Hi. You’ve not said which model you might be going for. I assume you’re looking to preorder 8.01 on Friday like the rest of us? :)

IMO the XS will be the phone with the greatest availability followed by the XS+ then 9.

Apples shipping estimates usually start with “delivers 24th, ships 3-7 days, 7-10 days, 1-2 weeks.. etc” (similar wording and timings etc)

The rate at which stock estimates change will depend on stock levels and demand so if you’re quick on the order first thing Friday (8.01am) then you’ll likely get release day stock or one soon after.

So worst case (based in my assumption in stock) you ordered a XS+ or 9 >8.20 onwards, you’ll be waiting a week or two for stock.

Saying all this, apple have history of under promising and over delivering. For the “high demand” of the X last year I placed my order at 8.08 and shipping estimates has slipped to 1-2 weeks, and moments later even further. (I’m not expecting the XS to be that quick off the shelf). Even based on my shipping estimates the order shipped quickly and was delivered and in my hands on the 9/10 with the release day being 3/10.

So my advice is be quick on the pre order, get our account in order (add the payment card you want to use in advance) and try getting on the website ASAP.

As it was mentioned before you can cancel your pre order before it’s ‘preparing for shipping’ so if you get a date you don’t like you can cancel (or wait a few days trying to secure store )

When it comes to trying to reserve in store stock, from the Saturday after launch day, so 22nd, you’ll be able to look at stock availability at Apple stores and reserve online. With this they usually update stock around 6am or people do get up early daily to check stock in the past. If you do find stock, you can reserve it and pop in store pay and collect.

It’s worth looking at sites like istocknow who offer live stock checkers with notifications.

If you’re also not fussed about buying directly from Apple, places like John Lewis, Argos, very.co.uk and others will have some stock too

Good luck!

yup, if the IUP upgrade is a breeze and I secure an XS for next friday, i'll be there!
Last year I couldn't get on the Apple app until about 8:07 and then in was 4 to 6 weeks shipping. Then, later on someone said about availability at CarPhone Warehouse. I placed an order just before mid day and received my iPhone X 256GB on launch day. So, there are options other than Apple.

You’re the same as me. It’s all about timing now. I hope we get a 7 day extension. All depends on if you can get a new iPhone for release day. Be lovely to get one then and then send the current X off.

Envirofone have always been happy to give an extension in previous years. Even without that I’ve got until Monday 24th to get my phone to them (and I can drive to their offices as they are local).

Hopefully the new phones will be available from Friday 21st. Fingers crossed!

I've got £650 guaranteed from MusicMagpie for my unlocked 256GB iPhone X until next Saturday - just as well, too. They're now offering £0 for that handset...

If anyone can get a good price from Plunc then I'd highly recommend them. Shame that they couldn't beat MusicMagpie when I was looking to lock in a price.

I’ve got £650 locked in until next Saturday too. Do you know if I have up until that time to go through the checkout process, and will then have additional time to send it?

This is incredibly helpful thank you so much! I'll be gunning for the largest capacity Xs they release and will be trying for the 8:01am preorder as well :)

Appreciate the advice from you and other posters. I'll make sure to check stores other than Apple too.

Good luck all!

XS in 512gb should be ok. If anything I’d expect the 64 and 256 (if that’s what flavours we’ll get) would sell quicker

I’m on iUP and would like to upgrade to the X Plus this Friday.

However, it looks like I’ll be away (on and off) from the 16th to the 30th of September, so I’m probably better of waiting until I’m definitely back so I can then pick up in store, hand my old one back etc, but I was hoping to avoid the next payment which is on the 21st.

Hi.
1) I'll be ordering two different phones and a series 4 watch. Do Apple wait for all items to be ready and post in one go or do they dispatch individually as they're available ?
2) Duel sim question - does that men i could use my work phone's sim alongside my personal sim (both on different networks) ?

After the 12th payment you might be better off selling the phone yourself and paying off the loan directly, the value of the phone should be greater than the remaining balance by then. Could make a little profit rather than just handing it back

1) there use to be talk of not ordering cases and phones together for that reason. I’d expect the devices to be delivered on their said date. If you can secure everything quickly they should all come next Friday.

I need to do the same for an Xs, series 4, AirPower and new AirPods if the latter two are out next week!

2) it’s still not clear to me if the dual sim was limited to certain regions; east Asia prominently. But if it was, then yes both sims in one phone!

Just a quick question on the iUP - After you have made 11 payments can you cancel the Apple Care for a refund ? (For example if you were planning on selling the phone and clearing the o/s finance).

Good question! I assume you can as they wouldn’t change the loan amount. I’d guess they’d refund the difference. Let us know if you find out!

Actually thinking about this more, pretty sure it would be refunded. As far as Apple know your device has paid for Apple care + and you cancelling that ‘should’ just refund the remaining months worth. Obviously the loan left with Barclays would still include the AppleCare cost.

Don’t know why I remember reading something recently, the small print maybe, which said something about the implications of cancelling the AppleCare.. maybe taking the device out of IUP. This clearly won’t be a problem if you’re selling the phone.

Just checked the terms and it seems any cancellation of Applecare means the refund is paid directly to the ‘bank’. So you might want to do that before you pay off the balance to make sure Barclays have received the credit.

Source: https://www.apple.com/uk/legal/sales-support/iphoneupgrade_uk/

7. Cancellation of Financed AppleCare+. If during the term of your Instalment Loan you cancel your Financed AppleCare+ policy associated with your iPhone Upgrade Programme or if it is cancelled in accordance with the AppleCare+ Terms and Conditions, any refund due on your Financed AppleCare+ will be paid to Bank as a payment toward any amount owed by you to Bank. If the AppleCare+ refunded amount is greater than the amount owed on the Instalment Loan, Bank will pay the balance to the bank account you used to enrol in the iPhone Upgrade Programme.

Got an email from UAG with a sneak peak and what appears to be a centered camera. Possibly the 9 with LCD?
Not sure if right thread, wasn’t immediately clear which one the speculation thread was :)

...that looks like an Android case?!

...so just to continue the theme - what happens to us lot who took out AppleCare, through the IUP, for our 8 Plus phones? Was this taken out over a 12 month term or for a 24 month term and does this then stop when we upgrade to the 'XS' and then a new one starts??!

I'm thinking of buying the next iPhone using iPhone Payments. Is there no way this can be done online? Don't really fancy my chances of walking into my local store come the 21st with any stock available.

No needs to be done in store for the credit check, Id etc

Pre order for collection in store. I bought my X our right and when it was delivered took it back in store for a refund and straight back onto IUP

AppleCare is always for 24 months cover but IUP means you pay for it over 20 instalments

When you upgrade you are starting all over again with new AppleCare contract on your new device

...apologies if I have misunderstood but if AppleCare is for 24 months, I have only had my 8 Plus for 12 months.

When I hand back my 8 Plus, in order to upgrade, what happens to the remaining 12 months of AppleCare - does it then just cancel?
