I have 5GSA working on my 15PM, but I don’t live in an enabled area and not traveled to one yet.

For me, I am hoping the benefit will be the VIP priority connection when in a busy area… but that is to be seen.

I didn’t get the plan for 5G SA, but for other benefits and it reduced my overall bill by including watch data and a better discount.

Which plan did you go for and how much are you paying OOI?

Interested in the UL plans which now include Watch data, but they seem to be creeping up substantially.

Could someone enlighten me as to what this 5GSA is? Ive had a look on the EE site and its not really explained.

Im not too keen on the idea of "priority connections" sounds like another way to nickel and dime people. EE tariffs are already ridiculous.

We've just been asked to submit which new phone we want for work and the Titanium Black 16PM was on the list (plus the latest Samsung S24U, Pixel 9 Pro / Pro XL etc); so gone with the 16PM in black (and accidentally pre-ordered the black AWU2 too) 😂

Said I wasn't going to; but the works phone update is a surprise, so may as well take advantage :)

Has anybody been charged for their preorder yet? Mine is to be delivered 25-30th but nothing taken yet. No hold on the money either.

Nope, same delivery timeframe as you and no money taken or on hold, guessing be taken when it begins to prepare to ship closer to the delivery time in a week and half’s time

I think it means when the networks most busy during peak hours the people on ‘All Rounder’ and ‘Full Works’ plans won’t be effected and they will still get the best connection as priority.

How did you get it then if you didn't get the plan for 5G SA? Is it automatic or something?

It’s my understanding that a lot of the early ‘5G’ network in the UK has essentially been a 5G transmitter bolted to the existing underlying 4G infrastructure, sometimes only seeing maybe 20% speed gains in real terms from 4G.

The idea of ‘standalone 5G’ (5GSA) is that it is 5th generation technology from start to finish, allowing significantly faster speeds and capacity.

I wonder if that's what the new EE 5G mast is that's been built local to us in the last 6 months... 3 huge single masts and a box of tricks at the bottom of them...

TBH signal has been spot on this year; mid to late last year it was painful at times; had to walk to the front of the house to make/take calls... Not great when my office is at the back haha

I went for the Full Works Sim Only, I have F&F discount on it.

So the included Watch Data and Google One for Nest Aware meant it was cheaper for me, but that was just in my case as I was paying £120 a year for Nest Aware.

Anyone have any previous experience of securing a phone on day one without a pre order? Do Apple/other retailers typically hold stock?

I’m after a 16 PM in black - missed the pre orders foolishly!

If I ever missed a pre-order I would usually go to John Lewis, they open their iPhone orders on the release day at 8am (I think), then I get next day delivery on the Saturday with DPD, I know its a day later but at least you know it is definitely coming with then. I personally wouldn't get it anywhere else but from Apple or John Lewis.

Cheers. Will give that a go!

It’s Apple or JL for me really as I’ve got vouchers I can redeem for both, and can purchase more with work perks scheme at a discount. Fingers crossed.

John Lewis this year have done the Pre-Order, if you can somewhere else to try might be CostCo..

John Lewis are already sold out of most pre order stock. They done it a bit different this year so I’m not so sure they will have more stock on launch day. You could always message or call them to check.

Everyone seems to be on the Pre-Order bandwagon this year, as just looked at Costco, and they are doing it as well, as John Lewis..
One place to try is Selfridges as they don't seem to have the pre-order from what I can tell...

I have 10% uplift code for Music Magpie, which I might use, as haven't decided whether to keep or sell my 15 Pro Max and use it for IOS testing :)

My case and screen protectors turned up from Amazon today although I said don't deliver them for a few days lol
Is this a generic one you could share, or a single use one? :)

Last year, on launch day (not pre order day) I bought one for pickup on the same day from an Apple Store in London. Bear in mind though I went online at 6am as I was flying back to the UK therefore I was awaken and at the airport. But I guess you can try to do the same early in the morning on the 20th.
Also, this year I did not manage to get the model I wanted for launch day, so yesterday at around 8:30am I found a 16PM for pickup at an Apple Store in London. You just really need to be patient. On the Apple online Store page choose the model you want and go to the page where you choose the store you want to pick-up. Then, keep refreshing it until one becomes available and just pay it. As I always pay 100% with credit card so I am not sure how does it work if you have financing etc.

Anyone else ordered a 16 Pro and trying to decide if it won’t feel too small after only owning PM phones until now?

I have a 13” iPad Pro and a 14” MBP and with this year’s release there is feature and camera parity so getting a smaller iPhone seems appealing. Cheers
Yes, been debating going from 15 PM to 16 Pro (my wife would be getting my 15PM). I only had a day left before my Barclays pre-approval ran out tomorrow. So I‘ve put an order in today (delivery 1-8 Oct), this way I’ll have a chance to see the phones in my local Apple Store, which should give me more of an idea. That should leave me enough time to cancel before my order goes to PTS, unless of course the delivery date is moved forward. That’s possible as they‘ve been in the Oct 1-8 delivery timeframe all weekend which suggests not massive demand? (16 Pro Black Titanium).

Good thing I got it from Apple this year then for release day. But that’s my future back up plan ruined 😂
