Tempted to use my Vodafone Flexi upgrade to get an iPhone X on Nov 3rd (cannot upgrade before that date) was looking at Note 8 contracts to get an idea of cost and bracing myself for the iPhone X.

Hopefully by then it should be easier to get hold of one specially if it's going to be in limited quantities on launch date.

Fingers crossed for a 128/256 option with 4k video at 60 fps that's going to need a lot of space to store videos.

You will receive an email from them in due course giving you a number of options including cancellation. Just click on that option to let them know that you are no longer interested. Very simple.

Thanks for that.

I think I’m most nervous about the price reveal tomorrow. Really hope it’s not too far north of £1000.

I've mentally prepared myself for £1150 ish. Really hope that's the the top GB model, which I don't need. £1050 for the 128GB is what I'm hoping for.

I think it will be around £1000 for 64GB of the iPhone X.
I'm hoping there's a 64GB version of the X and the price is south of 1k. Its not about affordability it's about convincing myself to shell that out!
I keep trying to change my delivery address and card details on the App, I save it but it keeps reverting to what was previously stored. Anyone else having this problem? Any advice?

You should change both your billing and shipping address, perhaps the app is trying to load an old billing/shipping address because of that.

Probably £999 due to the psychological barrier. I hope it's £949 though, in line with their pricing structure for 7 and 7+ last year.

I got my 7 Jet Black more than a month late from Vodafone due to the delays. Their pre order system is a mess - both over the phone and online. Just check their forum for last year's pre order thread, it was in shambles.

I would advise you put your order in ASAP to have the best chance of getting it. Some people got their Jet Black iPhones in December or even in January even after pre ordering it on launch day, the OLED iPhone will be in a lot of demand for many months, so it's best to order it ASAP, and ideally from Apple and not a carrier.

Right now I'm being prepared to be paying at least £1100 for the 256GB model.

What I'm interested on is the contract prices. On EE with the upgrade every 12 months will they price it at £70 a month but with just a much larger upfront cost.

O2 were a massive shambles last year. I pre-ordered the 256GB 7 Plus in silver within seconds of pre-orders opening at 8am. My brother ordered the same handset at 16:30 on the same day. He got his handset on launch day and I still hadn't received mine a week later. That's why I went for the Apple Upgrade on the 23rd

Oh yeah O2 were the worst. EE handled it the best IMO (lots of communication every day regarding progress, CEO handing his iPhone 7 to a customer, etc), but all carriers had problems with fulfilling pre orders, especially for the 7 Plus and Jet Black iPhone.

The problem was that you could get a different story from each O2 CS representative in a 15 minute spell. One would tell you you would get it at launch, another that they do not know when. My personal gripe was when I kept getting told that it's processed by order time, when I had a clear example that it wasn't!

Same with Vodafone. They kept giving me new dates, their online tracker didn't show any progress, every time I called I would get a different answer, their online chat agents were useless and lied a lot (well, what more can I expect from outsourced customer service reps), etc.

Pre ordered on Sep 9 in morning, got the phone on Oct 14 in afternoon, after countless calls, emails, and chats every day. I'll just get it directly from Apple this time, it's a million times better.

I don't have a problem with Apple allocating more stock to themselves and less to carriers, my problem is with these carriers that give you no clear information about the progress on deliveries and stock and keep you updated on it and when you call or try talking to them they keep lying to you and give you a different answer every time you talk (different reps give different answers), and that absolutely pisses me off. I can't believe a company that deals with communication fails so hard at communicating to their customers.

Nail. On. Head.

not sure how the upgrade programme is gonna work this year. Still instore only? I'm currently on it and eligible

In a similar vein, it's worth reminding anyone who is considering an O2 Refresh contract this year to check how much they're paying for the phone. O2 have previously had a sneaky habit of charging more than Apple for the popular iPhone models. You'd probably be better going Sim Only and buying on the Apple IUP than using Refresh. To say that it's 0% interest yet charge more than RRP on a device seems very unreasonable!

I will be doing it in store through Vodafone as I am on a 24 month contract with the flexibility to upgrade anytime after the first 6 month period has finished so until that point I will keep my current phone.

It's cheaper also for me to renew again rather than taking out an additional agreement with Apple which would bump up my costs considerably.

Good luck, I got my 128GB Jet Black iPhone more than a month late after pre ordering from Vodafone. Many people got theirs in November/December and even in January the next year. If you pre order in November, you'll be the at the back of an already large queue to get the OLED iPhone.

In no rush too be honest and the longer it takes the cheaper it will be to upgrade anyway.

On the question of price it is worth bearing in mind that last year's prices were quite an increase over the year before supposedly to reflect the reduction in the value of the pound against the dollar after the referendum in June 2016.

For example the iPhone 6S launched at £539 in September 2015, compared to the iPhone 7 release price of £599 a year later (a £60 hike). The iPhone 6S Plus launched at £619 whereas the iPhone 7 Plus was priced at £719 (an incredible £100 price rise). Obviously these were the prices for the base models with minimum storage capacity.

The pound has not fared well in the last year seeing even further reductions in value so it would not surprise me at all if Apple took the opportunity to hike prices again. If they do that then it seems fairly inevitable that the iPhone X will be £1,000 or more bearing in mind that they will have to add a price premium over and above the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus to reflect the superior features of this flagship product.

Brace yourselves!

P.S. I really hope that I am wrong though. :)

The current Pound to Dollar exchange rate is almost identical to this time last year so there is no reason for Apple to hike the prices again this year.

Current rate - £1 = $1.3188
Rate on 11/09/16 - £1 = $1.3286
