Hmmm... Your message doesn't say that "Currys haven't had any iPhone 12 Pro Max's delivered". It says that an order that has been placed has been delayed due to stock not being available, and the order placed is on a back order. It also says that stock levels can be checked generally on the website...
I know this is disappointing, I know that you say you ordered early - and it does sound like there's potentially been a mess up in stock allocation, or availability, or you missed the allocation for the SKU you wanted. But that's very, very different to the claim that Currys haven't received ANY 12PM's... (Also, some SKUs have been available today for tomorrow's delivery.)
I've just checked with Currys web chat for my two orders. I asked for tracking info, and this was the response after going through ID checks and providing order numbers:

This seems consistent with others. I know Currys have a reputation for a reason, and I guess we'll have to wait and see.
Treble, it may be worth contacting Currys Web Chat rather than Team Know How, just to double-check?

Considering others are being told different, and that this person was adamant they could see on their end, I have hope.If it was anything like there 12 and 12PM launches I wouldn’t hold your breath!

Yes, I’m guessing the main reason to do so is the cashback, personally I’d just prefer the guarantee of having the device on day one, and I already get decent cashback through my Amex anyway.
I'm not really what the point of this comment is? I'm sure people have plenty of reasons for their choice of order and many may well have not pre-orderred for several years in a row and have the experience to know Currys are awful. I suspect they were also unable read through the thousands of messages that may have contained this experience in advance. Many, myself included, have ordered as a last ditch attempt at a launch day device having failed to get this from Apple.
The whole point of this thread is to come together as a community to enjoy the excitement (and sometimes disappointment) around a new device launch and this would include sharing our hopes and doubts about less reputable retailers. "What were you thinking" etc is an unnecessary approach to this endeavour, let us have our fun in peace!! 😜
The message relates to my order for the 12 pro max ordered at 2pm on Friday release day, curry’s didn’t launch at 1pm like other major retailers so I presumed I would be in the first batch around 20 mins after I received that message I received another
Apologies for the confusion. I have double checked your order and can see your order will be dispatched. As this is a pre order, our systems do not show stock levels until the day of the release. However, i have looked a bit further into your order number and can see one is allocated for yourself. You will receive an e-mail with the tracking details shortly. Kind regards
So yes it looks like I will get a release day delivery but until I get that dpd text I’m not holding my breath as curry’s do have a bad track record
And if that’s the case I will then hold my hands up and give praise where it’s due just not yet though
