I thought it might be quicker - Quick Start has taken a little while when I’ve done it before

According to the part of the Apple website I looked at, you can use the USB-C-to-Lightning cable from your old iPhone for QuickStart.
It’s only if you were doing it lightning to lightning (such as 13 Pro to 14 Pro) where you needed an adapter; 15 to 16 you can just use a USBC to USBC, and 13/14 to 16 you can use your old USBC to Lightning

Who else is coming from a plus model to a Max? Or a non pro to a pro?

With the 14 and 15 vs the 14 pro and 15 pro there were some settings that the pro had and the non pro didn't.

Im not taking any chances this time and going all in with the PM.

Early days yet, most orders from all retailers won’t start moving till Thursday
Keeping my fingers crossed too with Very. Strange way they’ve dealt with all this - surely they could communicate things better. Almost everyone that ordered from them minutes after launch will have been hoping (expecting) delivery on Friday.

Argos have been decent on the other hand. Ordered one from them and they were wrongly showing an earlier delivery date than the 20th. They sent a blanket mail out to everyone today advising this was obviously an error but reassured delivery would be launch day (20th) l.

EE were originally offering me a £100 a month deal for the 256gb pro max, thought this was steep so opted for buying a 1TB pro max it outright and going sim only (22pm) this works out about 95 a month but instead of a 256 now have a 1tb phone. I take lots of family videos and photos so it is the better option for me. EE is being scandalous though, you pretty much pay the first year for your phone and then the second year for your data plan. So £1200 over 2 years, works out about £50 a month just for the contract. terrible!!! We are going back to the days where its cheaper by the phone outright and go sim only
EE, Sky, Vodafone, all a rip off. I’m with Three. 1TB 16PM £81 a month for 2 years unlimited everything (paid £85 up front). The sim plan works out at about £17 ish a month when you add up the total and take the price of the phone off.

I’ve always been a big advocate of three and was going to back to them but it’s £15 a month to add an Apple Watch to an account.

If you don’t need a phone and want sim only I’d highly recommend smarty going forward, it piggy backs on three anyway. The only reason I’m leaving smarty is because if managed to get F&F discount off a mate for EE, meaning I can add a watch to it for £6 and get Apple Music included.

so I upgraded my iPhone 15 pro on the EE anytime upgrade. I was meant to pay an upgrade fee of £100 but EE kindly moved my contract forward by 1 week wiping this charge out.

Strange thing was the advisor didn’t mention me sending my old iPhone back so after a call to EE last night they have advised I do not need to send my old iPhone back which is strange being it’s upgraded on anytime upgrade.

They also provided it in a text to confirm. Has anyone else had this? I’m sceptical about whether I can sell the device or not!

I’d be sitting on that 15 Pro a few months before selling it, it feels like someone’s made a mistake and it hasn’t been realised. My brother in law was sent 2 iPhone 14 Pros a couple of years back as a mistake when he upgraded and nobody ever realised. Sometimes in life you’ve got to take the luck as you don’t seem to get rewarded for being honest lol.

Coverage is important though and Three in Wales is not the best, so all depends where you live. Vodafone and EE have the best coverage here. They are rip off if you go through the carrier directly but who does that these days? It’s best going through USwitch or Mobiles.co.uk for better deals. I’ve upgraded on Vodafone with a cash back deal through work, but they couldn’t match the monthly tariff and didn’t even try to. I’m paying £44 a month for an iPhone 16 Pro Max 256gb and the closest Vodafone could go was £65 a month.

Crazy how much it costs on some networks to add a Watch. I used to have it when I was on EE for running without my phone, but then the price went up so it wasn’t worth it and I just took my phone with me.

That’s very true, luckily I’ve always had pretty good coverage with Three. I lived near Bristol until 2020 when I moved to Cardiff, and apart from the odd spot where it drops out, it’s been pretty good. Yeah even when I was looking on uswitch and mobiles.co.uk I couldn’t find anything better than the price I was given via Three’s live chat, after I had asked for additional discount.

Just had a DPD notification that they are expecting my Pro Max, from O2 - different this year as it’s always been the night before for me. The details still say ‘shipped date 19th September’ so I’m not expecting it early at all but good to know it’s looking good for Friday already. O2 order status says the orders already been sent so no changes can be made.

Do we know if Apple still use either DPD or DHL for iPhone deliveries? I much prefer DPD in my area however the last couple of years it’s always been DHL who never stick to the time slot and just turn up whenever they like…

Question for anyone who has set up a 15 from a 14 or earlier - can you use a USB-C to lightning cable to transfer data from the old to new phone? Apple’s website makes it sound like you need an adapter and a pure lightning cable, so is there a reason one of the USB-C to lightning cables I have lying around won’t work?
The iOS 18 Features summary states: Cabled migration Connect your current phone directly to your new iPhone with a USB-C or USB-C to Lightning cable to migrate your data more quickly.

It it should be faster than most Wi-Fi and iCloud backup/restore.

From my last two pre-orders it’s usually DHL

I have two 16 Pro 256GB (a black and a white) on order with Apple. Ordered and paid cash within first 15-minutes. White will be here onnFriday, black still says 25th-30th.

Doesn’t bother me, but I’ll let all know if it changes.

Myself and my partner go direct to EE. Yes it may well cost a bit more, but it’s zero hassle and that’s more important to us than a few quid a month.
