To wrap up this thread, it boils down to this. The iPhone is for the teenagers and grandparents, that like Fisher Price type simple to use phones, or want to show off that they have the 'popular cool phone'.

Android is for the adults that are tech nerds, and like modern and futuristic gadgets.
Im not sure if your being serious or not?

Another satisfied Roman-Numeral-10 buyer here.

I'm actually more pleased with it than I thought I would be. (i had bought with the extended return option in mind)

See that is my problem.....I get bored or fed up with one mobile OS and go to the other. Then get bored again or miss a feature only the other phone or OS has. That is why I can't just have one phone. It's a curse.

My thoughts though are we all can get used to the little nuances of any phone or mobile OS. It just depends on the features we want and are we willing to over look other things. It becomes a trade off of sorts.
There are some things my iPhone does better than my Note 8....there are some things my Note 8 does better than my iPhone.....there are some things my Pixel 2 XL does better than both and vice versa.
My brother from another mother! :p

Yeah I like iPhone X, S8+, and when Google gets the QC managed, Pixel 2XL. Drat, but I’ve had a soft space in my heart for HTC ever since my HTC 10 gave me the best call quality I have ever experienced on AT&T.

For me, if it has to be only one, it’s going to be my iPhone X. I love it. But I don’t get the battery life I would like so my 7 Plus still gets plenty of use, too. I will trade the X on for a new model with better battery life. Unless Apple comes out with a lumpy battery case for it. I’d take that. I’m pleased with it overall, though. The display does strain my eyes a little bit, but not unbearably so.

Face ID hasn’t caused me the eye pain that iris scanning on my S8+ does.

My apologies for bring this thread back from the dead, but @jamezr , did you end up keeping the X? I currently have the S8+ on TMO (JoD), however, I'm looking to get into a family plan and perhaps switching to ATT (next plan) and picking up an iPhone X. Like you, I tend to get bored quickly with both OS's, but I tend to stick with Android the majority of the time. Os's aside, do you find to be a big drop off between devices (hardware)? Do you think Its best to stick with the iP8 instead?

I owned a iPhone x for a month or so. I really didn't care for it. My biggest problem (aside from $1250 price) was the size. I understand that there will be a plus this year but the x is a tiny phone if you are used to plus sized devices. For the money it was certainly no not impressive.

I also never thought face I'd was a step up from a fingerprint reader. It was annoying in the car, or when my phone was on the table.

We will see what the plus model looks like this year. However it will probably touch $1400 for top model after tax, which is a absolute no go for me.

Agreed.

If one wants an iOS device right now, IMO, the iPhone 8 Plus is the one to go for, that is the real big screen iPhone.

The iPhone 8 Plus, LG V30 and Huawei Mate10 Pro are the most underrated Flagships of 2017/early 2018.

Don't buy iPhone X and Don't buy Note8 is what Unbox Therapy said.

He sees no reason why these devices are +$1000 vs. their 2017 counterparts and competitors. End of story.

Exactly. And he's not wrong - these devices are becoming incredibly expensive...businesses have no problem adding premiums but they can make a huge deal of dropping even 1$ off products

Imagine a cell phone being in the price range of the MacBook pro when the original iPhone came out, or even the iPhone 4 with it's then incredible design, camera and state of the art display

I bought and love my iPhone X, but I wouldn't have if my cell phone carrier didn't subsidize the device half off. Carrier subsidies keep expensive phones justifiable to a point - even then I question spending 600$ on the X when I could have got an 8 for 130$ and effectively use the product the same way for my needs

(But by all means cue the "Apple can do no wrong ever" Apple fan boys for lamenting him without seeing his video or understanding his viewpoint :p)
