Haha and I bet you grudgingly agreed!

Nearly found myself getting a 13” MBP but sense kicked in and though it too soon to replace my 2019 model
I’m seriously tempted to sell my 2020 MBA and pick up an M1 😬
If you have fairly recent machines it doesn’t make sense.
I use my msi laptop for most stuff, Arch for personal and a Windows VM for specific stuff needed at uni which gets replaced with a fresh VM at the start of every new module.
The wife is limping along on a 2012 MacBook Air, its microphone no longer works and it seems to have compatibility issues with the 2nd gen AirPods I bought her a few weeks ago. Plus when using Teams it ramps up the fan to crazy levels, even with new thermal paste and a new fan.
I think she’s definitely in need something new and would really love the fanless design of the new Air 😂
I replaced my 2012 MBA earlier this year after it finally decided to give up. I ended up cooking the logic board in the oven to help reseat the soldier which gave it another month of life!

My 2020 model is a great upgrade with the retina screen and Touch ID although the fans and heat does kick in for anything mildly taxing.

Blue certainly seems the most popular option according to the Poll, do people think it’s a one year thing like the green last year or if Apple will keep it going?

Just switched from o2 to EE, way better 5G coverage on EE in Cardiff and faster 4G for that matter too!

200GBs a month and includes one smart benefit for life of contract so that’s Apple Music sorted.

£25 down to £20 with 20% discount and overall saving me £7.63 pm compared to my o2 bill and I get Apple Music included.
Happy with that 😀

That’s essentially what I got in the end but decided for the extra 2.40 pm do the unlimited.

I did exactly the same, Blue Light Card 20% perk. However I went for BT sport which up to two people can watch at the same time. That's my kids sorted for watching the match, I'm either there in person or watching it on a larger screen.

If anyone wants a discounted Mujjo case, they just sent me a coupon code (valid for today only apparently?!!) - I wont be using it so feel free to use:

What am I going to tell them? I've only ever bought from Apple in person, does DPD always ask for photo ID for deliveries?
When my 12 Pro came with DPD the guy took a photo of me holding the box with his handheld terminal thingy which appeared on the tracking page later. He didn't ask me for photo ID, in fact I offered it (because I'd read that too) but he said he didn't need it.

What insurance are people using? I was normally on iUP but on EE now. AppleCare+ or EE’s own? I go caseless so prefer the low excess of AppleCare but it would be nice to have lost+stolen cover too. Does anyone get AppleCare+ plus lost and stolen insurance?

Also was there some sort of discount on monthly AppleCare+ payments mentioned earlier?

Apple care doesn’t cover lost or stolen sadly. Not in Uk anyway.

My home contents insurance covers accidental damage and theft on smartphones and so does my bank. I’ve not made a claim in years though and touch wood have not damaged an iPhone despite dropping mine a lot lol. I think a good case devoids the need for paying for additional insurance as even with AC you have to pay an excess charge for replacements on top of an already expensive policy. I remember Martin Lewis and Which? running articles on why AC is a rather unnecessary addition that Apple earn handsomely out of.

I'm probably going to go with Covercloud as that's who I went with for the 11 Pro Max I bought last September. I went to set it all up yesterday, but didn't complete the purchase as I didn't have the IMEI for the 12 Pro Max yet.

Overnight they've sent me a "why haven't you purchased yet" email with a 5% off code - COMEBACK. I don't think it's account specific, so sharing it here in case it helps others.

That's a blast from the past. I had one of the original Archimedes models (the middle one, A500 I think? Long time ago! [edit - it was an A410]) and later a RISC PC. Good times.
I spent a LOT of time with a family members Archimedes.
Unfortunately never had one myself as my parents had paid a lot of money to buy me an Amiga 2000, but the Archimedes always had my heart.

House insurance is quite often a decent deal for phone insurance. Can add your phone as an additional item and it usually is just a few quid extra on the annual premium vs paying a few quid a month. Not all insurers do it, so have to check their website.

I couldn't afford those. Had to make do with an Acorn Electron.
