ok - here is the 4890 score I got

1.png

Bear in mind though this is stock clock @ 850MHz, but when I get my computer back, I am going to clock to 1000MHz. We'll see how it scores then : )

That's still 8x as fast as my current one, I'm sure I can bear with that. :p

On a side note, the 2.1 results are essentially the same, that's kind of weird?

For comparison: 1 Gb Xfx 4870, 2008 MacPro 8 cores

OK suddenly we got alot of benchmarks. so I gathered all here:

Kinda crappy sizing since all I got is paint and all of you guys are using different width and height.

Updated main post with link also.

btw the broken one in the bottom is to be filled in with overclocked 4890

yes that'll be interesting to see. If they are different, you're going to need someone else to get a 1,1 standard, since mine is not stock.

When did you say you're going to get your MP back? Because I need some actual confirmation that 2 x DVI work, because otherwise it's back to flashing a 4870 for me, I can't use a card with only one working.

2009-06-12 Part 661-3919 Board, Logic, Ordered

They first tried the power unit (didnt work) and it took 2 days to get that. And a new logic board probably fixes all issues although it is expensive. So Im thinking by the end of this week.

just out of curiosity, do they know your computer got fried when you incorrectly installed a video card that wasn't supposed to be in the mac pro in the first place? :D

I noticed that, too. Anyone know what's going on? It's a little disconcerting, since shouldn't the most advanced spec be the most important aspect when it comes to getting performance for cutting-edge graphics?

doesnt matter - out of warranty anyway

You need to specify the machine it was run on (Date and proc speed - or - MB Rev. and proc speed) for these to be meaningful at all... don't you?

According to netkas, the only bottleneck in this test is the GPU. Im not sure, but once Bozz with his 2.8GHz mac gets his bench up we can compare to the 4870 on my page which was done on a 3.0GHz.

He knows.. So I'd listen. I was not sure what exactly was being tested nor how. If that bench is all in the card and doesn't need CPU or system memory much then for sure. I guessed that since my lowly 7300GT was getting roughly the same scores as the Quadro, that it must be VERY dependent on systems outside the card's own environment.

Just for clarity's sake; my machine is an 8 core 2.66 ghz.

Fedex guy should be delivering it sometime today. Don't know when. I think I'm quite near the end of his route. Sometimes he stops here last then heads back in, sometimes he stops here first then makes his way back. tough to say.
