I wonder if Apple is delaying it for some reason (further testing, or simply just anti-Microsoft trying to keep people using iCloud Drive)...

That's not something Apple would delay, Microsoft is the one that made & published the app to the App Store. It's on them to submit the right version.
I use the standalone version and it auto updates just like the store version. You can select the silicon version from the link below.
Seems the standalone version gets updated before the store version does as well. IMHO, I don't see the benefit of using the store version over the standalone.

Given up on the App store and downloaded the standalone version. Seems OK so far.

Yeah I was talking to WABetaInfo and he said it’s still in very early development… For me the two only apps still running on Intel binaries are FB Messenger / What’s App and Citrix Workspace.
But what’s app uses 1GB of memory… it’s crazy.
Yeah lol it's not great, they should just recompile the existing version for apple silicon just to keep us going for now so we don't have to wait for their new app, although tbf ram usage is better than it was, i've seen it at over 2gb before lol

I really wish LastPass would update its my last Intel app.
I don't think i have that on my mac. I seen it start up once maybe, after install of Edge, after that Edge only updates on the background, somehow!

Sure? I have MS update for teams, OneDrive, edge and Skype.
Maybe it’s one of them that uses it I don’t know but I can see all of them in the update software.
Definitely sure, I have teams and onedrive standalone and I have the rest of the office suite from the app store, I don't have the microsoft autoupdater and both onedrive and teams seem to just update themselves
