Any 1 else still on 'ORDER PLACED' :(

Its still saying that on my account as well..

2-3 weeks delivery. I spoke to the bank, they said theres been no money taken. Spoke to apple, the advisor said it still looks like the order has gone through but to keep an eye on the website.. I paid by apple Pay too, there didn't seem to be any errors during payment.

i am worried it might get cancelled.. Same bank said no transaction yet

Apple Repair details are now up for anyone considering adding Apple Care Plus. Personally I think its worth it.

Screen Replacment: 286.44
Other Damage(Smashed Back): 556.44

Personally for piece of mind, and knowing how expensive those prices are 199 for Apple Care seems reasonable for me. Yes you have the excess but then its only got 225 for a screen, and 279 if you destroy the phone.

Let me know what youse think.

I think you meant to say £25 and £79 and not 225 or 279.....lol

Apple do not charge until the phone is shipped. That’s how they do pre-orders.

Even those of us who are expecting the phones next Friday should not be charged until next Wednesday/Thursday when phones ship.

If your phone is 2-3 weeks then there is no way Apple will have charged you - and they may not even have tried an authorisation charge either. Nothing to worry about. It’s normal.

And you will see this question asked 1000s of times in all the order threads.

My payment has gone through properly using amex and Apple Pay but my 2-3w order is still showing “order placed” so don’t worry

It looks like anyone having the phone shipped to them for the 3rd that has gone to preparing to ship is probably coming from China direct.

Just like how most US orders work. And totally different to the UK way normally which is they are already In a Warehouse here waiting for next Thursday to be sent next day delivery.

This would further back up my belief all the launch day stock in the UK has been sent to stores. And those who are getting deliveries are just very lucky to get them from the factory before they ran out.

iMac and MacBook, both refreshing the store and the reservation page every three seconds automatically using a Safari extension (which is how I got a reservation in at 08:01).

Manually quitting the app on my iPhone.

And an iPad with the store left open, no quitting.

Quite manageable.

You realise how ridiculous that sounds. Lol.

I would have liked a 256GB but I’m getting a 64GB in store on Friday.

I wonder if we are now all covered by Apple’s Christmas returns policy? Potentially giving me up until January to find a 256GB and swap it.

(Not that I think I need it - my 64GB 8 Plus is fine for storage).

So... in-store pickup - question for anyone who's done it before.
Mine's booked for the afternoon of 3rd November. If I manage to get away from work early, can I turn up earlier and collect then? Or do I have to wait until my window opens?

Christmas returns doesn’t normally kick in until mid November. I think it was the 10th last year. I wouldn’t be surprised if it is delayed this year due to the iPhone X.

If you turn up after the rush (e.g. midday) then you will be seen very quickly regardless of the time slot. But don’t even think about turning up at 8AM if that’s not when your slot is. :p

;) Not sure I could wrangle getting away from work THAT early... but that's ideal if so! Pickup is 14:30 for me, but probably will be able to get away at 12:30 from work so at the Apple Store for 13:00.

Can confirm that’s how in store pickup works. You won’t (as I recall) see any change in status until Thursday once your store of choice will flag it as being ready for pickup

Cheers, I thought that would be case.

From memory, I think early is okay. Being late isn't.

Every iPhone I have ever pre-ordered and got launch day has come direct from China.

It depends if we have paid for the phone before it arrives in store. If we have then the phone is ours and it doesn’t matter what time you arrive they will give it to you. Late, early, whenever. Of course the queue will be massive at certain times of the day.

If it’s a reservation only then I believe they will hold it until the end of the day then reallocate to stock. But we don’t know how exactly it works with the collection in store.

What I would say is that it shows under “orders” and not “reservations” so that suggests anyone with in store collection will be charged middle of next week.

I’ve got two collection windows 2-2:30 and 4-4:30 - from experience last year you might have to wait 10 mins but then will be in and out fast.

Every other year as far back as the iPhone 6 the launch day deliveries were already in the UK.

But if they were not launch day then it would occasionally come from China. If all your orders have come from China then you have been slow basically as they are not launch day.

You are mistaken about the country your phone was shipped from if it was a UK delivery. They are always in the UK waiting for next day. (Of course all are made in China).

Well I’m in Crete at the moment and the Apple store or Apple website didn’t come back on for me until about 08:20GMT this morning.

I tried to order a silver 256 to pickup from Stratford but last one must’ve gone before I completed payment. So I went back in and got a black 64 to pickup on Friday from Lakeside store!!! Got confirmation email at 8:25. Amazed I will get one on launch day!

:):cool::D
