It's been so long since the standalone version has been released that Microsoft or Apple has to be doing it on purpose.
Agree, I'm thinking of changing Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint to the stand a lone one. I'm just wondering if we are missing out on updates when we are using the Apple Store versions.

I think the standalone versions update more quickly.

yes, the version directly from Microsoft was updated to AS a few weeks ago, but the version in the App Store still still stuck on Intel. That is the weird thing.

What’s really odd is sometime in Jan or Feb, the App Store version was the M1 version or some kind of hybrid of it. I remember one of the two OneDrive processes was Apple Silicon. The other was still Intel. The next release they were both Intel again.

So you go with the MS CDN .pkg installer and additional to that the solo installers (m1 silicon OneDrive).
MS worked perfect with m1 silicon one drive when I did install one drive first as stand a lone then I did install the office installer from office.com or what the 365 address is then the 0365 installer did aske me to update the one drive and after that it was still m1 silicone.

Finally! Citrix Workspace there is a tech preview with native Apple Silicon support.. Working fine here and it is so more efficient and less cpu usage.

I'm tempted to download it, but I can't afford any downtime if there are hiccups with it. Will probably wait for the official release. Definitely keep us informed how well it's working, crashes, etc. Very eager to have this, OneDrive, and SynologyDrive as Universal apps!

@Mr47 Couldn't resist. Installed it on my laptop (will leave the release version on my desktop). Already there is an update available. Hopefully it still is the Universal one because I updated to it. Selected beta releases in preferences before doing so though.

Don't use the autoupdate feature after installing this tech preview version as it will install the Intel version (even if it is a beta version).

I ran it now for 8 hours without any issues. The main improvement is the cpu usage of Citrix = battery usage, I am happy, took them a long time!

Just canceled my ExpressVPN subscription since they still cannot tell me when (or if) they are working on a Universal app.

Does anyone have any recommendations for VPN software that is M1-native?

NordVPN is a Universal App. Works fine for me.
Just installed it and I like it much better than ExpressVPN!! The ability to automatically connect to the VPN when on non-trusted WiFi networks is awesome. Thanks for the suggestion!

@Mr47 Citrix Workspace worked well today. It's nice to leave it running since it's Universal now. Previously, I would quit the app from the menu bar so it wouldn't consume resources.

Now just four remaining apps to convert to AS: SynologyDrive, OneDrive (macOS App Store version), and RealVNC's Server & Viewer.

Yeah Citrix is working fine, really happy with it. Also using NordVPN for a while now and it works great on all Apple devices.

I got a response from Microsoft that they plan to release the OneDrive universal app to the Mac App Store within 2 months. I don’t know why it’s taking them so long, but at least there’s a timeline now.

I just tried the update and Citrix Viewer is only using 158MB!!!! Down from the 700mb/1GB

Holy cow!!! Finally, with this one I'll just be missing What's App

Old World (4X strategy game by the developer of Civilization IV) is now a universal app, at least on Steam. Epic and GOG versions are still Intel only (but run well via Rosetta 2).

Gunny, I'm not sure why everyone likes What's App. It's not secure in the least.
It’s the main “talking” platform across Europe and many countries like India. Especially in Europe it’s how iPhoné and Android users talk to each.

I haven’t got rid of both FB Messenger / What’s App because of that
Don't use the app's check for update or autoupdate feature. Even if you've selected beta versions in preferences, it will still "upgrade" you to the Intel-based version.
Thanks for the info!
