Just an update on this. I called Apple Sales this morning who told me I now cannot pay using iPhone Payments, as it’s only available in store and I’ve ordered online. Despite the fact I’ll be paying in store on Friday anyway.

Does this sound right?

Sounds like you placed an online order rather than following through an IUP link to reserve and set up?

Even if you want to move to IP you can take your phone back into store ‘refund it’ and then buy it back signing up to IP.

Last years X I did that (for IUP)

Should do. The Xs max is the same size as the pluses.
Any experience with EE pre-orders? I pre-ordered mine and hope to get it on Friday. Unfortunately, it doesn’t seem realistic, based on what I read on the EE’s forum.
im on those forums and nothing looks too bad tbh. I’ve been tracking apples own delivery leads from 8am as well as ee’s Expected delivery and all looks ok.

Only issue I had ever was on the iPhone 7 Plus. That was a 3 1:2 week delay, but got upgraded to a 256gb free of charge and £30 ee credit for my trouble ha ha

There seems to be some confusion with in store pickups. You still purchase the phone online and instead of having it delivered to your house/work it goes to an Apple Store instead hence why the money has been taken and all.

I believe iUP was only available for reservations but I may be wrong.

General reservations open at 6am on Saturday morning where you don’t pay anything and choose when you get to the store how you would like to pay for it

A year ago, I ordered my 8 Plus online for store pick-up and no money was taken from my card as I was paying in store. I simply said I wanted to join the Upgrade Programme when I was there in person, and they even explained the ins and outs of the iPhone Payments plan, too.

I've ordered an XS Max for store pickup and plan to put it on to the iPhone Payments plan.

I sold my 8+ for £380 so it cost me £720 for my new phone and I have a £12 a month sim only contract.

You hit the nail on the head here.

I've not paid full price for a new iPhone since.. erm... iPhone 5? I don't actually remember it's been that long....

Having to defend a phone purchase is getting boring....

Ordered my case for instore collection when I pick my phone up on friday. The last couple of weeks have been a horror show though so just waiting for something / everything to go wrong. If anyone's going to the Trafford Centre on Friday i'll be the girl trying to look cool AF while actually stupidly excited (I kind of miss getting there for 4am on launch day!)

Years gone by that would have been me too! ....I can't justify the time off work though now.... #oldmanproblems

Tell me about it - I have to do the school run first now! I work from home so will be stretching the 'home' part for an hour or so on Friday. The year the payment systems went down I worked in the Apple Store for about 2.5 hours (they were fine with this!!)

What do we need to bring with us to Apple when signing up to iUP? Just a driving license and provide bank details?

I'll be there! My collection window is 8:30-9. Not been to the store on launch day for a few years now, so kinda looking forward to seeing what its like now. Still masses of scalpers i guess, but at least the die hard fans can pre order now rather than getting pushed back down the queue as more randoms push in with their wads of cash.

I'm a bit later (10am) due to school run commitments (I forgot last year in the excitement of booking an 8am slot and caused all sorts of childcare issues). Last year they had a queue running along towards Victoria's Secret, and then a shorter reservation queue the other side of the store. Lots of security but all v.helpful.

I like those plastic ultra thin cases but they seem to get dust caught and scratch the side of the phone (mainly in the corners on my 7 Plus.

Not sure how the X or XS/XS Max will hold up with the glass back and stainless steel sides though.

Anyone use one on the X?

I had one for the X (SG so has a more resilient coating that the silver). I used many other cases during the year, but have ended up with no scratches what so ever, not even micro ones (i had had some from similar cases on my 7+).

My phone sits on my desk/in my pocket, so maybe if i worked outdoors/used the phone without clean hands etc it may have suffered more, and I do swap cases regularly and clean the phone and case each time i do, so maybe that helps stop any build up of anything that could scratch the phone?

I'll have to call back at lunch to make sure I can definitely do that. Do they refund immediately?

So I changed my mind and went for the Gold. I can’t cancel my Space Grey which is due to be delivered on Friday as it’s preparing for dispatch now., so I’ll just have to return it.

I ordered the Gold Max 64gb yesterday. I was hoping it might get bumped up to delivery on Friday but still processing items and its due to be delivered next week.

Get this one. Cheaper and just as good.

S9, S9+ Fast Wireless Charger, 2 Coils QI Wireless Charging Stand for iPhone X, iPhone 8, iPhone 8 Plus, Galaxy Note 8, S8, S8+, S7, S7 Edge, S6 Edge Plus, Nexus 7/6/5/4, and Other QI-Enabled Devices https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B074KFCZ24/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_tai_-LUNBb3DRPJTY

At what speed will this charge the iPhone though? Seems like only standard speed, rather than fast charging? Not sure what real-world effect this will have though, as I'm upgrading from a 7 Plus to an XS Max, so wireless charging will be all new to me!

Thinking of ordering from Very and getting the 10% off and 12 months interest free. Is there a code to enter or do you get offered this when signing up? Couldn’t see anything on the site..
