Well EE have managed to confuse me. Was all set to order blue (or maybe red) aluminium model and just seen they are offering the Stainless Steel Graphite for about an extra £5 a month.
Now I’m completely torn. My first couple of watches were the stainless ones and they felt premium on my wrist. When Series 4 launched I got an aluminium one and did the same with the 5 but they never felt weighty on my wrist and I was always scared of bashing the screen.
And now I don’t know what to do. Part of me loves the coloured aluminium but the other part of me wants to get the Graphite mainly just for the fact it has DLC and a sapphire screen.
I was stainless steel for the first three watches but switched to aluminium with the four. I liked the weight of the s/steel and the tougher glass, but I didn't like those hairline, tiny scratches the case picked up so wanted to give aluminium a go. Once I got used to the weight difference (which only took a few days), I've just stuck with those ones. I've not noticed any difference in resilience of the glass either and I use my watches all day every day, running up hills, mountain biking etc.
In the end, given I tend to replace the watch every 12-18 months or so, I just couldn't justify the extra for the s/steel and didn't feel like I was missing anything. Just my two cents.
