Bastard UK Mail totaly failed to deliver my phone today. Out for delivery since 8:40 but no sign of it by the time I left work at 5pm. :mad:

As I said to some one else on here, keep an ear out for them. In my experience they will turn up late in the evening, weekend, whenever suits them. Regardless of what their CS tell you the hours of delivery are. That user later posted they turned up Saturday (after missing Friday) despite being told it would be Monday.

Effectively the delivery drivers are all self employed and largely autonomous. They come and grab the batch of parcels and get paid per delivery. They can do them as they please in terms of routing. And a blind eye appears to be turned to turning up outside of actual hours.

Hi, please allow me to apologise for any inconvenience caused to you. We are aware of an issue on the website which was allowing customers to choose a delivery date for the delivery of the iPhone X, however we never received the stock from Apple until yesterday, which is the reason for the delay. Your order will be delivered anytime up until the 24th November and you'll be sent an email and text to confirm the delivery information when it becomes available. The order status shows that the stock is there and has been allocated to your order so now it's just a matter of waiting until we have a confirmed delivery date for you. I can understand how frustrating this must be for you and I would like to assure you it will be with you soon. Sorry again for any inconvenience - Lauren
 
Yesterday at about 16:30. Apparently some people went into PFD today and have since received dispatch notifications. My delivery is scheduled for tomorrow now anyway. :)
Thanks. It would make sense that if an order goes into PFD in the morning, it'll be dispatched later that evening, but if it goes into PFD in the afternoon, it's dispatched the following morning.

However, that's probably not the case for all! I suppose it's silly trying to find patterns because there's too much variance.

There's been some pattern with the orders I guess, but it's not rigid. Some of the people who ordered at my time (08:13) went PFD the same time as me but dispatched this morning. Luck of the draw I guess! Seems that people at later time stamps dispatched before me too. Best of luck, fingers crossed you'll be one of the last out this evening.

I suppose the only saving grace is that the message is honest and doesn't come across as a pre-written template.

So many times I contact an online store and get a garbled reply that doesn't answer my question and is clearly just pre-approved paragraphs spliced together.

It's gone 7pm now and I'm still stuck on PFD. I've accepted it's not going anywhere tonight.

It's actually kind of cheeky to take money from someone's card in the morning and not send the goods that day. I'm sure they've got a lot of orders but they've got the stock to fulfil those orders and they could surely have anticipated the demand and ensured they'd got the right level of staff to deal with them. Ah well!
 
So I went and collected mine from the UK MAil depot whilst on my way to Uni. Crossing some of the worst roads known to man and into the armpit of Kent that is Sittingbourne... however, I was able to make it out with all my belongings and absolutely love this device. Seriously guys, you’re in for a treat and more deliveries will come out!

My only slight reservation is I cannot view the numerical battery percentage without pulling down control centre - if any users have a fix for this do let me know!

It’s fantastic, and I wish you all well and will check back on the thread here and there to answer any questions - if I get any more info I’ll post it too!
 
Quick update: my X arrived and it’s gorgeous. I'm SO loving going back to a smaller form factor from the plus. The screen size isn’t quite as big but it’s fine and well worth it for a phone that no longer looks the length of a plank of wood!!

If you’re thinking of wavering and giving in to getting an 8 because your X isn’t coming soon enough try and hang on in there. It’s well worth the wait :)

Had my phone delivered this afternoon. For those still waiting, hang in there, it’s absolutely stunning. I was worried coming from a 7+ but weirdly it seems bigger and I can type much faster. Face ID is mental good. Works perfectly every time for me (very often I’m sitting there not realising it’s unlocked already). It’s so fluid and fast and well worth the wait.

Not much use listening out for it, it was being delivered to my work address and I'm now at home!

Well, Apple refused to exchange my X and seemed genuinely surprised that I wanted my money back. Until I asked if they'd be happy with a phone that wasn't pristine after spending a grand!
Left with my money and no phone.
Early days, but I think I'm done with Apple.
