So, how does this annual upgrade work? For example, I get the iPhone 12 Pro on EE this year, then in 12 months time I pay (up to) £300, give them my 12 Pro back, and they hand me a new iPhone next year? No other fees?

Also, is an EE handset locked? I will be using my EE eSim with it, but may have to put a Vodafone physical sim in for a business line. Will this be possible?
EE handsets are unlocked automatically after 18months since purchase but EE won't unlock the handset until I think either 6 or 9 months have passed in the contract and this applies to both the physical and eSim, I tried last year when i wanted to use the international eSim for travelling and they wouldn't do it.

No I don’t think you can I was saying this earlier. Every time I’ve financed through Barclays not on iup it has to be sent to the billing address.

Aaaahhhh that's a bit frustrating, i get it'll be for security though. Ow well that's what an interest free credit cards for. Better give them a call so they don't block a payment tomorrow.

Look.. you’re on macrumors.. reading a thread about pre ordering a new phone... I know it, you know it, we all know it.... accept why you’re here, join us on Friday.

You’re not an average consumer, you’re a connoisseur of fine things, you like having the latest technology, you’re ahead of the game, then envy of your friends.. you don’t need the newest iPhone.. you DESERVE the newest iPhone
😂 So true 😂

Only a better man than me can resist!

If you are worried about the card blocking tomorrow, buy Apple Store eVouchers today on the card and use them tomorrow :)

I normally do that. This year on the 0% though.

I have to say I'm glad its 1pm, not 8am, at least at 1pm I'll be awake and ready, at 8am I'm still half asleep. Roll on 6th November.

I remember when it was an in-person order where you had to start queuing in the shopping centre from 2am to be guaranteed with a chance at the spec you wanted at 9:00am.

I quite agree, 1pm is much more civilised!

See EE have announced a new way to watch on bt sport with using the new AR features

..this has been done before - can't remember who it was though (Sky or Virgin Media perhaps).

During the last major football tournament, there was an iOS app whereby once signed in, you could watch the TV football match through the AR app and you could choose special views to watch from : in the goal mouth, from the sidelines, from a high up gantry or even from a tv studio.

Basically its an 'anytime upgrade' so you can upgrade anytime, but depending on when you upgrade there may be a fee:

Taken from the EE website:

  1. in the first six months of your plan there's a £200 - 600 upgrade fee depending on what device you have

  2. between six and 12 months into your plan there's a £50 - £300 upgrade fee depending on what device you have

  3. after 12 months there is no upgrade fee

  4. if you're in the last 45 days before your plan ends, you can upgrade as normal with no upgrade fee and you can keep your old phone
Now if you decide to keep the handset then there is a fee depending on the model of phone you have, see here:

Information on unlocking an iPhone can be found here, but like someone said they are unlocked after 18 months:

I tried that with the 4S but when I went to Apple Brum to buy it they didn’t have my name on there checkboard turns it there system hadn’t acknowledged my order was not happy they wouldn’t sell the phone to me so I went over to phones4u and got it on a crap EE contract 💩

Wasn’t that a pain in the ar*e? Especially in the days when the queue was significantly bulked out with stooges who were put up to it by scalpers who would promptly relieve them of their purchasers and eventually drive off with a van full ready to seek their fortune on eBay or sell them abroad in countries where they were unavailable.

I actually witnessed this happening at the Trafford Centre in Manchester.

I currently have the 11 Pro Max, but it's almost too big. I think I will go for the 12 Pro this year in graphite.
