I have a XS and even I'm a little jealous of all these gorgeous colours! Enjoy your new phones everyone! :)
I would love a coral XS max!

Some more pics coz I just think it's so photogenic haha.

In the clear case I ordered:

I'm so impressed with it.

For those (like me) who worried about having no 3d touch to move the cursor by pressing the keybaord - it is still there. You just have to press the space bar not the keyboard.

Also, the haptic substitute feels literally the same. Apple have done a fantastic job with these devices. I'm really pleased with it.
It looks great against the black and white rug.

Bit of a dilemma here, called up EE to return my XR due to the bezels, they offered me £10 discount a month to keep it, thats on top of my 10% multi line, it reduces my talk plan to £52 a month and I can upgrade anytime.

I can't even accept the offer then sell the XR as the only site accepting XR (Music magpie) is offering £200 only

£52 a month is outrageous. I’m crap at maths but if that’s with 10% and £10 discount it’s eye watering.

Sell the phone privately if you want to sell it. But at that price I’d be returning it and saving myself money and hassle.

Edit - Sorry just noticed that you said multi line!

Yeah, its £68 a month, 100gb, unlimited everything else, plus I can upgrade in 15 days if I want (obviously have to return the handset).

EE prices are high mate, but thats what I good network can charge (I get 180mbps speeds), free BT Sport, 6 months Apple music

Edit: if I return it, I go onto my old talk plan which was 1p cheaper with only 15gb data

Hope all you people picking up the XR today are enjoying it! I have to say, even though I have an XS Max I’m pretty jealous. Those colours are gorgeous and honestly, the LCD screen looks much better than the OLED to my eyes.

I’d love to go and get an XR myself however I’ve missed the return window for this phone and now have to keep it for another year haha. Definitely made a bad decision getting the Max. :)

That’s eye watering. I don’t pay that for my phone bill. Internet bill and tv bill combined. Virgin mobile. Who use EE offer 100gb for £20 a month.

Maybe because I’m so used to sim only as I always buy my phones outright. But it would honestly pain me to spend that much on my phone a month.

Just had time after work to check my Red XR properly and there's a chip on the frame.:( The screen had a small area in the bottom left which is dimmer but it's a tiny area that I could have lived with. Looks like I'm going back to the store to return tomorrow. Hopefully they have stock so I can get a new one same day.

You could probably sell the max and get the Xr and not be out of pocket.

How does the iPhone upgrade system work in the UK? I have to do it in person but if they don’t have stock for pickup what then? Can I go to a store and get an order/timing for stock? Surely you don’t have to check randomly to find stock available for pickup?

Yeah you’d have to do it in store as long as they have stock. Usually from tomorrow morning the apple store app will show stock availability in store and if you find one, you can reserve and collect.

the Wife got her Xr Red today, doesn't like it, returning it tomorrow and replacing it with Max Gold for her, I personally liked it.

Virgin mobile. Who use EE offer 100gb for £20 a month.

Except on Virgin you get no WiFi calling, no VoLTE, no Band 20 access, no visual voicemail, no calls on other devices and are capped to a maximum of 70Mbps.

You’re also comparing your sim only plan to their handset included plan.

PS

I pay £12 a month for unlimited data to Three (including unlimited tethering and WiFi calling/VoLTE/band 20 access) so your Virgin plan isn’t that cheap when compared to other sim only plans ;)

What do you think of the iPhone Upgrade Programme offering 0% interest finance?

iPhone XS, 64GB @ £57 for 20 months. Will sell iPhone 7 that I currently have to offset some of the cost.

It’s 0% so it isn’t costing you anything, I used a 0% offer on my Barclaycard to buy my XS as I felt it offered more flexibility (I can pay it off quicker if I want to), if I hadn’t had the offer I probably would have used the Apple programme.

Yeah, it’s almost too good to pass up. The only thing stopping me is potentially getting a XS with a rubbish screen (see the yellow tint threads).

Sorry I didn’t mean to seem like I was having a go. Just honestly found it eye watering. I’m not with virgin. I’m with Plusnet. I pay £6 a month for unlimited mins and 4gb. Does me fine.

Long as you’re happy that’s all that matters.

Just to warn you EE pay monthly customers have to legally keep their phones for a minimum of six months before selling them. It’s in the contract.

If you would otherwise take AppleCare+ anyway, then it seems a very attractive option. I avoid debt of any kind, but did get my XS Max on the IUP. I would have taken out AC+ anyway if I bought it outright, and I felt the IUP gives me options come upgrade time and without incurring any interest/loan costs. This is the first time I used the IUP, and I anticipate I will end up paying it out and handing the phone down to another family member when I next upgrade. But I felt it was worth trying and having the extra option to hand the phone back next year and start again.

Can anyone help here? My iPhone XS Max keeps saying "this iPhone hasn't been backed up in 5 weeks" but when I go to back up it then says "The last backup could not be completed because iCloud contains a backup from a newer iOS version". I used to be on beta so think its something to do with that. Anyone know how I create a new backup?

Can you do an iCloud backup when charging wirelessly? I thought it had to be wired charging but when I look at the back up times in iCloud it’s usually overnight when I’m wirelessly charging my phone.
