...hmm - actually, the only way I am going to be able to afford both the 12 and the new iPad Air is if I go for iUP, which is £22.45 a month for 24 months with iPhone XS trade in (quite reasonable seeing that my last iUP was around £57 a month for 2 years!!) and just buy the iPad Air outright (£130 with current iPad Air 2 trade in).

Yep - think this is what I'm gonna do!

Now to go through the 'pre-approval' process via the app!!

Its gonna be a LOOOONG day next Friday at the Apple Store in Bromley - who's joining me?!!!!!!!!!!!
:apple:😁
Don't think the pre-approval is for iUP, just 0% regular finance.

Anyone seen the colours of the Pro yet? Apple's website shots are pretty poor tbh. I'm torn between the 12 and 12 pro and the big thing for me is the stainless steel bands going to be scratch magnets.

God I remember queuing once at the apple store from 3am to get my hands on the rose gold iPhone 6 only to get to the store entrance at 8 am and find out it had sold out. Never again lol.

If you visit the iPhone 12 Pro page on your iPhone or iPad and scroll right to the bottom you can see all colours in AR, it's probably the best view you can get... I agree the shots are pretty poor.

I'm going onto the 24 month interest free payments and not bothering with the iUP anymore.

Cheaper per month, no up front fee and with the money I can get for my XS Max I can pay the remainder off any have cash left over for Christmas presents

.....but the MR front page suggests that the 24 month no interest option via the Apple Store app is indeed for the iUP :

I'm confused...?!?!!!

@Jinjin Can you clarify....?

😕

iUP is 20 months in the UK from memory, not 24. I haven't been on iUP since the X so I might be misremembering.

I am so torn between iPhone 12 Pro Max in Graphite or Blue. The blue colour is nice but if it was the same shade as the iPhone 12 I would not even hesitate!

No that’s not iup. That’s just a loan from Barclays. Unless you added it, you won’t be paying for Apple care

Barclays said no to me (as expected) so now not sure what to do. I have to match my current contract with EE for annual upgrade, but the 12 Pro is likely to be less p/m than what I am currently paying (I would guess)

Funny Barclays saying no, I have 6 contracts with EE at the moment (soon to be four as one watch is on its way back and the other is about to be paid off), spending around £250 p/m yet I cant get finance for £40 - joke really (appreciate they are separate companies)

That aimed at US Customers from reading it

@Jinjin So is this screen shot (taken on my iPhone's Apple Store app) for iUP or just for regular 0% finance (non iUP) :

...ok, so essentially then, there's really no point in the iUP (I can't see an option for iUP in the app) as it doesn't offer 0% interest - may as well just go via the above 'pre-approval' process?

Iup is in store only or if you’re in the programme and you get the option to upgrade and preorder via the app on Friday.

I went iUP last time but went down the 24m interest free option you linked to this time. No upfront charges and I've dealt with Barclays Finance a lot for my business and they're easy to deal with when clearing off the payment early if you want to do that!

Well I’ve just been pre approved for my phone. That was insanely fast!!

Going for the 128gb Pro in silver with AppleCare.

As it stands, if I pay off my current iUP contract I will stand to make a bit of cash out of it too.

Roll on Friday for orders. Will be gutted though if I don’t get one!!

Incidentally, EE have informed me that the you do NOT need a new sim card for 5G on the new phones.

But - you will need a new contract which includes 5G as part of its data (I'm on a sim only plan so just need to switch to one which includes 5G).

IUP is a package which is intended for the ‘average’ consumer I say. Someone who wants a new phone each year and is happy to just swap device with Apple each time. They also get the comfort blanket of Apple care.

Most of us are savvy enough to know it’s financially beneficial to not do that and actually sell the phone and pay off iup and start again.

For me that worked because it was 0% and the phones were costing over a grand. I was able to not have to fork that out in one lump.

Now there are more options like the 24 month interest free and early approvals IUP has no really purpose for me. But it will still be fine for plenty!
