may as well do this!

I wonder if we'll still get the option to pick up in-store or just delivery

As I am currently saving for an 27” iMac, I will be getting either the iPhone 12 Pro 6.1” or Pro Max from Vodafone along with the Watch 6. Just waiting for tariffs to be revealed before making my final decision. Not had an iPhone since the 4, so am quite excited at making the switch after all these years.

Just a little heads up for anyone thinking about going in store. I popped into my local Apple store in Norwich a couple weeks ago and was told that for the foreseeable future if you want to buy some in store, then you will need to book an appointment first. I have no idea if this is procedure for all the UK stores, but am just passing on my experience.

I don’t get the lightning to USB-C approach? is this the only cable included or will it come with standard USB does anybody know? I don’t own anything with a USB-C port although my wife’s MBP has these. I’m not sure the mass market is quite ready for this as even my brand new Dell laptop hasn’t got this capability.

I don’t have a USB-C charging brick, so I have to pay extra now to get one. My fiancé have the 11 Pro Max so he’s okay and I know we would fight everyday over the charging brick. I also just realized I wouldn’t be able to use my Anker portable charger box with this iPhone anymore

Nearly 20 quid for a plug? I have a wireless charger to be honest and I only use the cable when travelling or for charging in my kitchen. I can live without using the new cable and just use the old ones. I’m not bothered about fast charging as there are users reporting faster battery degradation from using them. I’ll stick with what I’ve got.

So we can use the old lightning cables with the new iPhones? I hope so because I have a ton of them as backup cables.

I get a message saying “sorry an error occurred. Thank you for your patience. Please try again later.” When I try to get approved for the loan.

looks like I’ll try later

Think I’m going to give the 24 month finance a go. It almost makes the iUP a bit redundant. It’s also a bit annoying that you can get pre approved for the loan online but can’t upgrade online.

Having said that, it seems the 24 months is a better deal anyway!

Drop your phone (damage) and that plan will hurt you more.

Not if you add applecare!

I’m paying £76 a month or something daft at the moment for an 11 pro Max.

Going for the 128gb pro with AppleCare and it’s £49 a month.

The same phone is £56 on the iUP. Seems decent to me!

On the iUP you don’t have to baby your phone. Who cares about battery capacity, use it and abuse the battery, trade it in after 1 year, fresh battery and fresh phone.

AppleCare+ is mandatory on the iUP.

The iUP is not for people who like to hold onto their phone though.

AppleCare+ is optional this year it seems.
