For those in the know, is AppleCare worth it for £200?

I’ll put my phone in a case and probably look to sell it next year for the XI

I feel like it’s overkill especially with the £25 and £79 charges on top for repair anyway, but equally I feel like getting the screen repaired by chaps in Tottenham Court Road dodgy phone shops will be impossible with this phone.

I know I will drop it inside 12 months and if not me, the kids will.

That all glass back worries me, I’ll be getting AC for piece of mind

Does anyone actually know for a fact that you can buy for home delivery and THEN take the phone to Apple store and take out the upgrade programme? Like get a refund and then join the upgrade programme?

You a existing customer? Think for new customers it’s far harder.
I currently pay £19.99 for 38gb (retention deal). However, EE had decent offers on sim only deals for new customers during Black Friday week last year, e.g. 20gb for £20, 25gb for £25 etc - it might be worth keeping an eye out for those

Currently in Iceland. Will be on the Apple Store app at 7am tomorrow hoping to get 64GB Space Grey for next week!

I’m upgrading using the IUP but a bit worried that it’s going to take too much time to go through the process before the phone goes out of stock. Annoying we done have a pre-approval scheme like the US has this year. When do Apple charge for the phone if I just order it outright and say I’m on the IUP programme when I collect from store? On collection or dispatch to the store?

It’s possible but I’m not really going to wait around

Also per month it’s not going to be much difference to the sim only deals even if it’s more over a two year deal.

I’m still need to give the EE PAYG sim I picked up a good try. Hoping it’s better performing along my commute where 3 seem to struggle.

Will be a shame to relinquish all you can eat £19 sim but I’ve not used more than 10gb in a month in over a year.

I’ll wait for Black Friday (three deal runs till feb) and see what they offer, also have the series 3 watch which needs some some LTE loving

Where did someone see the Vodafone 256gb pricing? All I can see are the preview prices for the 64GB

Still not sure wether to get the Apple Watch with my iPhone x order..hmmm

Or wait till I get the x then order

Planned on having my iPhone on 4G and my iPad on WiFi but due to Apple Pay issues on my iPad that I won’t be able to get sorted until tomorrow, it looks like I’ll be going at it with just my iPhone.

I have to say, I’m really nervous!!

Going to bed now, see you all in the morning!

Well that’s just it I’ve dropped my 6s loads of times and so has my son, usually onto hard floor, and because it’s in a case (not covering the screen but raises above the screen level if that makes sense) it’s never smashed.

Wondering if the X will be as hard wearing in a case

Me too. I spoke to Apple and they said if you’re on the upgrade programme and don’t get one for next Friday you’ll get a date in a couple of weeks. See my earlier post. Don’t know whether to buy as it’ll be faster?

For me, I think my mobile usage justifies a spend of about 15-20 per month if on SIM only. I think I use about 5GB per month, but used to go over my 6GB limit every now and then so I’m on a 16GB tariff now.

EEs SIM only offers (which just expired) don’t really have a good tier for me it’s either 5GB or 20GB.

I’m going to get a 30 day SIM from somewhere and wait until EE have new offers. My contract with Vodafone expires around black Friday too.

100GB is a smoke screen. What they’ll count on is massive under utilisation of that amount and there will definitely be a fair use policy on use of that data as a hot spot. There will be people out there conned by the amount and paying for what they’ll never use.

EE have no restriction on hot spot data use, your entire allowance can be used that way if you so wish.

A lot of wealthy Oxford university students in Oxford though

Yeah, but honestly I have rarely seen people walking with latest devices after launch. I used to live in the city centre last year, could rarely spot people wearing wearing an Apple Watch (I got my S2 Watch last year). Same with AirPods, I saw a guy for the first time in May walking with AirPods in his ears, while I got mine in December.

Shouldn't have difficulty getting an X from a reseller. I'll show up at 8am and most likely walk out with an X. I just hope they keep a decent amount in stock.
