lol, so funny. add the cost of the sim free device, and your contract and divide it over the same term as IUP or iPhone Payments and it's probably the same cost, or you are probably paying more overall.

£870 device cost of iPhone XR 64 gig and SIM contract for 2 years. My way is always to pay cash up front and go SIM only.

The screen definitely isn't as good as an X or XS, though I suspect many of the regular public wouldn't even notice if you never mentioned the lower resolution.

I genuinely genuinely do get this argument at all. I have had exactly the same websites running on the XR XS and my own S7 AMOLED display and I just don't see the difference in resolution at all. I can see a difference in colour temperature between the OLED and the LCD but that is it.

Maybe it's my peepers, who knows. However, the wife can read the inscriptions on the inside of rings etc. and she too couldn't see any graininess at all.

I think that some people are told there will be a difference so that's what they see.

Greetings all!

We have both a baby boy and a red iPhone XR!

Contractions began on Wednesday morning and finally ended on Friday night due to complications, resulting in an emergency C-section. Mother and son are doing well, though recovery for my wife will be quite a few weeks taking each day at a time. Prior to Wednesday, my wife continually dropped hints that she'd like 2x kids. I asked her the same question post-endurance event and she vehemently said, "No"! LOL

We've had a play with the iPhone XR whilst he sleeps and we're rather impressed. The screen definitely isn't as good as an X or XS, though I suspect many of the regular public wouldn't even notice if you never mentioned the lower resolution.

It feels like a great upgrade for many coming from older iPhones, which I'm sure is exactly Apple's intentions to jumpstart all the people still hanging on to old kit. Anybody in the market for a new iPhone should definitely start with the XR and then try and justify what you're getting extra with the XS and XS Max, rather than starting at the high-end and identifying what you're losing.
Your iPhone XR was delivered by C-section? Mine came by UK mail! :p

Congratulations. Hope all is well. Enjoy this special time.

I can tell the difference between my 7 Plus and my XS Max.

Dont think i can go back to LCD now
There's a video or review somewhere that had a number of people checking out the OLED and LCD and not one person guessed right. I myself can only tell the difference by colour temperature.

The XR is definitely better value for money.

I could tell a difference between my old 6S plus and the S7 edge. The S7 edge display was sharper, had better colours and was more vibrant.

I guess you are one of the same ones who said they couldn’t see a difference between SD and HD.

Not for me. It’s cheaper but doesn’t have all the features I want so it’s not better value.

We still watch most programmes in SD as the medium is very distance dependant. We have a large lounge and sit to far away from the TV to derive any benefit from a HD broadcast.

So, what features are you getting that make the more expensive Xs better value for 'you'?

As for resolution it's been scientifically proven that anything much over 326 PPI on a phone is not visible to the naked eye. I'm sure you would be happy with the screen on the iPad Pro so why not on the iPhone XR?

Note that I didn't say the XR display was bad, I actually said it "isn't as good" as the XS or XS Max displays. Perfectly adequate for many.

It's not graininess that you're looking out for, it's individual pixels. I'm looking at my wife's XR right now and certain letters and shapes make it immediately apparent that it's a lower resolution and pixel density.

My eyes are 20-20 and I actually wish Apple would provide one or two font sizes smaller than the minimum on iOS.

There's nothing wrong with liking the XR display, especially if it saves you some cash. For me, I simply cannot unsee what I have seen.

The iPad Pro is viewed at further distances than a phone would be. My iPad is typicall viewed on at a table or on my lap. The phone is held up within my line of vision.

Note there is a difference between ppi and resolution. They are not the same thing.

Why did I get the Xs max:

Because it has a better screen: OLED, higher resolution

The screen is bigger than the Xr. It’s the biggest iPhone available.

Dual lens camera: optical zoom, portrait mode via lenses and not software, can do portrait mode on animals and objects.

3D Touch

More ram

I also prefer the smaller bezels.

I have a 50 inch led Tv which I view from about 10 ft away. I can immediately tell if I walk into the room and my husband is watching something in SD.

Looks like you might be a scientific marvel. Read this from a science magazine.

There is a limit to Pixel Density which a human eye can recognise. Typically, a human eye can distinguish about 296 to 300 dots/inch... so, if a screen exists with more than 300 pixels per inch, a human eye cannot distinguish individual pixels.

And it looks like you blindly (pun intended) believe everything you read in your "science magazine".

So are you saying you are right and science is wrong. You need to back that up with non-anecdotal evidence of your own.
[doublepost=1540907252][/doublepost]As much as I like the XR plus many other smartphones there's this.

Camera, Keep Notes, Gmail, Contacts, Calendar, Weather app, SMS, Phone calls, Chrome, On-demand TV apps, Google Photos, Google Maps, Youtube, Chromecast, Netflix, Amazon, Play Music, Sonos plus a couple of banking apps and Android/Apple Pay. That is almost the sum total of all the apps I ever use on a smartphone, whether that is my iPhone or my Android phone.

I don’t really care about integration with my PC, Mac or anything else. When I look at the above I can’t help but wonder does it matter if I have iOS or Android. In fact for what I have listed above I suspect a phone costing £150 could easily do all this and do it quite well.

I'm due an upgrade tomorrow with EE.

I have been with them for two 24 month contracts so far: iphone 6 and iphone 7 and now hopefully iphone XR 256gb.

What kind of loyalty discount can I suqeeze out of them?

Is it worth asking for a PAC code and pretend leave in the hope of them offering a better deal?

might consider the upgrade anytime deal incase i get bored of the XR limitations (i dont expect too)

Also surprised i can get around £220 for a used 128GB iphone on ebay!

I have been trying to sell my iPhone XS Max for a week now since getting my XR.
Three eBay auctions later which have all ended and all been won by time wasters who have bid at the very last minute and then not wanted it.

I'm beginning to lose my patience.
It is on Gumtree too but all I am getting on there is people offering me £800 (it's the 256GB and is virtually brand new outside of being used for 3-4 weeks but had case and screen protector on the whole time) - or offering me a swap for another phone which I don't want.

Does anyone know of anywhere I can sell this? It's proving to be an impossible task.
Thanks
