I couldn’t agree more. Costing me £600 this year for a brand new iPhone XS Max 256GB. It’s expensive for your first buy but for, err, about £50 a month for a new phone every year, to me, it’s worth it.
I always do the same but this year been a big hit. I gave my 7+ away free to one of my kids otherwise I would of got decent money for it towards the 256GB Max.

I had one for the X (SG so has a more resilient coating that the silver). I used many other cases during the year, but have ended up with no scratches what so ever, not even micro ones (i had had some from similar cases on my 7+).

My phone sits on my desk/in my pocket, so maybe if i worked outdoors/used the phone without clean hands etc it may have suffered more, and I do swap cases regularly and clean the phone and case each time i do, so maybe that helps stop any build up of anything that could scratch the phone?

Might buy a few £10 ones off Amazon then and swap them over every few weeks and give them a clean, whilst i wait for for my slickwraps order or a decent rear glass protector.

Thanks for the info. ;)

If I was to buy the Xs Max 256gb through Very with the 10% discount, the device total would come to £1,124. If I then chose the 12 month interest free option, I'd choose to pay £50 a month, so at the end of the 12 months the remaining balance would be £530 (£1,124 - (12 x £50)). I'd then sell the phone before upgrading to the new iPhone next year.

Doing the above would technically mean I was only paying just £600 for the new phone over the 12 months. Can anyone see a problem or issue with doing it this way? Seems too good to be true...

Can you arrive earlier to pick up your phone? My slot is at 9-9:30 but I can now make 8.

You could try your luck, but with it being iPhone and Apple watch launch day and all the logistical juggling that must bring to the store, my guess would be that you'll be told you need to stick to your slot.

I see no problem with that, just remember to pay it off before the 12 months is up or they add the whole first years interest on in one go!

Anyone on EE spoken to them or have any info on how you can (if you can) get them to swap your line from their SIM card to the internal eSIM, so you can go dual-SIM?

I bought my phone from Apple, but I’m moving from O2 to EE SIM only. Got the 40GB SIM for £20 with 20% corp discount, and the 5GB tablet SIM only for £10.40 with corp discount.

So I have my employee Corp discount code; did you get your 20% discount via EE or the EE work benefit portal ?

Albeit ‘am eligible to upgrade my SIMO plan now earlier than November, however ‘am leaning towards another Black Friday EE freebie galore :p

My temporary case and Tozo screen protectors are here woohoo. Got the Ringke military grade case just to keep it protected til I find my perfect case (£7.99 Amazon), and the Tozo screen covers come with the frame tool for perfect application every time. They have a 12 month warranty but my iPhone 7 Plus one is still on and perfect 2 years later , ( also £7.99 amazon).

Last year they wouldn't let you - there were people showing up when I was there at 8am with 2pm slots and they were told to come back.

....I'm sure you'll get seen before your slot if you're there early!

I arrived around 8am, last year when my slot was at 09:00-09:30 as I was expecting to queue (there was no queue and less than 10 customers there when I arrived) but I was seen straight away and was out the store even before 09:00!!

That was for the iPhone 8 Plus, which perhaps, was probably just as popular as the XS.

I entered my voucher code from my benefits portal into my basket on the EE site. I had to call them after as I messed up and for some reason it didn’t take the discount despite showing me the discount initially. They sorted it tho.

So specifically:
- Add the phone SIM
- Add the voucher code
- Add further SIMs

It showed £30.40 in basket (£38 with 20% discount) but when I completed the order it showed £38. I called up and they sorted it and applied the 20% discount.

Has anyone else gone the iPhone payments route? It’s £10 cheaper a month compared to the iup. I assume you can just sell the iPhone after 12 months and pay off the rest of the balance, and go again? Almost like the iup but with an extra step.

...that would be taking the p155 though turning up at 8am with a 2pm slot expecting to be seen!

If you have a 9am or 9:30 am slot and you turn up at 8am, I'm pretty sure they won't turn you away (depending on how busy the store is).

So then, last year I got the X and LOVE it. No way I could justify getting the XS :(
It took me until 10am Friday morning to realise that I can just buy the XS Max!!! I used the Plus phones for a couple of years before the X and the extra screen on the Max should be amazing.
I’m buying it just to review and assess but I suspect I’ll find it more or less impossible to send it back once I have it!!
Unfortunately that couple of hours hesitation put me into the 24th-1st delivery bracket but other years it would have been worse ;)
