Don’t know for definite if every store has the machine, but I would guess they do. The Belkin protectors they fit in store are a different part number/slightly different to the protectors you can fit yourself. I purchased a Belkin Invisiglass Ultra on the Apple website this morning (£19.95) & opted to collect in store, thinking I could ask for the protector to be fitted in store, but when I asked, they told me that they would need to refund me for the protector I purchased for collection (& return it to stock), then put through a new transaction for the machine fitted version. It cost me £29.95 for the machine fitted version, so basically a £10 premium for having it fitted.

The regular ‘fit yourself’ protectors are in cardboard retail style packaging, whilst the protectors that are fitted in store are in cellophane packaging and they have them stacked in a pile next to the machine on one of the tables.

I figure that this is a bit of a money spinner for Apple - the service was proving popular in the Liverpool store this afternoon, with four of us queing to have a protector fitted to iPhone X...there were more staff on hand to fit the protectors than machines, the assistant who served me mentioned that the store currently only had one machine for the iPhone X (think they had multiple machines in store for the other models of iPhone)

Something not right here as the price is the same... I paid £19.95 at Apple Belfast for mine!

Got mine from John Lewis today but it has a small chip in the stainless steel.

John Lewis have no stock for a while now but I do still have my online order from Apple that I haven’t cancelled yet.

If I keep the online order, can I return the John Lewis iPhone to the Apple Store for a refund using the Apple online order receipt?

You will need to go back to John Lewis as that's who the transaction is with.

Unfortunately I don’t think you can as the receipt is tied to serial number of device.

I got an iPhone 5 from Carphone warehouse and one of the little screws next to the changing port was stuck out. Took it to Apple and they gave me a new phone. In and out in 10 minuets.

What if I then manage to reserve one with Apple for collection tomorrow?
I assume they would swap it with the reserved one as a warranty replacement.
I maybe wrong and I hope I am for your sake. Never assume anything is the golden rule. Best to check. John Lewis operate a returns and refund policy.

I’m tempted to go get the Apple screen protectors they sell instore as long as it fits nicely around the phone.

Did you get the Belkin Invisiglass or the Belkin Anti-Glare protector? In store, I heard the assistant telling a customer that the Anti-Glare was £19.95 fitted, but that the Invisiglass was £29.95 fitted. The weird thing is that the ‘non machine fitted’ versions of BOTH protectors are priced at £19.95, so not sure why they charge more to machine fit the Invisiglass version?!?

Yep 6am club, spoke to an apple employee at regent street and he said there was a big wave of people picking up their phones at 11am today. After talking to a couple sounds like there were about 100 (maybe more) in stock for pickup today.

I'm guessing they got botted to hell, he did say there weren't any 256Gb Silver models to pick up today.Fingers crossed there are tomorrow because that's what I'm after.

Hopefully we do get our phones early next week, should get easier every day to do reserve and collect as resale value falls

How do I employ a bot -__-

Well I'm just speculating they are being botted, there's £1000s in it and the reserve and collect website doesn't seem to have any sort of measures to prevent the carting bots that people make. Though there is that step for putting in an Apple ID (I have to do 2-step auth) so I guess it can't be fully automated.

InvisiGlass here. They didn’t have any stock in store for take home versions. So when I handed in the one I lifted from the shelf. The girl took the model and went and got one from the machine and fitted it there and then. I can’t see how it would be more expensive considering there is no packaging involved and would surely be cheaper to the manufacturer, Belkin

Thanks to everyone replying to my question re Apple store screen protectors :)

What are the differences between the two they offer? Seems one of them gives you better viewing in bright light? I’m just after the thinnest and scratch resistant.

Anyone having issues with snapchat, not really an issue but it's weird whenever you take a pic it zooms out... so weird
also spotify is not optimised yet:(

Were there no 256GB Silver at all? Or did he mean that there were none for walk-in, but there were some that people had reserved?

My understanding is that the Anti Glare protector is made from plastic, whilst the Invisiglass is made from glass (really thin glass). I am pleased with my machine fitted Invisiglass & would definitely recommend.

Is it thin? Really want one as if there’s nothing there but also giving it protection to scratches. Cheers
