No because you stated how many iPhone X they have sold, you’ve now changed the discussion to finances. But not discussing it further now as it’ll take this thread of topic and get posts deleted..

ON TOPIC..

Well I can get 3.5% off at John Lewis, better then nothing I guess. Need to see this XS Max.

I think I’m split between:
iPhone X 64GB in silver on sale
iPhone 8 Plus 64GB in silver at the new cheap price
iPhone 7 Plus 128GB in matte black
iPhone XS Max 64GB silver

Need to see how much better Face ID really is.
I used the X specifically to highlight that they’re having no trouble shifting expensive devices, and therefore their financials are doing just fine - apologies if I lost you on that one. Agree that this is off-topic.

I’d also like to see the Max before buying, but having had an 8 Plus for a year, I think I’m ready to go back to smaller sized Xs now!

The o
IUP includes AppleCare+ and splits the cost over 20 months. You’re then allowed to upgrade after 11 payments

iPhone payments just splits the cost of the phone over 20 months. No option to upgrade or hand back ( but you could easily sell your phone, pay off the loan and do it all again)

The only issue I see with iPhone Payments is if you decide to sell the phone on month 11 or recycle using one of the many sites is that it may not fetch more than the balance outstanding on your loan. In which case you would need to bridge the gap. The balance outstanding can easily be worked out though:

64gb iPhone Xs Max on iPhone Payments on month 11 E.g September 2019 (assuming your payments started being taken October 2018) would be £463.50 (£51.50 x 9 months I.e month 12-20). You would most likely get that price but it’s risk vs reward.

I personally prefer to hand back using the iPhone Upgrade Program on month 11, have apple clear the balance, close the loan and start again.

Each to their own though

Ah I didn’t get that no. I’ve never had a Plus model, but it’s interesting and a little worrying how people like yourself get one but then after a year or two decide to go back to a smaller device...

...am I right in saying that the only difference between the IUP and IP is Applecare

....but the actual screen size of the X is indeed larger than the 7 Plus and 8 Plus so not sure what you are meaning...?!

The X is taller but not as wide as the plus screens. The aspect ratio is different. I preferred the plus aspect ratio and that’s why I went with the 8 plus last year, and the Max this year.

I’m glad that there’s time after the event before pre order. I’ve come to the realisation that the price of the iPhones this year is just too high. Just because I can afford them doesn’t mean I should pay out so much money for them. They will be more than I paid for my first car!

I have an iPhone 7 I’m looking to upgrade and unless I can get the 64gb Xs for the same price I can currently get the 64gb X for (79.00 up front and £61.00/month) I’ll be getting the X. I just don’t see a reason to pay even more for a phone that is only marginally better/different.

Either way, I’ll be happy with my new phone whichever I decide tomorrow.

Honesty, I got used to the Plus size pretty quickly. It just takes some adjusting how you use the phone. However, reaching the whole screen when you don’t have the other hand free is really quick tricky (for my fairly small hands!) and I’m just concerned this will be even more difficult with the Max given the bigger screen.

I was fully prepared to buy the XS Max before I saw the keynote but now I love the Xr.

I like the look of the Xr and probably would have gone with that if I hadn’t already agreed to sell my iPhone 7. Looks like apples tactic of a delayed launch has at least worked on me.

Thought I’d post a quick question!!!!

I’m wondering what is, using the Apple Store App, the best thing to do come 08:01 tomorrow morning...?

....go to my favourite devices (I’ve already added the 64Gb iPhone XS), add to bag (which is currently greyed out) and then see if it gives me a reservation option, OR, select the iPhone Upgrade Program option and follow the process from there?! o_O

Not if the website crashes and I am quoted November/December but I am trying to remain calm and positive. From experience of previous years people seemed to have more luck with the apple store app than the website.
Maybe its just me, but I don't feel like the delays and issues of last years X release wi materialise again this time around. I'm thinking its going to be a pretty smooth pre order tomorrow.

now if only I can decide on what I want :D

Sky Mobile prices

Sky have confirmed that they will also be stocking the iPhone Xs, iPhone Xs Max and iPhone XR in the UK, on the Swap12 and Swap24 plans. They've even released their pricing:

iPhone XS 64GB

  • £43 per month for 1GB data, plus unlimited mins and texts with no upfront cost on their Swap24 plan.
  • £49 per month for 4GB data, plus unlimited mins and texts with no upfront cost on their Swap24 plan.
  • £65 per month for 4GB data, plus unlimited mins and texts with no upfront cost on their Swap12 plan.

iPhone XS Max 64GB

  • £47 per month for 1GB data, plus unlimited mins and texts with no upfront cost on their Swap24 plan.
  • £53 per month for 4GB data, plus unlimited mins and texts with no upfront cost on their Swap24 plan.
  • £71 per month for 4GB data, plus unlimited mins and texts with no upfront cost on their Swap12 plan.
The pricier costs in the Sky 12 plan are due to the fact you can change handsets after 12 months, so you're essentially repaying the cost of the handset quicker. Sky also lets you roll over any unused data each month, and lets you change your data allowance each month.

Here's hoping! I was one of the lucky ones to snag an X for launch day pickup last year, here's hoping for the same again! I'm thinking I might try and multitask now, go for the iPhone on the app on my iPhone/iPad and the Watch on the laptop simultaneously.

yup, many did last year. IIRC reserve as IUP and when you go to collect at your time slot, tell them to make it IP.

So when the launch page goes live, are we expecting two options - one for store pickup at set times and one for delivery?

Would it be possible do you think to order for delivery (as I won't be around on launch day / any week day for any reservations) and then go in and do the refund/reserve/iUP trick to try and get on iUP?

thats what I did last year. my X was due 1-2 weeks by the time I got onto the site 8.08!. arrived inside a week, I took it straight into my local store and 'refunded' it and bought it straight back in IUP.

the lady who did it was really good, basically refunded the online order and soon as she finished the refund, she quickly scanned it again (so no on else could see it available in store) and put it all through on IUP.. 15 mins and done
