So, John Lewis...
Pick up in store available after 2pm Fri or 2pm Sat ? Seems to be conflicting views.

I have JL home insurance with optional personal possessions cover. Pretty sure it covers theft/loss/damage while out of the house, but doesn’t seem to cover if I break it inside the house. Seems odd. I suppose nothing to stop me saying I dropped it outside though..

Only your morals

Debating queueing up at Covent Garden in the middle of the night for one on launch day. Really don't fancy waiting a month for my iUP reservation to arrive in-store.

...but it's probably going to be cold :(

In the middle of which night? Because I can’t imagine Thursday night will cut it

I am getting insurance, cases can go to hell, I want to enjoy this beauty without any cases. If I break it then insurance can take care of it.

Still haven't decided which insurance provider to go with, so confusing, prices are fairly reasonable but I want to go with one who can offer the quickest replacement.

This is the first year that I’ll not be getting AppleCare+ and will be getting third party insurance instead. With a device this expensive, I want to be covered for loss and theft as well.

What worries me though, every one of the insurance companies state they do not cover damage unless unless all reasonable precautions are taken which many define as using a case. There is no way, I’m using a case on my iPhone. I haven’t done for years.

You should ask them what constitutes "reasonable precautions". If you're using a case then I don't think there's a need to get accidental damage protection.

Well CPW just sent me this email! Happy days! Let’s pray I can pick it up tomorrow

Hi guys, for everyone who's ordered via Apple Store online and due for delivery on Friday have you had any text message updates? I just realised that there is an old phone number on my order which is now being used by a work colleague from my old job. Unfortunately I'm not in contact with them anymore so just concerned that he could mess something up if he gets a DPD tracking link or something! Maybe I'm just being paranoid:(

Are CPW really going to release the iPhone a day early?
It would be hilarious if they did consider all the stress they’ve put people through with not informing people about which date they’ll receive their phone.

I think they’ll stop customers from picking it up early though and tell them to come back on Friday

I have not yet had any delivery notification yet, not expecting any update until tomorrow. I’m assuming that we will get an email or the Apple order page will provide tracking details.

Anyone had any luck with getting the phone after your allocated time slot at an Apple store? Just found out I might not be able to get out of work until half an hour or so later. If I call them will they hold it? Will literally be half an hour/1 hour after my time slot.

Looks like John Lewis is showing out of stock now so they must have updated somehow...

John Lewis seem to have problems when it comes to the launch of new Apple products.

Last year, I received some John Lewis vouchers from my employer for long service & decided that I would use them as part payment towards the new Apple Watch Nike Edition. The week that the watch was going on sale (released on a Friday, as is the norm with Apple products), I logged on to the John Lewis site at the start of the week & noticed that they had the Watch listed, with a comment along the lines of ‘Coming Soon’ / ‘Available to order on xxxxx’. However, I WAS able to add the Watch to my basket, proceed to checkout & select collect from the store the next day! So I placed my order, bemused by the fact that I would be getting the Watch before it was even officially on sale.

A few hours after placing my order, I received a phone call from John Lewis Customer Services, advising that an error had been made & that I would not be able to collect my order until the Friday - fair enough I thought, as it had all seemed too good to be true. Then the next day, I received an email to advise that my order was ready to collect from store! So I headed to the store, went to customer collections, said I had an order to collect, gave them the collection number (did not mention what the order was for though!) and left the store with my new Apple Watch, days before it had even gone on sale at Apple Stores!
