Interesting, I wrote Apple Support yesterday inquiring about the whereabouts of my key, and they emailed me this morning with the following directions:

1) Go to the Mac App Store.

2) Sign in with your Apple ID and password.

3) Under the Quick Links section in the upper-right corner, click the Redeem link.

4) On the Redeem page, enter your content code and click the Redeem button.

Unfortunately however, I can't find the "Quick Links" section in my Mac App Store window.

Anybody knows what's going on?

Apple Reps?

Like everyone else, I waited almost 4 weeks for my rMBP expecting to be one of the first to be using Mountain Lion. Now I have been waiting since very early yesterday and all Apple can do is tell me that I should have it within 72 hours and not to purchase it and expect a refund.

Does Apple not read this forum?

Most of us expected better treatment upon buying the new hardware. I have registered 10 Apple products between myself and my family members--4 in the past 3 months. I do not appreciate this treatment any more than anyone else. I wish that Apple would do something--like offer an App Store credit!

I just bought it. Gonna file a claim and say it was purchased on accident bla bla bla. then once my code comes, i punch it in and get it back in my purchases tab.

I bought it last night. Clean install and all is working well. I contacted Apple via ExpressLane and told them the purchase was an accident. It kinda was... I thought the total would be $0 (i.e. discount applied at checkout). Of course, it wasn't.

This is the reply I received just now

Thus, after reviewing the circumstances of your case, we determined that issuing you a refund for your unintentional purchase of "OS X Mountain Lion" is an appropriate exception to the Mac App Store Terms and Conditions, which state that all sales are final. You will see 21.24 USD added to your store credit balance within 48 hours. You may need to sign out of the iTunes Store and then sign back in before you see the credit in your account.

I'm pleased with this resolution. All is well... carry on.

This is in no way an official Apple forum, why would they read it?

Now, the same issue is of course on the official Apple forums (I myself participate), and I'm equally cheesed off at Apple for this serious snafu.
Very disappointed in them.. first delays, then duplicate codes, then wrong codes (for ML server), what's next? dare I ask?

This isn't my first time on a forum and usually the company who is being discussed reviews forums with large followings because we are their base. They get great ideas form such sources. They need us as much as we need them. I have gotten great help from the GM rep on the Corvette forum and would like to see some help out of Apple now.

Emailing them via express lane worked! They are refunding the purchase price. Go to express lane, and use the itunes section, then the billing/purchases subsection. Explain to them that you've had code issues and provide your serial number and order number for the purchase of ML. Got a response in about 45 mins.

Ok, checked emails and the code arrived, entered code in app store and says that it is OS X Server and cannot be downloaded, call apple care and he apologised and spoke to his manager and a new code came through, entered this in and low and behold it is now downloading as I type.

they seem to be able to request codes at their end.

it took about 27 hours for me to get mine.

anyways good luck to people still waiting.

apple always treats people in the "up to date programs" as second class. this is the same thing that happened to me with snow leopard and lion. i never get it on launch date. oh well at least it's free.

Did the rep you were speaking to send the new code themselves or just get it sent through the system??

The good thing is that we won't getting server problems cause there are to many who downloading it, I think the most guys already run ML or switch back later. So the 4GB of data gna be quick on my Mac, hopefully :D
But first I need the code

Called in about my code being invalid yesterday morning about 9:30.

Got impatient this morning and went ahead and bought ML about 9:00. Figured the download would only work on my MBP anyway, and not my Mac Mini.

About 11:30, get the email that contains the server code. Mountain Lion was already working on the Mac Mini by this point, so I went ahead and installed Server as well and it worked no problem.

12:50, I get the code for the actual Up-to-date Mountain Lion. Redeem it and everything works fine.

Do you think I should attempt to get my money back from Apple for the purchased ML or not even fool with it?

How long did it take you to get that reply? I have sent my request for a refund in a few hours ago. Hoping for the same result as you!

He put me on hold and spoke to his manager, he was about 5 minutes and then came back and said he will send a new code and then it arrived, kept on the phone till I entered the code and it started to download and again apologised for what was happening, but wouldn't give a clear answer as to what was happening or causing the issue.

and the email's were like the previous one's they had sent:

sender: Apple (noreply@apple.com)
subject: OS X Mountain Lion Up-to-Date Password Email‏

sender: Apple (noreply@apple.com)
subject: OS X Mountain Lion Up-to-Date Content Code Email‏

Hope this helps.
