Awesome, thanks for the photos. I've got my 4890 working in Windows now, going to back up the ROM and then reboot into OS X to flash it. Looking forward to being able to finally use it.![]()
Status report? How did everything go?

Sorry, posted about it in one of the other 4890 threads. Flashing it and installing QE/CI was utterly painless. Everything worked without a hitch, and I'm quite enjoying being able to actually play games on my computer again. Compared to my 7300 (or even my 8800) there's simply no contest.
I see the 'roms' evolve day after day .You people are fast!
Unfortunately , I still couldn't find a pc .I tried 3 stores in a city near me with no luck.I think I'm gonna have to build myself one. Any suggestions?I'm just kidding.
Great work Peloche.
Congrats to everyone who succeed to make the 4890 to work on a apple machine.

Semaca,
Can't you make a bootable DOS CD or USB key and put the dos program ATIflash along with the ROM posted above (if you have Sapphire NE with Hynix).
Boot your Mac Pro into DOS, then use ATIflash to backup your original ROM, then flash with the new ROM.
I am just remembering my steps for backup up and posting the ROM for the 8800GT Mac Edition when it first came out. Perhaps the difference is that card was already EFI capable and thus it had no problems booting to a DOS environment.
Also I don't know if this will work with two ATI cards, I don't know if ATIFlash can specifiy which PCI-E port you want to flash etc. so if you have two ATI cards I guess it could be problematic.
BTW, much thanks to Peloche for posting the ROM above. I will test it out when I get home later tonight and report on my findings.

I have this card a few weeks by now.Like everybody else I lost my manufacturer rom and I' ve flash the card with a wrong one.So it doesn't boot anymore with the card in it.Chime ,chime, chime...
I saved the original rom on a FAT partition with CPUZ and (I don't remember the reason!) I erased it ,of-course with the rom on it.
So now I'm trying to find someone with a pc who will let me flash back my card.

Yeap Altimeter88, for atiflash have a look to the link in my signature and look for How to flash under DOS on a PC
Good luck
Yeap i know that it was for semaca but as you were wondering i've answeredPeloche,
This info was more for Semaca because he was saying he needed to find a PC.
Because I can already boot to OSX I was planning on using Cindori's ATI Flashing Tool in OSX to flash with your new Hynix ROM posted above.
Let me know if you think that's a problem.
In the surroundings of Leuven , Belgium.Where 're you living ?
In the surroundings of Leuven , Belgium.
Ouf a bit far, i'm on the north of Paris, but may be somebody from the forum is closer ?
It was working for one people in OS X and also in OS X for Altimeter88 but not in bootcamp.I thought it was established that hynix or qimonda did not matter? that same rom worked?
I just wanted to report success using the above posted ROM for Sapphire Cards (New Edition) with Hynix memory.
Thanks a lot Peloche, everything seems to be working great!
For those interested I flashed the card with ATI Flashing Tool in OSX and tested in bootcamp and OSX and both work fine.
When booting OSX I get the chime and then the apple with NO flicker. In OSX I still get the power cable message sometimes. I am using one molex adapter routed to the CD-ROM bay and one connecter going to the mainboard.
When booting Windows everything looks and runs great.
So again thanks a lot for all the help Peloche in getting that Hynix ROM and getting it working with bootcamp!
OK. 1: Does this work for my card (can't remember what everyone said the version I have is)
2: Dare I try the tool again when it put me out of commission for 2 days?

After doing the update I have an issue with every restart. At startup I am unable to interact with my computer for almost 2 minutes.
Anyone else have this issue?
