So I received a message for Carphone Warehouse saying DPD are delivering to my chosen pick up store tomorrow (silver, 256gb)

I was given the option to change to pick up from local depot surprisingly, which I did and hey presto confirmation text and email to allow me to pick up from DPD tomorrow morning at 8am

I can’t see how they allowed this error but looks like it slipped through and come 8:01 tomorrow am I may well have an iPhone X in my hands!

Update tomorrow

Ordered with Three. Estimated delivery on the 3rd and no email since to say otherwise (or confirm). As has been said, no way of order tracking with them and despite going through the website (on my phone) to order, I get the feeling it may be treating it as a 'new' contract rather than linking it to my sim-only contract I have at the moment. I'm still waiting for that dreaded 'We have changed your shipping date' email.

I have had some fun and games with cases though. Went on the apple site and ordered a tan leather case two days ago, paid with Apple Pay and all good. It told me estimated delivery was the 6th. But last night I tried to find the confirmation email and there wasn't one. Went to the apple site and logged in but it doesn't list it as an active order. Figured I must have not clicked some confirm button somewhere.

So had a look on Amazon and found a nice looking (Toro) leather flappy case for £25 and ordered it on Prime.

Came home from work today, to find an untidy looking Jiffy bag had been put through my letterbox, containing....a genuine Apple leather case!?! So not only did I receive it within 2 days, but there doesn't appear to be any record of it anywhere and now I'm going to end up with two cases - for a phone that probably won't arrive this week!

As long as CPW pick up all ok on Friday, anyone with greater than 2-3 week wait might get bumped soon when I cancel my Apple order.

Hoping to see cancelled orders to move my order up. But my order is so far down the list I expect that’s an unrealistic prospect.

Thats what I was hoping for too lol that people with double orders etc would cancel and I won’t have to wait till December . .. I suppose it’s all wishful thinking

I ordered through Three as well. Same thing, delivery date on 3rd via the original confirmation email.

I contacted them earlier in the week and they said they’d email should that date change, and I should expect DPD contact in regards to the delivery details possibly on Thursday for delivery on 3rd, if not the morning of as I wanted to change it to my office rather than home.

With the new contract situation, they will send you a new sim which will have a new phone number but they have a form online to port your existing number across and any credit on the account, takes 24hrs according to their CSR.

Really holding out for that confirmation about delivery on Friday though!

You’re not alone here, I’m in th same boat as you with 3. I’m taking the “no news is good news option” and hoping for a dispatch email tomorrow

So, John Lewis...
Pick up in store available after 2pm Fri or 2pm Sat ? Seems to be conflicting views.

Saturday.
Usually with JL click and collect they will text you on the Saturday when it's ready to collect, can be anytime till 2pm just depends when it gets delivered to said branch and when the employees there process it.

This is the first year that I’ll not be getting AppleCare+ and will be getting third party insurance instead. With a device this expensive, I want to be covered for loss and theft as well.

What worries me though, every one of the insurance companies state they do not cover damage unless unless all reasonable precautions are taken which many define as using a case. There is no way, I’m using a case on my iPhone. I haven’t done for years.

Which insurance company you are going with ?

Maybe the way to go if you get a dpd email is to pick up from the depot as they're more likely to give it you and break release than a cpw store.

This is exactly what I did (change to depot pick up)

Can’t see how they won’t give it to me, they won’t know it’s an iPhone and I have the email and text saying pick up 8am tomorrow...let’s wait and see I guess.

I have two 256gb X's coming in on the 3rd. Both my wife and I have decided to send them back for a refund.

We have thought long about it - since pre-order day - and have decided they are just too expensive and lack of touch ID make it not for us.

So if you are further down the delivery date list, you may get bumped up when these two get returned!

Depends how you return them, when I ordered a MacBook for my dad online, I ordered the wrong colour.... so took the unopened delivery box to an Apple store and they swapped it for the colour he wanted, but only after opening both the delivery and shrink wrapped MacBook box.... understandable, I guess, someone might try to give back a box with a load of a4 paper or something.

But if it is opened, I guess it will go into the replacement stock and not the “new” stock for resale

For those that made upgrades/new contracts...

In 99% of cases you won't hear anything from your carrier until it is shipped - so that means Thursday at some point - which could be morning, afternoon or even late evening - you will get a text/email.

There is no point in calling the customer services for your carrier. They have no idea what is happening with your order other than its been placed. Even if they say your due it on the 3rd they could be confused or just wrong. You just have to wait and see if you get a dispatch message on Thursday.

I'm glad everyone is starting to see some movement! Even the grotbags at CPW seem to be pulling their finger out!

There just giving you the new order dates mate, ring them up and speak to the sales team, they will tell you your fulfillment date.

I gave them my order number and they checked against their allocation... no reason to doubt that info tbh..

from previous comments all of their CS staff seem to offer random information so I wouldn't personally cancel until they miss the planned delivery date.

I would imagine that this team (Facebook) were giving out accurate info as a LOT of people were complaining and demanding to know their delivery date. It's cancelled now anyway.. Apple order still on for the 13th.

Was wanting to do the same when I got told the 10th too however I don’t want to put all my eggs in one basket. I’ll wait and see what happens on Friday first if I manage to get one somewhere else. If not then at least I have one coming on the 10th

Yeh, I've got my Apple order as the backstop in all of this. I'm trying to secure one sooner but if not, it's no biggie.

Did they take payment? I ordered the same and at the same time. They took money out of my account on Sunday.

Initially on Friday, no. I saw that some people on here had called up the sales line and the person on the phone forced the payment through. I did the same and played dumb about knowing if the payment had gone through. They said it failed.. which it shouldn't have. I immediately got a text message from Barclaycard carrying out a fraud check which I dealt with while on the phone to CPW.. he then saw the payment go through... that was on Monday.

Apple app order 8.01am, credit card transaction properly posted at last, order status still showing preparing for dispatch..

Yep. I quote from Apple order page “We’re completing some final details before we ship your order. As soon as it ships, we’ll email you the delivery information. At this point, you can no longer make changes to the order“

So fingers crossed shipping email tomorrow

Still need a case for the gym, any reasonably protective (better than the Apple leather ones at least) ones people would recommend? Needs to hold up to me inserting/removing it most days.
