Can you do an iCloud backup when charging wirelessly? I thought it had to be wired charging but when I look at the back up times in iCloud it’s usually overnight when I’m wirelessly charging my phone.
Don't know about that. Might be worth a go. I only ever charge wirelessly.

It appears you can, as my last iCloud backup on my Max was done overnight while on wireless charge...

Just to warn you EE pay monthly customers have to legally keep their phones for a minimum of six months before selling them. It’s in the contract.

Yeah, this has been debated many a time on these and other forums.

In reality, how would they know?

What do you think of the iPhone Upgrade Programme offering 0% interest finance?

iPhone XS, 64GB @ £57 for 20 months. Will sell iPhone 7 that I currently have to offset some of the cost.

Worth bearing in mind if you don’t want AppleCare+ you can do iPhone payments instead. Still 0% but you aren’t paying for AC+ so the monthly cost is lower by about £10 per month.

Only other difference is you can’t change phones after a year

But you can sell it yourself and pay off the remaining balance. A number of us did that this year for our XS IUP upgrades. Better value than just handing the phone back as in most cases the residual value of the handset will be greater than the remaining debt so you’ll be a few quid better off

That is what I am doing now. Never used AppleCare in 10 years of owning iPhones. I was with iup but managed to sell my X and get an AppleCare refund for £150 more than what I owed Barclays. Win win. Even music magpie were offering more than what I owed Barclays. Now I’m on iPhone payments as I intend to keep the saddle brown leather case on the phone for its life.

I will be doing the same again next year as after 12 months I will owe Barclays £412. Guaranteed even the mobile recycle sites will take an XS Max for more than £412. It’s a no brainer until Apple/mobile recyclers clock on to it.

Yeah, it’s almost too good to pass up. The only thing stopping me is potentially getting a XS with a rubbish screen (see the yellow tint threads).

FWIW, I bought my XS from an Apple Store last week and if anything, with True Tone off the display is actually on the cold side (at least to my eyes).

You can always return it if you aren’t happy with it.

Sorry I didn’t mean to seem like I was having a go. Just honestly found it eye watering. I’m not with virgin. I’m with Plusnet. I pay £6 a month for unlimited mins and 4gb. Does me fine.

Long as you’re happy that’s all that matters.

It is eye watering but that’s how it is if you want an expensive iPhone without paying for it upfront (some people can’t always afford to buy the phone outright), the only point I was trying to make was you can’t compare the service on EE to that on one of their MVNO’s.

I’m quite happy to be paying £12 a month for unlimited data on a sim free deal and having bought my XS direct from Apple.

My front and back screen protectors came today.

Will give this a go although I’m nervous already haha. Cases just annoy me a bit and I am yet to find a clear case that isn’t too bulky but looks good.
Never had a back screen protector before but will mean I can lay it on a desk or table now and not worry about it picking up scratches as it’s quite a thick protector.

Someone I work with recently got the Xs Max. Must admit it felt very sturdy in the hand but if/when finances allow I think I’d opt for the Xr.

Looking at various peoples’ posts on here it actually looks better in person than it does in Apple’s various marketing images.

Went to apple today for a look at the XR, the bezels are noticeably bigger than the XS but not bad at all. If I didn’t all ready have my gold XS I’d have 100% picked up a red XR.

Picked up my blue Xr on Friday and I have to be honest, at first I had a bit of “buyers remorse”
“Downgrading” from a X (an X?) I was a little disappointed by the thicker bezels and the screen is not quite as good
But, after an hour or so, love it
I’m really liking the slightly bigger screen, it does seem to make a big difference.
With my X, occasionally I would accidentally zoom while scrolling because a fold of the skin of my hand would be touching the bottom of the screen, with the thicker bezel this doesn’t happen.

And another thing to note
As always, a flawless upgrade! In and out of the apple store with ease (apple upgrade program) a restore from iCloud and the phone was up and running with everything set up like my old X

Remember the days of having to save your contacts to the sim only to find out your new phone didn’t store contacts in the same format! Then having to set up everything from scratch

We live an easy life!

If this is the wrong place to ask could someone point me in the right direction.

Anyone a bit of a WhatsApp guru ? I back up daily but when I got my XS and restored from iCloud backup it took a few days to notice but all pictures I’ve sent or received in WhatsApp are now white with a ? In videos are fine. Any idea ?

The battery on this Xr is insane. I’ve never had a plus model or anything.

6 hours screen on time and I’m on 65%. Usually I have to charge it around 6-7pm.

Greetings all!

We have both a baby boy and a red iPhone XR!

Contractions began on Wednesday morning and finally ended on Friday night due to complications, resulting in an emergency C-section. Mother and son are doing well, though recovery for my wife will be quite a few weeks taking each day at a time. Prior to Wednesday, my wife continually dropped hints that she'd like 2x kids. I asked her the same question post-endurance event and she vehemently said, "No"! LOL

We've had a play with the iPhone XR whilst he sleeps and we're rather impressed. The screen definitely isn't as good as an X or XS, though I suspect many of the regular public wouldn't even notice if you never mentioned the lower resolution.

It feels like a great upgrade for many coming from older iPhones, which I'm sure is exactly Apple's intentions to jumpstart all the people still hanging on to old kit. Anybody in the market for a new iPhone should definitely start with the XR and then try and justify what you're getting extra with the XS and XS Max, rather than starting at the high-end and identifying what you're losing.

Congratulations on your son! I’m sure you’ve been putting the camera to good use already taking pics of the baby.

Your wife might change her mind!

I said never again after I’d just delivered my first and then we had another. My second labour was much quicker than the first. Only was in hospital for 5 hours before I gave birth and was out within a few hours. I had a long labour with my first like your wife with lots of complications. I think the first labour is always hard and drawn out. It does get better though!

I hope you’re looking after your wife and making sure she gets lots of rest so don’t play with the phone too much !

That’s eye watering. I don’t pay that for my phone bill. Internet bill and tv bill combined. Virgin mobile. Who use EE offer 100gb for £20 a month.

Maybe because I’m so used to sim only as I always buy my phones outright. But it would honestly pain me to spend that much on my phone a month.

lol, so funny. add the cost of the sim free device, and your contract and divide it over the same term as IUP or iPhone Payments and it's probably the same cost, or you are probably paying more overall.

Yep. Everybody's said how tricky the first labour can be, though I still think she's scarred for life - both literally and metaphorically!

Don't worry - she's being treated like a queen and son is being treated like a prince.

First photo with the XR and a wee bit of Google Snapseed...

Looking to pick up the XS this week from Covent Garden.

Is everyone happy with the screens in terms of uniformity and no weird yellow tint? I know you can always return within the 14 day period, but I don't want to go through the hassle of all that.

No problems with the XS screen here, it’s slightly warm with True Tone active, and pure white, almost cool with True Tone off, as I would expect.

Nowhere near. £750 for the 64gb Xr outright. And £5 a month for my sim (managed to haggle it down again today). So £5x24 = £120. Plus the £750 = £870. £870 divided by 24 = £35.25.
