Actually I can already tell you it will work since the one you made is the exact same as the one Rominator posted here, bit for bit and checksum for checksum. Nevertheless thank you for taking the time to roll the ROM and especially for your guide so people can make custom ROMs for their cards. Hopefully no one else runs into the oddity I did.
Just confirming that a working custom ROM has been made for the HIS H489F1GP 4890 cards.(Hint hint Cindori.)
Hi kronoss,
You just need to have another graphic (x) card installed on your PC and this one, but monitor connected to the other card (x).
Boot with dos:
atiflash -i to know the number given to your GPU, if you've got only one ATI it should be #0,then
atiflash -ai 0
to be sure that 0 is the one you want to flash
then atiflash -p -fs -fp 0 thename of your original rom
Good luck, don't be afraid i've flashed mine may be 150 times, and sometimes with very bad rom, once nor the pc neither mac started, but it still alive and working well.
Thanks Peloche, now that the card is returned to stock, is there a way to still make it work on a MacPro ?
ofc, he just told you that he flashed his card many times with different roms until he finally flashed with correct one and now his card is working in mp under os x.![]()
Yeap kronoss, if you like make your orignal rom available, I'll make it for you.
Thanks Peloche! ,
Attached is the original ROM of this card.
do all of the output connectors (say, two DVI connectors) work after having flashed the card?
You're welcome,

Thanks a lot Peloche!
i will test it when i get home later tonight and reply here if it worked.
any help for this one?
and a little other question: do i need to buy and physically replace the rom in order to flash it or would i overwrite the original one?
many thanks.
I can answer to your "little other question" only, no you don't need to replace physically the rom, only to overwrite but don't forget to back it up before...
Yeap good work mfka.
According to Drexus experience we can assume now that there isn't any risk to flash Hynix card with E115QA1G.S02 rom, there should be may be some small problems with screen refresh or mouse but only utilisation could give us more indications.(Drexus doesn't give any more feedback...)
So within the tutorial you could indicate that Hynix owners could test it if they are willing to, and report.
"sorry we can't help you" should be changed now.
Peloche,
Hi Peloche,
I git hold of a friend's Hynix based Sapphire 4890 New Edition card, and we flashed it with E115QA1G.S02 rom.
Few symptoms:
- On boot.. after the grey screen, as the reFit boot screen loads there is a slight flicker as it loads the reFit screen.. then a flcker again as it goes back to grey screen during boot.
Other than that everything else is working fine in OSX.
Attached is the original rom
Would be great if you could make the rom base don this one & we can try it ( anyone else using a Hynix based card ? )
- Once the OSX desktop is loaded, msg pops up saying that the power cables on video card is not connected properly ( but they are )
Really strange issue we're finding is on the bootcamp side.
With the original rom, apple bluetooth kb & mm pairs & works fine in bootcamp.
But after flashing with E11 rom.. kb & mm no longer pairs and no matter what we did could not get them to pair ( on snow leopard, bootcamp 3.0 ).
Soon as we flash back to the original rom, kb & mm pairs right away on booting into bootcamp and they work fine ( typing on it now ).
Peloche, thanks! it worked !
I am now typing off my mac with my new Powercolor 1GB PPH installed !
