I did that almost 8yrs ago and works brilliantly, and guess what you just inspired me to get it out of a cupboard and here it is and the receipt 😄

Haha I also brought mine down to the kitchen where am working and popped the 11 Pro in on an old adaptor plug.
Beginning to wish I could keep the 11 Pro as been using it and the 12PM since Friday (until I get replacement esim for personal number) but I’ve traded it in with apple to part fund the 12PM!

Is it worth buying a Magsafe charger?
I just picked one up yesterday from a local Waitrose as I ordered from John Lewis, the cable is fixed to the unit and USBC connection the other end, the cable is around 93cm long, you DO require a 20w or above USBC charger too plug it into, I bought the one shown in the image below on a pre black Friday deal for £27.59 from Amazon that is more than sufficient, I am sure the deal will come up again over black friday proper, with the phone bare it magnetises quite well to the unit, not sure if I would dangle it over a stone floor and shake it but I would say if you had it on the dashboard of your car for example it would hold it. The cable coming from the puck is a bit of a pain but you just rotate the puck so the cable comes away where it doesn't t annoy you when holding it, it DOES charge faster and when you attach it a circle appears on the screen confirming connection, but DOES NOT work through my silicon case, I just sent my Apple case back because it was awful and not worth the money IMHO, I bought the Nodus MagSafe compatible case that is also magnetic, see link for info https://noduscollection.com/collections/phone-cases/products/shell-case-3

There will be bare support units of all different types appearing soon I guess like the apple watch where you put your own puck in, is it worth it, in a one word NO as you still have to buy the charger that Apple said they weren't including to save the environment, wait a minute another van just had to deliver that in further packaging!!!!, BUT I had no choice, its more a max £25 unit to me but at least I have one original one, I won't be rushing out to buy another!

Hope this helps 👍

Ordered myself a couple of the HomePod Mini's from John Lewis this morning, coming tomorrow.

Going to replace the Google Nest Mini's I've been using in the bedrooms. I'll give those to my sister. I'm actually really looking forward to receiving them. I know I'm going to end up buying more and having them in every room in the house.
I really think you will find them pretty useless compared to Alexa, so I wouldn't buy too many yet, have a dabble and see, there are limited apps that connect with it, I have 15 plus Alexas around my home and they run everything, I am going to test one of these and see how it performs, will be able to give feedback here as my home is fully automated and it will be a great test for it 👍

How are people getting on with their Torras clear cases from a few pages back? Mine seems to fit a treat though I'm just a little paranoid because of the shiny sides that its somehow going to chip / scratch it over time even though I won't be taking it out of the case on a regular basis, just by everyday use.

Use them for HomeKit things and listening to music, the Nest Mini did that through Google Home app, but it'll be nice to have everything running through one system. The annouce feature will get used a lot... Dinner is ready! Get your shoes on etc.

just received my HomePod mini and WOW. sound is amazing, just setting up but what a unit, if they get full functionality on next iOS release, they will be a force to recon with.

shows echo dot up as cheap plastic, just my thoughts,
Agree sound will be great but the rest rubbish, should work with Alexa and make a superb one 👍

....you'll buggered then if your wifi ever goes down as all those 'everythings' you have will no longer operate!!!

We use announce and room drop in constantly on Alexa dn have for many years, stops shouting round the house so if you have never had that its extremely useful, BUT Amazon have had it for donkeys years, Apple are really trying to play catchup, they have missed the boat, there is no way I am replacing 15 units for an inferior linking product and if I want the music I use the Sonos integrated Alex sound system we also have in every room. As I said I bought one of these as it was so cheap so will have a play and be honest about my views, it arrives tomorrow.

Nice work! 👍

09:05am mine went in, would have been quicker, but had to fiddle about putting in the vouchers codes from works reward program.
I never even knew it was launching or even existed, I knew about the bigger failure, only read it on here today and bought it, so THANKS for making be buy more tat 😄

Pretty good round up of it, just to clarify I've tried it and it will work with the Apple 18w charger although you'll only get about 10w charging, apparently it'll even work with an old 5w charger (using a dongle) if you want to wait a week for it to charge, strange thing is the below review has tried it with every type of charger but it's only the Apple 20w charger that hit's the full 15w regardless of the chargers output, I'm pretty sure Apple's built in some form of circuitry handshake shenanigans between the Magsafe puck and the 20w plug.

That's fair enough, if I was in your position I wouldn't be replacing all those Alexa devices, but for me who has a couple of HomePods in the lounge and a couple of Nest Mini's in the bedrooms, it makes it a lot easier.

I can see me adding a couple more in the dinning room, Kitchen and conservatory. I wanted to replace those Nest Mini's for a while, but having HomePods in them was way overkill, the HomePod Mini completely fits the bill.

Ah, I have two systems, I have a back up MiFi SIM card unit that takes over, it was for all the security cameras so I have just added to it. But you are right, I have 56 Hue lights attached to it, thats interior and exterior, plus ring doorbells, 2 x Nest thermostats and goodness knows what other wifi units from cooker, to robot vacuums to robot mowers, garage doors e.t.c. One reason why its too late for me to migrate to a new system but will stick this Apple ball in my motorhome which has its own wifi network, I have two TV's in it with Apple TV so will be interesting to see if I can get sound out of this unit 👍

Lets hope that Apple improves on their integration with other devices, what appealed to me watching the reviews was their SUPERB integration with Apple products, I have so many Apple products I can see me getting great benefit from that department, as I said lets see but agree for you its much easier plus its a bargain including a 20w charger unit compared to those awful plastic leather Apple cases for £59, there is just absolutely no comparison and make you realise what a rip off the cases are!

I use it as my overnight charger and I like the fact that I can use the magsafe charger in my room and have my earphones in - before I had to pick one.
I would really think for overnight its overkill, you can get a much cheaper charging unit for that as it has all night to charge, I see this as a way to do a quick charge during the day, but of course its mobile so nothing to stop you taking it with you, but with an Apple wallet only holding three cards and stuck on the back of the phone (if it hasn't already fallen off or stuck in your pocket) I am surprised they are not selling a leather MagSafe puck holder for £50 as well, you could then strap that to the front of the phone to make it look even more stupid and bulky, well your real wallet is in your pocket so no room there, wait a minute why do they not sell Apple rucksacks for £599 to shove it all in? now thats an idea 😄
