That doesn’t sound great. Hopefully though it’s just a glitch and you’ll get it in the original time frame that they promised.
Thats normal for O2. Their systems are pre-historic.
They send emails like that because their system shows its not available to ship at the moment you placed your order. It doesnt understand the concept of a pre-order.
It not unusual to be unable to find any trace of your order on your online account with them until its shipped either.
They can also be really, really late sending out shipping confirmations. I've gone to bed in the past not expecting my device to arrive on launch day, and the shipping email has arrived in the middle of the night for delivery that morning.
Its rubbish, but not a cause for concern.

Yea, when I ordered, it said 3 weeks.

My issue is that I fly out on the 21st, for a week, so it’s likely to arrive whilst I’m away, which is a pain!

Haha! I’ll raise you one. Earlier this week I received 12 bottles of wine that I ordered from Aldi a few days earlier. The shipping confirmation email came the following day! ?

And they (O2) still have the nerve to increase their prices by inflation + 3.9% every year. Gotta get the bubbly for the shareholders after all.

Have just been in the Apple Aberdeen store and asked if they had the new iPads on show yet, as the iPads had the new 2021 screensavers….

The Apple rep I was buying from said they have been advised delivery between 17-24th May

Take from that what you may…

Mmm… I’d love that to be true but I’d be surprised if it is.

I‘m hoping for 21st (still says 21-28th), and I guess we’ll see order status change to “preparing to ship” when things start to move. Can’t quite recall how it normally works, but I seem to remember the preparing and shipping stages only taking a few days.

Depends where they are coming from. If they are being shipped directly from China then status starts to change about a week before delivery. Processing > Preparing for Shipment > Dispatched.

If they are bulk shipped to Hinckley for onward distribution, they change status in a shorter timeframe and are only despatched the day before delivery.

I got order confirmation email and the phone number for the iPad immediately and I can track it in my account where it clearly shows as pre-order which of course is not in stock right now so...?

Yes, without knowing how many IPPs have already been manufactured and stockpiled, and their location, it’s a bit of a guess. It’s actually fascinating to consider the logistics of a product launch which involves thousands (hundreds of thousands?) of units being sent all around the world. Obviously the delivery dates for new orders show that there‘s a strong initial demand, but once that’s fulfilled, you wonder how many 12.9s they then shift.

Wonder how you can see that, mines only showing under ‘recent orders’.

Mine now says 27th delivery ? rather than 21st - 27th
That’s interesting. Mine’s still saying 21-27, but I did get my order in within about 10 mins of being avaliable.

It’ll be interesting to see how slippage will spread. It’s probably fair to say they’re not going to deliver much before 21/5 though.

I also ordered in the first 5 - 10 mins after the basket kept going empty took about 5 tries. Originally the email plus the app said 21 - 27. now it’s stated 27th

I have 2 ordered the 1TB and a 256GB which is my Son’s both say 27th

I guess it’s a lottery. Without knowing Apple’s procedures, it could be some models are more in demand than others. I’ve ordered 512 Wi-Fi, with a smart folio (which I got last week).

I suspect mine will turn to a date quite soon, presumably by the beginning of next week. Until then, it’s in the hands of the tech gods.

Has anyone’s credit / bank card actually been charged? I’m currently looking at the 21st May - 27th May window and would have expected my card to have been charged. Nothing

They charge at dispatch. Most likely going to notice payments taken on the 19th
