There’s one issue that might make me upgrade and that was my shortsighted decision to get only a 64GB model.

I'm on an EE 20GB Max Sim Only plan, but I need more data. EE no longer sell Max plans on sim only, so I might just get the XS on contract with them and sell my X.

I wonder if EE will allow student discount on the XS? I remember it couldn't be used on the X last year, as they bundled some headphones or something which voided student discount.

What does “Max” mean in the context of EE contracts?

Pretty decent show from Apple, something seemed a bit understated though this year. Maybe it’s just an ‘S’ year though.

I’ll definitely be getting a 64gb Space Grey XS, I would be tempted with the gold if it was darker!

Looks like i'll be keeping my 8 plus. Prices are just crazy, Looking at £450 give or take for 8 plus and £1099 for xs max. Dread to think what prices could be like in a few years with the rate its going up at.

£68.95 PM on iUP??
So thats a big increase for those on the upgrade plan who still owe several months on their current iPhone x's
Glad i bought outright. Apple are offering £550 for 256gb iPhone X. I will go for that and add another £700 for the iPhone Xs Max 256gb

What does “Max” mean in the context of EE contracts?

Free BT Sport for life of the contract, free overseas roaming in some popular non EU countries like USA and Australia and full speed downloads (otherwise limited to 60 Mbps)

So £1200+ for my desired phone (XS Max 265GB), I knew it was going to be expensive but damn that’s a lot more than even the 256GB 8+ I got just a year ago and if I keep the same data plan it will be like £80/month. Just crazy money.

Really really hard to justify that to myself and I was so hyped to get this phone. :(

I was looking at the XS Max 265GB also (upgrading from a X). However besides a bokeh software enhancement there wasn't anything I could use that had me excited to upgrade (if they implemented dual sim here like they are in China... alas they are not). One of the benefits of the bigger size in the past was the dual camera now all there is, is the software enhancement given to apps such as mail (which I miss).

I will be upgrading my watch next week. Will be interesting to know if there are any differences between cellular and non-cellular materials this time around as cellular is useless to me as a long time Three customer.

Here's hoping the start of the event was a hint at AirPods 2 'Hey Siri' support at a future event (possibly next month?). It's ok though, I don't have to give Apple all my money, every year.

Wonder how soon UK networks start implementing esim support.

Will wait for more news from UK providers before taking the jump to the XS Max 512GB.

Materials look to be the same according to specs. Whereas series 3 saw ceramic back and an extra 8GB of storage on cellular, series 4 has ceramic/sapphire back on both GPS only and cellular models along with the same 16GB storage. Partly explains the price bump on the non GPS only models

I am still confused about new IUP logistics. When I look at the app says I can go in store at 8.01 on 14th to join the IUP. Does that mean I can sign up and they send the iPhone on the 21st or I have to collect it again? Does the store need to have stock? When does your contract start?

Anyone know how Apple can justify using US prices in the UK without adjusting for exchange rate? $1249 is like £919 but we have to pay a £300 premium ( $1500 USD ) for an identical phone?
don't forget US sales tax so you compare apples with apples with our VAT. Still cheaper in US.

Just out of interest, and it may seem obvious, but they say it ships 21st September in the UK. If you're lucky enough to get through and pre-order immediately, would that mean it would be home delivery for the 22nd? Or store delivery potentially on the 21st?

I've never pre-ordered at launch before so would be interested to know previous lead times.

With all relevant taxes applied we are paying a £300/$400 premium on every identical phone. That is pure profit for Apple.

Would be cheaper (just about) to fly out to US buy an iphone and fly back

Behind you!
Does anyone know what the in-store reservation link is this year? Don't see it on the page but I'm sure there was a way to get to it early last year in preparation for Friday. Thanks!
