Having told myself I wouldn't be switching back to iOS any time soon, the (very strong) rumour of this OLED iPhone in a great form factor with all bells and whistles is making me tempted already.

The only thing I just can't deal with, is this rollercoaster of unknown every single damn year.
I couldn't get hold of a Plus in matte black for love nor money last year and in the end managed to get one through istocknow at Birmingham which I had to travel to pick up.

My sisters both ordered from Vodafone (one being jet black) for their upgrades and went through painful call after call after false info on availability and delivery dates.
Every year it is a farce as Apple just don't seem to make as many handsets that they need to in order to meet demand.

Whilst I'm sure that's an almost impossible task, they really didn't seem to communicate this to the networks very well as everyone was kind of in the same boat about stock inventory and when it was expected to arrive.
I don't think I can deal with going through it all again as it really does take the shine off the excitement of getting it when it's a brand new design of iPhone. Something people have waited for for years now.

Who am I kidding though? I'll do whatever I can to try and get one asap.

You prob meant 8 and 8+ and not 8 and 8S.

Anyway, why would Apple price the X 128GB same as 8+ 256? The pricing differs for each category/model. Most likely it will be like this:

iPhone 8 64 GB £599
iPhone 8 256 GB £699

iPhone 8+ 64 GB £719
iPhone 8+ 256 GB £819

iPhone X 64 GB £949
iPhone X 256 GB £1049
iPhone X 512 GB £1149

My guess is as follows:

iPhone 8 32 GB £599
iPhone 8 128 GB £699
iPhone 8 256 GB £799

iPhone 8+ 32 GB £719
iPhone 8+ 128 GB £819
iPhone 8+ 256 GB £919

iPhone X 64 GB £939
iPhone X 256 GB £1029
iPhone X 512 GB £1209

For the X I am using the same price increments as the iPad Pro between storage sizes.

I have a suspicion they will keep the 32GB size on the 8/8+, as it provides a lower price entry point. Recently when Apple have increased storage size for new models (e.g. on iPad Pro) they have also increased the prices accordingly.

Give or take £30 or so I don't think anyone is going to be that far off with the pricing to be honest.
[doublepost=1505145260][/doublepost]Last year I told myself.... £719 is way too much yet I brought a 7 Plus anyway and also told myself no way will I pay more than that for my next phone *ahem*

Can people tell me about their experience with upgrades through O2 or CPW last year. Did they go live at 8:00am? Was it a smooth process?

Can anyone assist with a query I have about the pre-order? If your lucky enough to get through and bag yourself a iPhone on the pre-order does the payment method slow the process down? By this I mean once you've selected your iPhone would choosing to pay by the finance route of barclays/PayPal affect the dispatch date if you were lucky enough to have one sent out in the first batch? Is it a case of once you've made your choice on the website/app and it's in the shopping bag the delivery date is already set?

There is always a delay when doing finance as it needs to be approved first so even if you manage to get one bagged and in the basket by the time it's been approved it may well arrive later than others who brought it out right.

How about getting a 0% credit card over 24 months or more and just using that to avoid any delays?

Thanks. Yes thats always an option. Got the money in the bank just hate parting with it tho! I had a feeling that the delay in that payment process would push it back compared to a straight forward upfront payment.

It would be too late to get a card issued and delivered for Friday (if that’s when pre sales happen).

Not that I’d condone people racking up credit card debt for a phone

PayPal UK has 0% over 4 months on anything so that could be an option as well and you get an instant decision without no waiting for cards to arrive.

I would love this to be the case. I would probably splash on 256GB at this price. I will go up to £1050 for mid-tier, otherwise I’ll go down to the lower tier. So if it’s £999 for 64 and £1099 for 256 I will go down to 64 I think, but if it’s £949 for 64 and £1049 for 256 I’ll probably go 256. I’m not sure why but the difference between £1049 and £1099 falls somewhere over the line of “nope, too much now.”

How come? Can’t you just use the website on the same device your app is on?

Historically the app has come online sooner than the site so you might lose a few minutes

All good found a way round it , I can do it through the app now thankfully , wouldn’t want to miss out on a few minutes if the supply shortage is as big as being reported. Interesting , guess we will find out tomorrow.

Is Apple Pay quicker and less prone to failure than card payment on the Apple Store app?

Apple Pay is a nightmare for these pre-orders.

Both my iPhone 7 Plus and iPad Pro orders used Apple Pay and both failed, but only at the point Apple tried to dispatch. I think it’s something to do with the delay between authorising and completing the payment.

O2 was a nightmare last year. I ordered a 256 Silver plus seconds after 8am. My bro ordered the same device at 16:30 the same day. His turned up on launch day and mine hadn't turned up a week later. In the end I went with the Apple Upgrade, and will be doing the same this year.

Just received an email from Mujjo about the new iPhone cases.

Going to buy an X direct from Apple using the app. Paying on my wife’s card so changed billing details from within the app to her card. Does it matter the billing name differs from the name against the Apple ID and shipping details?

My plan is to try and pre order one via the apple website using my credit card for inshore collection, and will sign up for the upgrade program when in store?

Guessing my card won't be charged until I collect it.

I did this last year and they gave me the option to go on the upgrade plan in store..

If you buy it upfront and switch to iUP, do you get a refund of the whole amount - deposit? Or do they consider the phone paid off till next year? Do they do a credit check?

I pre-ordered online last year and reserved for in-store collection on launch day. To my surprise full payment was taken a few days before collection.

You are right, I’ve just checked last year’s emails, the payment was processed on the 15th of September, the day before.
