On my third apple leather case now and always found them to be extremely durable and not had a single scratch on any of my phones, and its not like a mother them.

Had 2 saddle browns which over time turn a nice rustic dark brown and currently have a black leather which genuinely looks good as new.

Pretty miffed they won't be out on the 16th... However now considering a Graphite 12 Pro with the Plum silicone... that does look nice

I’ve never been impressed by the fact the bottom of the phone is left exposed. Never understood why the Apple leather cases don’t cover all the edges of the phone when it really should see as how fragile modern smartphones are.

On the iUP you don’t have to baby your phone. Who cares about battery capacity, use it and abuse the battery, trade it in after 1 year, fresh battery and fresh phone.

AppleCare+ is mandatory on the iUP.

The iUP is not for people who like to hold onto their phone though.

I’ve been using iup for that 0% reason and changing yearly. Yup there will be plenty of people out there who use AppleCare as Apple intended and just return the phone and change up.. but we’re a niche group here

It’s funny how it’s now really difficult to see iup sign up from Apple on there site. Looks like it will be a case of pre ordering for store pick up and may not be all that obvious on what to do

The funny thing is my nearest Apple Store is in the capital and all the counties within that area are in lockdown lol. Only people living in the city can legally visit this store lol. That’s going to affect sales there this year. As usual though I’ve checked out iUP and it’s eye wateringly expensive anyway .

Yep as it’s over 20 months and not 24 so the monthly repayments are higher. Overall it’s the same cost as it’s 0%. But given the point of iup was the ‘just hand your phone back after 11 payments and upgrade to the newest’ to me it doesn’t make sense not to use the Barclays 24month option if like me, every year you sell your phone and pay off iup. It will mean the amount of loan outstanding would be higher on the 24 months after a year so you don’t see as much ‘gain’ from the selling privately bit. But both options will ultimately cost the same.

I think I’d rather pay a little less per month ~£50 on the 24 month compared to £56 on iup

Back in the running this year, have generally upgraded every year until the X - now is the time to upgrade cannot decide between 12 and the Pro Max, the latter would potentially replace the combination of the X and iPad mini I currently use for travel, or to get the 12 and iPad Air for travel. But travelling a lot less recently so cannot decide. I am tending for the Max alone.

Slight update!

Looks like the preparation is for people not using IUP and taking finance with Barclays for a 24 month loan. Will be an option to do that in advance of ordering Friday!

Then click on the learn more link in the blue banner that appears at the top

Do you know if this is only for the ones that pre order this Friday or can I do it now for the 12 Pro Max?

My target is £35p/m maximum and that’s for phone and contract, which I always opt for 24 months. I’d get bored of smartphones if I was changing it every year. My last two contracts didn’t exceed £1k over two years but with the price increase on the 12 I know this will be slightly higher. Sod paying £50 a month when a data plan had to then be added on top. I don’t see the attraction in that at all but each to their own. Martin Lewis summed it up last year pretty well.

Nice, not been in a contract for a long time now. Can you get on a decent plan for around £35p/m?

As much as I’d like the new 12 mini I don’t know if I’m feeling it this year, the iPhones look great but my SE 2020 is great too...

.....well I’ll be going for the iPhone 12 in blue with matching silicone case and MagSafe + charger.

Will be trading in my iPhone XS to Apple, who are offering £260 so will buy the iPhone 12 outright - no more pesky 2 year’s worth of IUP payments for me!!

Im happy with that!

:):apple:

...for those paying outright for the phone - what's the process?

Do we pre-order on Friday, pay for phone on Friday and collect the following Friday or is it literally the pre-order this Friday and pay and collect in-store the following Friday (I'm also trading in my current XS) ?

Bit annoyed that you can’t ‘get ready’ for pre order unless you’re paying monthly. Seems odd that you can’t get ready when you’re paying in full.

I think ‘getting ready’ just pre-approves you for finance. There’s no guarantee you’ll get the phone you choose for release day delivery, it just means you don’t have to wait for the approval process during the pre-order on Friday.

O2 doing a sim only with 5G, 100gb data, 6 months of prime or Disney plus, roaming in 75 countries including USA for £20 a month.

I always buy the phone out right so this seems a good deal.

Now to decide between graphite or blue.

Was going to grab the 12 128gb but for £150 more you get the pro.

Nice that the pros dropped £50 this year as well.

Guys before selling your Mobile off to one of the UK Mobile Comparison Website places

Please check the reviews on the companies, I was about to use one of them, and when I researched the company, it was stated in some reviews they actually send you a lower offer once the phone is received, regardless of what you locked it in at. Some were saying the company said there was a small line scratch but the customer knew there wasn’t.

Just be very wary!

Does anyone have experience with Apple Trade-in when sending it through through the post?
Normally I've always gone to the store to trade-in on release day but I think I'll get the phones delivered this year...

My wife got an SE 2020 a couple of weeks ago. Sent off her iPhone 8 via the box that Apple sent her. All went ok and she got an email to say they'd approved everything fine.

I don’t think this would be acceptable with people in the UK, as being approved for finance would mean a hard stamp on your credit report, then if the customer ended up not getting one due to selling out, there would be a whole heap of complaints! It could be a soft stamp though which means it looks at your report and advises you will be eligible for credit, then hard stamps on Friday..

If they are hard stamping your credit file now, then I presume that’s you guaranteed a phone on Pre Order Friday.

Thought you were giving it a miss this year fella in favour of a new iPad?

From what I remember they take the money at the point the item ships or when you pick it up, not at point of purchase online

The queues will be horrendous to pick up and you never know Apple stores might just suddenly close.

...no they wont!! I was near the Apple Store near me last year and there was absolutely no queues for the iPhone 11 launch!

...the iPhone 12 comes out cheaper than the new iPad Air when I trade in my XS so decided to go for a 12!!! iPad will have to wait a little longer!!

Just because it might not come release day doesn't mean you won't be able to order it Friday, you could end up with 2-3 weeks delay but you'd still have been able to order using the finance.
