Ok people, everything that you might need for 4890 Sapphire New Edition is here!

https://forums.macrumors.com/posts/8734335/

Yeap good work mfka.

According to Drexus experience we can assume now that there isn't any risk to flash Hynix card with E115QA1G.S02 rom, there should be may be some small problems with screen refresh or mouse but only utilisation could give us more indications.(Drexus doesn't give any more feedback...)

So within the tutorial you could indicate that Hynix owners could test it if they are willing to, and report.

"sorry we can't help you" should be changed now.

Peloche,

So since there's no way it seems to fix my screen tearing issue, would this alternative work:

What if I buy a Nvidia 7300, or another GPU that doesn't require a power source, and run my monitor off that. Would they be able to working fine together powering my monitors - the 30" on the 4890 and the 20" on the 7300?

Also, do you think when 10.6.2 is released that the updated QE_CI PKG might fix my problem? No one else seems to be experiencing this.

Great job guys.
I woud like to test on hynix cos I have the card , but I need the manufacturer rom first (cos I lost it) .Nobody with hynix card ?

I would do it with big pleasure , but my machine won't boot with the card in it.
Do you have a workaround on that ?

There is no workaround. It's hardcoded in the Mac Pro firmware to not boot if it can not recognize the card. You need a PC.

Just for the fun, :D

Yeap but it was a quiet week-end, you should try again tomorrow because you really need a PC as Cindori told you.

If no one answers, what about visiting local pc store or pc service
and ask them for help/rent pc or something?

10.6.2 is supposedly bringing updated drivers so we'll have to wait and see. If you go the second card route you should be just fine. As I said before, beg Rominator to make you an EFI ROM since he's had the same issue as you with the 30" monitor.

That's a good idea .I'll might considering renting a pc.
I'm still gonna try on some other forums from here.
Thanks for everything guys.

Hi Drexus ,

So ,I understand that you have a hynix card? I don't know if you read all the posts ,but I flashed my hynix card with the wrong rom so it doesn't boot anymore .And , of-course ,I lost the manufacturer rom.
So , would you be so kind and send me the manufacturer rom from your card?
Btw , congrats with your findings and with your testing results.
Thanks.

How can I get this to you? I know I have to backup my ROM, but I guess I skipped "Rom syphon" class.

Peloche,

Is there any tests of information I can offer? If I look at my system profiler it just says "There was an error while gathering PCI card information." If you want me to test the card on a particular game or something, just let me know.

I didn't say that, btw how is your hynix working ? Did you try to flash it ?

I'm only poking at you. All in good fun.

I haven't tried the flash yet. All seem good here. There were a few times where things in Halo got intense - the video paused briefly (<1 second) but continued on. != mean I'm not happy though.
