...apologies if I have misunderstood but if AppleCare is for 24 months, I have only had my 8 Plus for 12 months.

When I hand back my 8 Plus, in order to upgrade, what happens to the remaining 12 months of AppleCare - does it then just cancel?

That’s right. Apple care is tied to a device and not transferable. When you upgrade, say after 11 payments, you’ve only paid for 11/20 of Apple care (the months you’ve had your 8+). The new upgrade on IUP is a completely new agreement, credit check, initial £69 all again.

I’m sure there will be people who have IUP but may not pass the credit check second time around when upgrading

So I can pre-order for collection without paying up front? Of have I completely misread your post haha?

That’s the bit I can’t quite remember as I usually buy outright and have delivered. I’m sure people last year have reserved stock on pre order for IUP or iPhone payments and gone in store to collect. But I’d see if anyone can corroborate this

Your current agreement completely ends when you hand your phone back and upgrade. Apple essentially pays off the rest of your loan in exchange for the phone.

That is indeed correct - I reserved my 8 Plus via the Apple Store App on my phone, then went in to collect in store, and set up the IUP.

This is correct, it's exactly what I did.

Even though I had opted for IUP via the app, the sales rep asked me if I wanted to opt for iPhone Payments!

What are the chances of Apple this year allowing us to get pre-approved for the iUP before we go into store to collect the phone? I believe this is something you can do in the US right?

probably zero as in the UK, Apple expect you to go inshore to apply for credit, show ID etc to ensure you're credit worthy. The US have the ability to apply for IUP online, unfortunately we don't.

I find this a little odd, given that you can apply for credit, wether that be cards or a loan, online without having to see anyone in person.

yeah its a little 'backwards' of Apple for that reason. Probably more of a constraint applied by Barclays for the credit application process.

I initially bought the 32GB and returned, glad I did then opted for the 128GB.

For me it’s the sweet spot, it’s not absolutely overkill like the 256GB. It gives me enough breathing room, I’ll likely never use the full 128GB and I definitely won’t be using 256GB. However 64GB I’ve been passed that and recently managed to drop down to 52GB. Which is right on the border of usualable space of 64GB.

For the price I feel it should have definitely been 128GB last year for example.
For me at the minute I’m using Just over half of my available space, but I think if I remevived what I don’t use I could probably get away with 64gb.

I wouldn't think this would be an issue but, buying your iPhone and Apple care from the online store for home delivery wouldn't stop any chance of a launch day delivery would it?

Or am I better off ordering them separately?

Wasn't there a pre-approval process for the iUP last year? After the keynote, and before pre-orders? Or was that maybe just the USA?

Does anyone think that the Xs and Xs Max may not actually get released until the beginning of next month to allow the 11th payment for iPhone X buyers to go through as normal?

Seems a bit much to make people pay their 11th payment and their £69 initial payment for setting up the new deal?

If you got the iPhone at launch last year, then you should have already made the 11th payment. I have.

Preapproval form iUP was US only last year but would be great if they brought it to the UK. You can at least reserve for launch day online.

Anyone who’s used envirofone before, when do you get an extension to send your phone in? Is it closer to the 14 day date?

Did you get an 8 or an X? I got an X and I haven't paid my 11th payment yet as it didn't come out till the 3rd of November.

Given the X launched 3/11 the earliest 11th payment should be 3/10?

I didn’t get my phone till a week after launch so my upgrade date shows as 10/10.

All the small print shows that you’re able to upgrade after 11 payments rather than when a new phone is released. Clearly least years delay added that additional month. Apple would need to get this back on track at some point rather then delaying launches from their usual September.

Most people moving from the IUP X to this years phones should have 1 payment left (initial 8 owners should be ready to go). I’d rather pay the remaining payment a few weeks early, it’s coming out the bank sooner or later.

Obvs it might inconvenience people on tighter budgets
