surely if they do things like preapproval online they could just get us to do the barclays side and transaction online. if its a fuss i may just buy the phone outright though, not worth the stress :D

Just checked the store app and there’s no option to book an upgrade now, even for a 12 or pro. You can still check your eligibility, but can’t go any further. Hopefully something is in the works for doing it online. 🤞

I just wrote that on another thread, but on the UK webpage for IUP you can select the phone and store. Guess they are doing some backend stuff ?

Sorry. The Max was listed but doesn’t let you go through doing it. Weird
Yeah the Max is on the Apple Store app.
Just read the t&c’s of iUP on the website, they seem to have made it generic. Doesn’t mention “apple store” no more..? Might have never been there but it’s a good sign?

Fingers crossed, somethings in the works.

I checked today, If iUP isn’t going to be a thing for another motnh, my phones worth £580 on a trade in. Probably will trade it in, buy it outright, and then refund and move to IUP when stores are open

The big thing with the IUP is the 5 minute Barclays sign up using the Apple handsets.

Apart from that, they could insist the phones we hand are already wiped and sim removed (to save some time). But it's the Barclays bit that takes the time.
None of that is ‘click and collect’

That's assuming the lockdown doesn't get exten
With respect why would they delay the launch ?

I never said they would delay it.

What's crazy is that the Barclays thing could EASILY be done online. They do the 24 month interest free agreements online. What's the difference?

Would be great for the IUP to work remotely ........ but my guess is there are many components to consider not only the agreement part. The logistics of returning, checking the returns etc, although not dissimilar to normal returns its still a different process that needs to be put in place for hundreds or thousands of returned devices. Will be interesting to see what Apple do.

It's probably more than we think - certainly a lot of the hardcore Apple fans will use it...
I’ve never met a hardcore Apple fan in person but pretty much everybody I know uses Apple products. The only Apple fans I come across seem to be on Mac Rumours. I do t think the iUP is as widely popular as some here would think. It’s expensive and carrier deals are still king when it comes to upgrading I think. You can get your new phone through the post too which is a bonus in current conditions.

If anyone got some new info please let us know.
I was waiting for 12 Mini to be ready and now this Lockdown means I either take 12 pro or wait a month🤦🏻‍♂️
Just been in touch with apple support chat but they had no clue and said I can do it online where we know it's not possible in UK, so pretty much waste of time chatting to them 🤦🏻‍♂️

don’t forget £80+ refund on unused applecare.

Its strange though. I paid my iup off because I wanted delivery of my 12 so switched to the payments.
- I still did a credit check but they did it online
- its still financed through barclays
- in my case I traded in my phone which is pretty similar to handing back a phone for iup
- they put T&Cs that if the phone is lower quality than stated they’d take the difference from my payment card - could do the same for iup

both schemes are incredibly similar, but payments is available totally online, and iup isn’t. Only difference I can see is that Apple take your phone with iup, and with trade-in it goes to a third party (but is handled through Apple anyway)

Got an email from apple this morning. You can now get pre approved for iPhone payments in the apple store app for Fridays phones but no mention of the upgrade programme. Hopefully they don’t just completely ignore everyone who is on the scheme and wants to upgrade

Don't forget if you're trading your phone in with a 3rd party recycler.... Are they even going to be open/working/trading?

What's weird is that if you do the iUP now, and select the current 12's that are for sale, and click through as if you're going to buy it, every store is shown as being open from Thursday onwards and into next week on the list. Maybe an error on Apple's part ?

But if you click on the stores in wales they show as closed ?
