I have been trying to sell my iPhone XS Max for a week now since getting my XR.
Three eBay auctions later which have all ended and all been won by time wasters who have bid at the very last minute and then not wanted it.

I'm beginning to lose my patience.
It is on Gumtree too but all I am getting on there is people offering me £800 (it's the 256GB and is virtually brand new outside of being used for 3-4 weeks but had case and screen protector on the whole time) - or offering me a swap for another phone which I don't want.

Does anyone know of anywhere I can sell this? It's proving to be an impossible task.
Thanks
You’ll be lucky to get much more than 800 tbh. Market not there, especially at that price level for a second hand device

Has anybody had any success getting dual SIM to work with EE?

I called EE up to arrange for my main number to be transferred to an eSIM and the amount of confusion/mis-information on their part was astounding!

One chap told me all I had to do was plug the second SIM card into the existing slot (facepalm). Despite me telling him this was outright wrong, he insisted this was how the training demonstrator showed it to him?!

Just when I thought he'd finally grasped the situation, he sadly went and sent me an eSIM for a new number, which isn't what I wanted at all...

Different guy I spoke to has hopefully done what I've asked for!

yes, finally got mine set up yesterday.

call 150. be clear you want to speak to their specialised/dedicated esim team. Once you get through to them, they are super helpful and knowledgeable.

I ended up asking them to send me an esim pack in the mail - which arrived the very next day. Hopefully stores are more aware now, so u can try them too.

My main EE number (on a sim-only contract) is now the primary e-sim - and another EE PAYG sim card is currently in the physical sim tray.

Thanks for the advice, Newjack.

Fingers are crossed the second guy comes good. I want to be able to stick my work Vodafone SIM so I can stop carrying a second phone.

Go in store if you fail with the second esim, it was painful getting to activated on Wednesday but the procedure should be a little more known by now (it took over an hour and a half to activate one on Wednesday).

The eSim isn’t without issues though, sending texts from the secondary sim is a bit problematic and unless you use 12.1.1 you can’t switch the sim off without using Airplane mode and effectively switching both off.

There is a UK eSim thread with plenty of discussion in it.

Excellent. Thanks for the thread recommendation.

I'm guessing 12.1.1 is still in beta, though should be appearing soon given the recent security exploit reported?

Yes, unfortunately still in beta, but if you want to be able to turn individual sims off it’s the only current solution.

Though as a new user (to that forum) he’ll either have to send before payment or only deal in person which is likely to limit the number of prospective buyers.

Not true

The 3 auctions have all sold for £1000, £1000 and £980.
Obviously they were non-payers, but the bids have all gone well into the £900's each time.

I also followed 3 other XS Max's in same spec as mine and they all went for the same amounts.

Thanks though

Why not relist with a BIN and make it immediate payment required?

It just opens the door for people to email you and say "would you take £300 less than your BIN price?"
I find it easier to just list on a one day auction I just keep being unlucky with someone who isn't in this country bidding at the very last second and then not paying.

I may go down the BIN route though, running out of options.

You can just ignore those messages or just say no.

Or use a BIN and offers and make the BIN 10% higher than you actually want and it opens the door to near offers.

You can set offers to auto-decline anything under your lowest acceptable price.

BIN buyers tend to be more reliable than bidder buyers IME.

I was referring to not much more than £800 NET (after all fees etc)

I wouldn't shell out anywhere near £1000 for it - not when they are many codes floating about to buy brand new for not relatively much more (argos, very, using vouchers, cashback etc)

Well that's good for you that you're so savvy when you spend.
I personally feel like a £1250 phone for £1000 or in that region is also a good price when it is in basically brand new condition. It's a good saving on a brand new device just released.
But everyone is different.

Also, what you are looking to spend isn't the issue here. You know what you want to pay and that's that. You're not bidding £1000 at the last minute of the auction and then changing your mind, which is my problem here.

agreed.

pity you couldn't take back for full refund during the return period

U.K.
Yup.
The buyer has just paid though!
So ended up with £980 but minus fees of 10% which isn't too shabby.

Best get to the post office. :)
Can I ask why you purchased the phone in the first place - was it a case of 'itchy fingers'?

On a slightly different tack - how are you XR owners finding the screen. I have looked at the XR on at least three occasions now and I'm still struggling to find any fault with the screen and think it's little different in real world use than an OLED.

If you want.
It was my upgrade on o2.
So I opted for it and really liked it but when Apple held their event the XR was the one I knew I wanted.

Well I can attest to the build quality of the max.

Whilst I was changing my 5 month olds nappy and on a call my 2 year old swiped the phone and threw it down the stairs.

It’s perfectly fine not a mark on it. It’s in a spigen crystal clear hybrid case and has a glass screen protector.

It's more a testament to the Spigen. Great cases, my case of choice. I've dropped my phones onto concrete any number of times in a Spigen Tough Armor and there's not been a scratch on the phone.

Quick question.
It has been 2 weeks since I got my XR delivered - I am toying with swapping the colour over but am I still in the days to do this or does it have to be before 14 days - not on the 14th day?

Gonna nip to Trafford Centre tonight if so but if they won't do it then I won't bother!

Thanks in advance.

I think you have 14 days so you should be ok on day 14.
