have you tried onlyoffice?

Never heard of it. I'll take a look.
That's a business package. Overkill for my needs.
I often write documents using Emacs and LaTeX too.
I get my Office Apps from Microsoft Update not the App Store.Anyone still having issues with Universal (non-Apple) apps re-translating after nearly every open? I just updated to the latest beta yesterday on the M1 and it appears that each of my Office Apps takes about 20 bounces on the dock to open. I'm thinking of doing a fresh reset and starting over to see if that helps if others aren't having this same issue...
Can you share the link to where you would download these from Microsoft direct? Can't seem to find them. The App Store versions are "Universal" and aren't running through Rosetta 2. Is there a difference between the versions running as Universal and these?I get my Office Apps from Microsoft Update not the App Store.
They are Apple Architecture not Intel and have been for quite a while

Regarding Microsoft Office apps, they can bounce in the dock for a while if there is an issue checking One Drive at application launch. Unless Microsoft snuck in the updates very recently, the only way to download the M1-native versions of the Office apps from Microsoft is through the Office Insider program, not the normal installer.
I have a subscription, I log in and download them from there. Then they get updated my Microsofts autoupdate.
Im confused, post 506 you said they were running through Rosetta, post 508 you said they aren't
You can see which architecture it is from Activity monitor.
Optimisation for Apple Silicon is described here - https://www.macrumors.com/how-to/tell-apps-optimized-for-m1-apple-silicon-macs/
What I have noticed with many apps, not just Office, is that the bounce is variable depending on what is in recents. If any of those are on an external drive and the drive is platter and isn't spinning then the app seems to bounce until the drive spins, even though it doesn't yet know what I want to open
Has anyone actually quantified the power of these efficiency cores? Maybe expressed as a percentage of a performance core? Eg. 25%I also only consider the M1 to have four cores considering how weak the ice storm cores are.
Just curious but why are you still using HFS+ ? Is it a legacy storage volume? If the file is on an HFS+ encrypted violume
From Apple:Has anyone actually quantified the power of these efficiency cores? Maybe expressed as a percentage of a performance core? Eg. 25%
So 25% seems to be a right estimate (Geekbench Macbook Air 2020 dual core ≈ 2000, single core M1 ≈ 1750).The four high-efficiency cores […] by themselves, these four cores deliver similar performance as the current-generation, dual-core MacBook Air at much lower power.
Apple unleashes M1
Apple today announced the biggest leap forward for the Mac with M1, the first system on a chip designed specifically for the Mac.www.apple.com
I mean, that's actually pretty impressive!From Apple:

Mine is the same the same way.Anyone still using Quicksilver for Mac? If so, when I call Quicksilver up to launch an application (control + space bar), the background color in the Quicksilver app is blue. Anyone else seeing this?
Per the notes on update screen, install the automatic update and it's the Intel, then check for updates and it then installs the AS over the top; which it doesYay - VLC has been updated...
(EDIT - note that the automatic update will still push out the Intel build, so you might need to download the AS binary)
Is Think or Swim native or does it otherwise perform well on the M1? I am using it now and wonder if it can work on the M1. I tried ATP on my i7 laptop and it is a truly terrible experience. Absolutely horrible. Also thinking about Street Edge but do not know much about it. I am looking for broker that will work when I decide to transition to Apple Silicon. I figured from your post you may know something. I need a DOM, which Fidelity does not even seem to offer. Perhaps Trade Station will work if Think or Swim only runs as a mobile version. Thanks. This is the Fidelity Active Trader Pro thread where a user is unhappy with the performance. I got it installed and started it up but didn't try to actually do anything with it. ATP uses 13% of my i7-10700 Windows system but 40-63 percent on his M1. I borrowed an M1 system to test the installation. So it may be better running this particular program on an Intel system.
Fidelity Active Trader Pro on M1 MacBook Pro
Active Trader Pro runs like trash on my M1 Air, sits somewhere between 100-250% CPU usage and is unusably laggy.forums.macrumors.com
