Newbie here and a bit late to join the party...

Ordered my SG 256GB on 27/10, e-mail confirmation at 08:08. Annoyingly it gave me a delivery for yesterday right up until the confirmation came through when it changed to 13-20!

Tried the reserve this morning and had one until it asked for verification of Apple ID with a code, had gone by the time I'd entered the code and refreshed back to the main page telling me no stock!

Still have my 13-20 order, but noticed today that the pending transaction on my Barclaycard has disappeared. I'd assumed this was just because it had been over a week, but then when I ordered my Watch3, the pending payment on PayPal sat there until it was dispatched.

Has anyone else seen a change in pending payments on cards? My order status is still showing as "Order in Progress" online.

Do all Apple stores have a machine to fit screen protectors? Is the catch that you have to buy the protector in store? Does it cost extra for them to fit it and how long is the process?

Thanks in advance

Don’t know for definite if every store has the machine, but I would guess they do. The Belkin protectors they fit in store are a different part number/slightly different to the protectors you can fit yourself. I purchased a Belkin Invisiglass Ultra on the Apple website this morning (£19.95) & opted to collect in store, thinking I could ask for the protector to be fitted in store, but when I asked, they told me that they would need to refund me for the protector I purchased for collection (& return it to stock), then put through a new transaction for the machine fitted version. It cost me £29.95 for the machine fitted version, so basically a £10 premium for having it fitted.

The regular ‘fit yourself’ protectors are in cardboard retail style packaging, whilst the protectors that are fitted in store are in cellophane packaging and they have them stacked in a pile next to the machine on one of the tables.

I figure that this is a bit of a money spinner for Apple - the service was proving popular in the Liverpool store this afternoon, with four of us queing to have a protector fitted to iPhone X...there were more staff on hand to fit the protectors than machines, the assistant who served me mentioned that the store currently only had one machine for the iPhone X (think they had multiple machines in store for the other models of iPhone)

Love to see some pics of if. How close to the edge it goes, thickness near bottom edge

If want fitted though I think you have to buy in store as opposed to ordering one you do yourself online. The DIY kit is actually £10 cheaper than the one they fit in store.

I have used these for my last couple of phones and the fit is second to none. However I do find the Belkin glass breaks more easily than other brands. It can therefore get expensive to have to keep replacing!!!!

Yes the hold on mine has gone now too. Won’t see it now until it ships and the card is fully charged

Great info, thanks.

I’ve got an iup for 18/11. Hoping for it to slide left a bit. Gutted, as it’s the first iPhone that I haven’t made launch day. Oh well, it is only a phone!

Here you go...

It’s great

Last pic is another unopened and unsold iPhone X, returning it tomorrow

The kit that they fit in store costs £29. The one to order online (for delivery or store pickup) costs £19 and they don’t fit it.

So if you want a case from Apple, the screen protector and the wireless charger you need approximately £135 extra. I just got the leather case, for the rest I’ll check amazon.

I’ve not made launch day stock for a few years now down to the app/site always appearing later than for others.

If you were getting it delivered at least you could console yourself with the additional tracking from China etc that will happen on here soon! Given you have IUP you’ll just have to sit tight

Also to add, that battery is what’s remaining from a full days use...up since 8am

Nice one thanks. Why the return?
Ordered two, got both for day 1 and don’t need both! Didn’t get round to cancelling it in time!!

Yes and no. Yes they all have the machines. No you don’t have to pay extra, just buy the screen protector

Anyone having crap battery life? On my first charge I just managed 6 hours of usage. Dunno if that’s normal or not but usually got way better on the 7 plus.

Usually from the indexing it needs to do and from you not being able to leave it alone for 5 minutes!

I don’t think it is. On both pics there’s a weird blue dot under all of the clouds and stuff
That is indeed lens flare and all cameras do it to some extent if you have a bright light source in the frame. To see whether the X does it more than previous iPhones or not we need more testing...

It will 99% come before the 13th. I reckon early next week. Well probably get updates tomorrow evening and they’ll probably arrive Wednesday or Thursday. Apple will never let their deliveries be late.

What about those towards the end of the month do you think they’ll be earlier?

Well I guess we have to wait for the dispatch notification for the fund to disappear, mine is not showing as pending. I paid with the debit card stored in my :apple: account
