Think mine needs replacing 🙈
just picked it up, fair enough left it on charge overnight but on opening it first I get is another temperature warning.

Spoke to Apple last night who ran a diagnostic on it.

They said give it a day or 2 to see if it’s still doing it and it have to be replaced

anyone tried the HDR videos in YouTube, Jesus they pop. the only thing i think apple made a mistake is the camera for face id as it should be in the landscape location as the face id is always telling me to move my hand. just don't understand why apple did not place it on the longest side edge as i tried it in different orientation and it would make sense to place it there.

anyhoo upgraded form a 9 year old ipad air the original first version toa 12.9 pro XDR

The camera location is ridiculous, and I think Apple are being stubborn to the point of affecting usability. I’ve come from Touch ID, so am getting a lot of “hands over the camera” messages on unlocking.

I use my iPads in portrait aspect a lot of the time, but even so, it’s far more practical to have the camera in the right position for FaceTime etc. (Particularly as most stands/cases only let you prop up the iPad in landscape!).

I agree the camera location is slightly ridiculous, but I think it might be more to do with the location of the magnets / charging mechanism for the apple pencil. I’m sure they’ll work it out for future generations.

Arrived promptly within time slot thank you John Lewis. What a change from the Gen1 IPP. Just setting up now in between working. Went for a data transfer and clean app install.

Seriously lighter than my Gen1, beautiful scrolling and enjoying the quickness of it. My Gen1 is going to enjoy a lovely retirement as an emergency backup.

Q: How is everyone getting on with their 12.9 battery? Anyone think it’s draining quicker? ? maybe because I was on FaceTime and playing with it this morning lol Charged it to 100% and it’s already 54 ?

Probably because you won’t leave it alone!

it may still be doing stuff from first setup and calibrating. If worried, let it drain completely and recharge fully a few times. Worked for me before.

Battery life isn’t much different to my 2020 12.9 pro. battery life certainly isn’t great…I dunno if it’s to do with being connected to MK or not.

Coming from a 6 years old iPad Air 2, these Pros are a joy to use and a massive upgrade. The Air 2 is definitely starting to show its age, lots of random stuttering and slowness to respond…
Got both the 11 and 12.9 to make a more informed decision and return one of them, and for the time being not sure which one to keep.
Personally, the 11 is the perfect size. As soon as I pick the 12.9 up, the difference is noticeable, specially weight wise. Whether the benefits of the gorgeous 12.9 screen are worth it or not, I hope to find out during the next week and a half…

I don’t think this version is rated any better battery wise, so I wouldn’t expect much change.

so been using my iPad (11") since last night. i'm in love ? last time i bought an iPad was when the original launched in 2010 lol.

out the box it was at 82% battery and it's currently at 24% with 6 hours 24 minutes usage. so had i fully charged it to 100% that'd mean i'd have 42% charge left by now.
