Point to note..... if you have recycled a device that you had AppleCare+ on, then you can get a pro-rata refund from Apple.

How does that work. I have just done renew on my 7 I store and wasn’t told about it.

Can it be done prorate? Is this available in the uk?

Had a 8 Plus 256GB preordered for in store pickup and went earlier but was rejected for the Payments Program and I'm not paying £900+ for a phone outright. Currently got a 7 which has been claimed, so conflicted as to what phone to get. Do I go for an Android or just get a regular 8 or what? Really don't know.

This when you recycle (i.e trade in) not upgrade on the iphone upgrade programme. If you are on IUP you havent paid the full premium to get a pro rata refund.

its in the case you have paid in full for apple care, if you cancel inside the 2 years its active from, you get refunded for the remaining. for IUP you haven't paid for apple care in it's entirety, you're paying monthly so tire's nothing you're owed

0% credit card and pay off the same amount over 20 months then trade it in at the end?

Is spreading the cost via a 0% credit card an option? I have one that does it on balance transfers so theoretically I can buy on one card and transfer the balance to the 0% card (small fee). Not actually theoretically as did that for my Macbook a couple of years back.

thats a shame, did you pre-order as IUP and ask to make it IP?

considered other payment options? not advocating people putting purchases on long interest free cards but if people manage it properly it can be a good tool.

Mines already boxed ready to go back( tried to cancel after ordering but was unable ) cant see the point in upgrading no real improvemnt that i think i will notice personal choice , my current iphone 7 plus is only 4 motnhs old as was replaced under apple care so it like new.

Oh dear :( how do you track the driver’s progress like that?

From the link in the text from UKMail yesterday............

Anyone who has been and picked one up on the IUP what details did they ask for? I’ve got payslip, ID etc with me going to pick it up after work

Received my 8+ early morning via UKmail. Upgrading from a 6, so bit of a jump for me. Mildly frustrated that I wont have chance to set it up and play with it until tomorrow evening, but something to look forward to i guess.

Re this Quick Start setup process. Am I right that my current phone also needs to be running ios11?

Don't think the 0% credit card would be an option really. Don't particularly want a credit card, although I know that does boost credit rating, and the fact I'm a student (albeit one who's quite well off in terms of money).

And yeah JinJin, I preordered on Apple Upgrade Program and asked to make it the Payments Program.

Only option I can think of is after getting the money for my 7 (getting £400 for it) put some of my own money towards the new phone. Either way, it's £900+ outright.
maybe its a case of sticking it out for next year?

Did you get on IUP before or was this your first attempt?

Ooh, my husband's old Nokia wireless charger works for my beautiful new iPhone! This is great, especially since he's also just bought himself a new Nokia 8, which doesn't use wireless charging. As an aside, his new phone arrived within a half an hour of mine. His is probably no where near as gorgeous, or good as mine, though :p

How much do they charge for that?

...it was indeed £25.

£25 I think.

...correct!

You mean once reserved under IUP or did you take IUP last year and this was your upgrade? Am relying on doing IP for the X as don't want the IUP/Applecare and AND its £10 a month more!!:eek::D

....oh sorry! I did my reservation last week via the app for IUP, but when I got there, the guru asked if I was gonna pay up front or use either IUP or IP. He then proceeded to explain the terms of each one and I chose from there. I'm quite glad I chose IUP and have the included Apple Care as well (think it only includes 2 free accidents with an excess of £25 but I will need to read the terms to clarify)

Bet disclosing that statement that isn't in his Apple training!! Though not sure it is true either..... Maybe thats why he is a 'sales dude' and not a 'genuis' :D

...actually I did have a sales guy instead of a guru so perhaps he was mistaken!!

do you know which Belkin protector they applied? assume its this one. few review comments on apple suggest they have cracked with being dropped.

...hmm, it was a Belkin one which they applied in store however, the one they applied to my 8 Plus is slightly different to the one you linked to:

I've just got to my office after collecting in store at 9AM. Worst Apple experience ever.

The guy who was serving me had been pulled off Genius Bar to help aid sales people. He didn't have a clue how to use the POS machine. Then a Space Grey iPhone came out which was wrong so that got sent back. He couldn't get the QWR to scan off my phone and was constantly asking others to help him use the machine.

Then I was told that it wouldn't count towards my business spend with Apple. Wrong. It definitely should do, thats why I was collecting in store and was planning to use the discount I'd accumulated with previous purchases.

Eventually I was told I'd need to return everything and buy it all again. So I had to do that. I don't even know why I bothered.

I was in store for at least an hour waiting for them to figure this out. Really disappointing experience considering the store was hardly busy and there were 7 in people in a line waiting to collect.
