25 hours here as well. I certainly didn't expect this kind of fiasco for something as simple as verifying my purchase to get a code emailed to me.

Emailing them via express lane worked! They are refunding the purchase price. Go to express lane, and use the itunes section, then the billing/purchases subsection. Explain to them that you've had code issues and provide your serial number and order number for the purchase of ML. Got a response in about 45 mins.

This worked for me as well. They will be refunding my purchase price with 5 to 7 business days. Good deal!

25 hours, nothing from apple!

I bought the MacBook Pro from their website, surely this redemption process should be automated and take seconds to verify

Not a great showing from Apple.

This.

Don't get me wrong - I can wait a bit longer for Mountain Lion, but why didn't they just unlock the update automagically for everybody who bought their Mac directly from them in the correct time frame?

did you choose billing & sales or another section

billing and sales is what I chose, and it worked. Just make sure ya give em your serial number and your confirmation code from when you submitted your up to date form.

I also did the refund via ExpressLane. I did it yesterday, actually. It's great. According to the representative I had you still need to wait for your code to install ML on other machines... but I installed (via USB created with Lion Diskmaker) on my wife's 2009 iMac just fine.

So basically I don't even care about the code at this point.

Hats off to iTunes support!

Oh Steve Jobs, if you could only see how they are running your company now that you are gone :(

Waited for a month to get my Retina Display Macbook pro, having a lot of issues with Wi-Fi on it in the past 3 days that I've had it... and now gotta wait again for ML... Sure sounds like some of the people from RIM might have been offered positions at Apple recently....

Any upgrade requests denied?

Has anyone had a case where their upgrade request was denied? I sent my upgrade request in at 6:30am PST on July 25th. Still haven't heard anything back. I purchased my Mac Mini last Friday at Fry's electronics. I just noticed that whoever programmed the bar code scanner at Fry's probably didn't configure it correctly as it picked up the S in front of the Serial Number from the label on the box. So the receipt that I sent in has an extra digit in the front of the serial number in that data field. I'm wondering if that's the hold up as the processor probably isn't smart enough to see that the rest of the digits are the same as a valid serial number.

Anything that has to do with billing. It's not rocket science. Then send the email. That's all there is to it.

I'm just hoping that I get my code by tomorrow night. I'd like to install ML tomorrow and then have the rest of the weekend to play around with it.

I'm attempting the Express Lane method asking if I can purchase it and have it refunded. Will update based on response.

I already tried AppleCare and got the generic 72 hours response...

I just got off the phone with Apple, as it's been longer than the 24 hours. He gave me the 24-72 hour line. And then he lied and said it was because of high demand. I just laughed.

Yeah, they will tell you no. They are only helping people that already purchasesd accidentally and need help fixing the problem.

Well, I decided to call Apple just like a lot of people and got the same response. They said it could take up to 72 hours. Guess I will just keep on waiting.

After reading some sites and forums, it appears we were supposed to upload a proof of purchase. When I signed up and filled out the forms yesterday afternoon, this option wasn't present to me nor was it required. I was able to get a claim code without submitting my receipt.

Has anyone who didn't upload a receipt get their code yet? I can't sign up again since they validate on serial number - it says it was already registered. What should I do?

I submitted before that option was present and I received my code, so there is hope.

hope you get it soon.

I had no option whatsoever to submit a receipt or proof of purchase... Oh and now when I try to resubmit it says I already claimed an upgrade with that serial number -- but I still have no code!!
