Anyone know how Apple can justify using US prices in the UK without adjusting for exchange rate? $1249 is like £919 but we have to pay a £300 premium ( $1500 USD ) for an identical phone?
Part of the explanation is 20% VAT I think. US prices don’t include sales tax.

Nevertheless, Apple is an extremely greedy corporation. It’s our fault really for paying what they demand.

I’ve checked that. With all taxes applied we are still getting ripped off massively.

And yeah, of course we are chumps for paying what they charge but we are powerless to stop ourselves in most cases it seems

Just get the 64gb and then a monthly iCloud storage plan...that’s where all my photos are stored.

....so how much will the 64Gb iPhone XS be a month on the IUP?

Also, regarding the Apple Watch - I don’t understand how all our current 42mm straps are supposed to fit the new 44mm Series 4 Watch?

I'm considering the 64gb option for the xs max but while i'm only at 40gb now i always think i'm going to use more than i do but 64gb could work for me.

I'm also going to be getting the google pixel xl 3 when it launches so perhaps a cut in storage will help with that. Have a few things to consider before i order the new iphone.

Anyone else on the upgrade programme?

In two minds here. I’ve never used AppleCare. I want the max and it is only £5 a month more for the equivalent 64gb version, making it £61.45 (gulp). However it’s £51.45 with the iPhone payments option (without AppleCare). Really not sure what to do!!

If you join the IUP then taking out AppleCare is mandatory you can’t join the program without it.

I am still confused about new IUP logistics. When I look at the app says I can go in store at 8.01 on 14th to join the IUP. Does that mean I can sign up and they send the iPhone on the 21st or I have to collect it again? Does the store need to have stock? When does your contract start?

don't forget US sales tax so you compare apples with apples with our VAT. Still cheaper in US.

....you can pre-order the phone via the Apple Store Up which will then reserve you a 1 hour time slot in which to go and collect it on the 21st. When you are in store, you then opt for the IUP in order to finance the purchase.

I know the Apple Store App says ‘Join the IUP’ but you won’t actually be able to do this until you get to the store on the 21st.

£895 for 64GB Max if you buy it from the US including Illinois sales tax (since different states have different taxes).

It’s always has been cheaper to get Apple products in the US.

Alright lads here's the plan

XS Max 64GB. Try for iUP, otherwise buy outright.

Will see if it's too big... I have had a 7 Plus for a year so should be okay...

Also definitely getting on the Watch hype, but not cellular. I still feel naked without my phone, wouldn't benefit from paying 100 quid extra.

Expected but disappointed that I have to wait a month for my upgrade.

Thinking of going with the Max this time. Looks very nice.

What a night! Everything looks prettty but giving it all a miss! Apple Watch is 750 for the one I want which is way too much then I want to part with and the Xs price wasn’t lowered so I’m keeping to my word and I’m not swapping :D

What do they reject on the upgrade program? Is it pretty strict or are you likely to be accepted if you have a good history with paying things up?

Will be going for the XS in silver, 256GB. Very, very disappointed to see there wasn't a 128GB entry level option or at least a price drop.

Wife has decided to go for the XR and I'm actually a little jealous of her position. She cares not for the cameras or the OLED display etc and the 128GB XR at £799 looks like a positive bargain by comparison!

Unless it's a mistake and Apple has mixed up the pricing for the XS and XS Max, Apple has hiked up the price of the silicone and leather cases. The XS silicone cases are now £45 from £39 and the leather cases are now £55 from £49. The leather folio, strangely, remains the same for XS as it did for the X, whereas the XS Max version is £129.
