The Lloyds app has been updated for Face ID now after Halifax’s was the other day.

Same.

I'm really hoping this is good to use as it looks fantastic.
My main concerns is how it is in the hand when cover folded back and if the cover stays shut, I imagine it does due to the similar screen activation/shutting off that the iPad covers have.

I also thought the Folio case looked great and actually ordered it, but then I started having doubts about the credit card flaps making lines/marks on the screen after a while. (I saw a thread on here where someone had used a folio case with their iPhone and it had left marks on the screen).

I really don’t know why Apple didn’t design that Folio case with a completely flat, microfibre flap in place of those credit card holders - I really doubt anyone is going to stuff credit cards in there as surely they’ll eventually mark the screen?!

Anyhow - I cancelled my order and went with the standard leather case, and a Belkin screen protector.

Anyone on EE with the tracking message "Awaiting approval", be warned there has been a error on your order and now you are at the back of the que....
Think those with that message is likely because EE don’t know when the phone will arrive. Mine says 3rd November delivery

They use all 3 couriers (UK Mail, DPD, UPS). It's just luck of the draw.
Luckily EE use DPD

I paid via apple pay on my iphone 7 plus for my iphone X. However, I have just sold my iphone 7 plus and thus erased it. Will the apple pay payment still go through or does apple pay have to be active on an iphone for the payment for the iphone X to go through?
Apple ID is linked to your Apple ID and card details registered. You can register devices to use Apple Pay like your phone. All you have done is erase your device settings so it cannot be used for Apple Pay using your credentials. Websites now offer apple pay as a payment method and you can either use your apple smart device with touch ID or just login using your Apple account details to authorise a apple payment. You have already authorised payment so unless there is an issue then it will proceed. Should there be an issue it will be highlighted on your apple account order info, therefore keep an eye on this.

I also upgraded online with EE yesterday morning, spoke to live chat in the afternoon and they confirmed my order hadn't't been processed and she done it there and then, seems when you upgrade online it goes in a queue for processing, but they were too busy with chat and phone orders...I wasn't too impressed, an online order apparently doesn't reserve the stock...good thing the delivery date was still the same and hadn't slipped!
[doublepost=1509183781][/doublepost]Also anyone else notice EE are giving 'Free BeatsX Wireless Earphones', I didn't even notice when I ordered yesterday!
You must have gotten very lucky Bryan. I can't get ANY sense out of the online chat. They just keep saying "rest assured we will get your phone out to you asap"

Driving me up the wall. 53 hours later and it's still "Awaiting Approval"

Regarding Face ID - all apps that support Touch ID will automatically support Face ID without any work needed from the developer.

When you see developers saying it has been updated for Face ID all they really mean is they have made the app aware that Face ID is a thing. E.g. before it might have said “use Touch ID to log in” on a banking app, and they updated it to say “use Face ID to log in” if the app detects you’re using an iPhone X.

In other words the update is very very minor, usually just wording changes, and that’s why some banks have already pushed out updates.

Is it me, or did they completely forget about adding support for the Plus model screens? Everything in the app looks humongous, including the status bar and pop-up dialogs. Wondering how this will translate to how it'll look on the X.

I think almost all the banking apps are whitelabelled apps that are just rebranded for the appropriate bank (including the woeful custom keyboards). They don’t support the 4.7/5.5” displays so probably no chance we’ll get X support in the next decade  it’ll be letterboxed in its current form

I'm won't say anything about the banking apps that I don't have, but the HSBC, myBarclaycard, and Amex app all supports the Plus-sized screen, which is why I find it so baffling that the user review rating for Lloyds is so good. The Lloyds app is literally the only app on my phone that doesn't support this.

Hold on, I thought any app that worked with TouchID automatically worked?

Unless the developer actively turns off biometrics if you are using an iPhone X

Think you're right from Apple's developer pages. The only change they must have made is to say "Log in using Touch ID" for iPhone 6 to iPhone 8, and "Log in using Face ID" for the X.
Is my post invisible?! :p

There’s a guy in another thread claiming that an app can reject FaceID.

There’s also a German (Dutch? European) banking app that says FaceID is ‘disabled’ until they’re optimised for it

I also heard that banks are able to specifically disable biometric authentication if the device is X, due to concerns. Hopefully this doesn't become the norm.

LONG time lurker (such a seedy word), first time poster.

I tried to pick up an iPhone X on launch day only to be let down by the App on 2 devices and ended up ordering on the website but with a delivery of 4-5 weeks (28th November). I honestly think Apple will improve these dates in the coming weeks.

For all the people thinking of trying to get walk in pick ups - i have phoned 2 stores and been advised not to as its likely there wont be any as most, if not all, will be taken by reservations.

I have ordered with Three for delivery on 10th (they are still taking orders on Silver 64GB for 10th) but I had to buy out my existing contract and pay for the phone up front - came to about 750-800 so 200 cheaper but my tariff is an extra £12 a month.

Yes, I believe that banking app is checking to see if that device is an X, and disabling the biometric feature using that. I doubt that is what Apple wanted them to do so though, with apps supporting TouchID automatically supporting FaceID.

Haha maybe I’m just unlucky! My U.K. banking apps (Lloyd’s / Halifax / TSB) are definitely the same app (with the same bugs) with a fresh coat of paint :(

Welcome to MacRumors!

The app has been the quickest way to order for previous launches so it was a surprise on Friday that it seemed to be such a lottery. I was lucky, I got in at 8:05, not long before the launch day stock ran out.
