Well I’ve just been pre approved for my phone. That was insanely fast!!

Going for the 128gb Pro in silver with AppleCare.

As it stands, if I pay off my current iUP contract I will stand to make a bit of cash out of it too.

Roll on Friday for orders. Will be gutted though if I don’t get one!!
Exactly what I am doing 👍

Incidentally, EE have informed me that the you do NOT need a new sim card for 5G on the new phones.

But - you will need a new contract which includes 5G as part of its data (I'm on a sim only plan so just need to switch to one which includes 5G).
I'm not too fussed about 5G at the moment. I find 4G more than capable so don't really see the point in paying extra for it

I’ve always used a HardGraft iPhone card/cash wallet as I don’t like cases or folios, but they seem to have stopped making them now. So, couple of questions:

(1) is a case needed for iPhone 12 Pro? Will it scratch?
(2) has anybody found a decent leather iPhone wallet that you can insert the phone into fully?

cheers!

....approved!!!!!!!!!!!!

Did people get their pre-approval straight away, and did it update the state within the app?

I've had details through from barclays, but nothing from apple, or no updates in the apple store app… 🤔

Even after the AW6 debacle Apple have lured me back to another preorder/shipping update madness..!

Friday can't come soon enough - 128GB iPhone 12 Pro Gold for me 🤞

Do have a quick Q though: This year is the first year I'll be doing trade in not @ the store, I know they send out the boxes - I assume it's the same process? Transfer iPhone data across to new one then once completed factory reset the old one, pop it in the box and send?

...I received 3 emails from Barclays (an application one, a 'check application' one and an 'approved' one - and actually, these came through BEFORE I had even finished the process within the app?!) + 1 from Apple confirming approval + it also now shows in my app as per my post above.

Perhaps check in your spam folder..?

Question re financing/trade in.....

If you order phone using financing and put on a trade in (which reduces monthly cost)..... what happens if you then decide either to not trade in the phone (e.g. if sell somewhere else) or for any reason they reject the handset?

Do they increase teh payments to full amount (would be interested to know if they approve credit based on full price of handset regardless of trade in) - or would you be expected to pay difference as a one off? I can't see how they could do latter given you would have already received the new handset!

Think I will do the same. This option kind of makes iUp redundant. Can get a 0% finance and add Apple care and spread over 24 months making my outlay cheaper. Given I usually sell and pay off Barclays every 12 months, I may as well do this!

Can you make an overpayment at any time to Barclays with no penalty?
I'm considering the 0% finance but dont want the monthly payments to be that high so reducing a few £100 would be great. :)

I think the current SIMs are 5G capable, but don't trust my word on it. I'd give EE a call.

As far as I know, you don’t need a new SIM (I certainly didn’t have to change my eSIM for example) but you still need to be on a 5G plan to use 5G, otherwise you’ll only get 4G. I had to upgrade from my current 4G Unlimited SIM Only plan to a 5G one, luckily it costs me less than before which is nice.

Difference is one off pre-charged to assign debit or credit card. If no return of trade-in part received, it will not be refunded as I understood.

I will absorb the trade-in knock down cost rather than hassling. Sites like Magpie may have knock you down even the price is locked-in. FB marketplace is flooded with all reselling and it will only be fast transaction unless can offer competitive price.

100% this ☝🏼

EE confirmed this to me today:

;)

Never heard of them. I locked in with magpie last week so no one will get near the £640 I’m getting for my 11pro 256

I got £620 for my wife's yesterday (same spec as yours) from Envirophone.

Considering I'd left it late this time, I was pretty happy with that.

From memory you can but it doesn’t reduce your monthly payments, just brings forward the date you complete
Did you recall how over-payment is achieved? 24 months is a bit too much and I don’t want it to hang it in there for 2 years.

You can get in touch with Barclays partner finance any time and make a payment
This certainly seems the way to go.
Barclays 24 months 0%, so you can sort it online and get it delivered, then just settle it whenever the new phone comes out next year. Basically iUP except you can do it online and don't have to visit a store.
