Despite my reservations about FaceID it actually works pretty well.

Disappointed about the gold tbh. I wish it was a bit more “yellow”. It really isn’t far off silver in the hand

Guys, normally I set up my iPhone as new, so I may just do that, the only thing is it has lots of passwords stored on chrome and safari etc. If I do a back up and restore would it copy all that across?

Also, what is the process for unpairing a watch (data I do want backing up and restoring) then pairing to new phone and restoring from back up?

Cheers

Unpair watch > backup to iCloud > restore from iCloud on new phone > Pair watch > restore from watch backup

A backup is created when you unpair, then it is backed up to iCloud with all your other phone settings.

Unpair watch from old iPhone.
Run iCloud or encrypted iTunes backup.
Set up new iPhone & restore from that backup - during setup it will ask you if you want to use the watch with the new phone if they are close together when you run setup & if you want to restore the watch from a backup as well.

So i've just called and cancelled my X AppleCare and they're refunding £112.74 back to Barclays for me.

I have £575.55 left on my loan, minus the AppleCare refund, leaving me £187.19 better off after selling my X to magpie for £650!

crazy how people will be just going into store and handing them back in and swapping for a new phone.. apple are raking it in with IUP.

Thanks Jinjin, you’re a star! With £74.60 AppleCare refund and the Music Magpie tech10 additional 10% I’ll be £163 better off. Alternatively, for £277 I could keep the 8+ as a spare. Makes a lovely iPad Micro!

Apple just told me they will contact Barclays, who email within 10 working days with confirmation of the final balance.

I don’t want to have to use this thing in a case but since I must, I’m glad I went with the Saddle Brown leather. Looks gorgeous with the gold.

So a bit earlier on I ordered from CPW for delivery tomorrow and cancelled my Apple order. Have just had my DPD link come through, it will be here tomorrow.

(There was a CPW store with it in stock about 40 minutes away, but I didn't get a chance with work to get across there. Still, I'm happy with tomorrow -- especially as we're going away next Thursday until the following Tuesday, so I was sweating that a bit!)

Really do like the look of my Space Grey Max with the Cod Cape Blue, but might try the red leather or forest green in a few months as im not sure how it will hold up. Time will tell.

How are people finding the new Apple Watch? I think im going to pick one up probably after Christmas to replace my 42mm Series 2.

Would be getting the 44mm.

you can call barclays and find your outstanding balance yourself. Its just likely that they'll not have received the payment from Apple yet. You can deduct the amount refunded by apple from that balance, and pay that off or do what I'm doing in just paying the remaining balance and then when Apple refund barclays, they'll see the account is in credit and refund me.

...so @Jinjin, what made you decide to go for the XS Max in the end?!
just looked great in store, and tried it with a case and felt comfortable... I see how next few days/week go and see how I feel then.. will have some 'real world' usage by then and not just being blinded by the Apple store lights!
