Absolutely! Any particular landmarks?

Hmm...Just a few views of the area near the Whitestone Expressway, Union Street, maybe Citi Field. I'm trying to think if there's anything else I desperately want to see...oh yeah, a zoom in of the 3D buildings near Eighth Avenue & West 53rd Street in Manhattan. Wanna see what was updated over there near my office. ^^

WOOOOOOW! Oh my god, my neighborhood looks great! They even modeled the garages between the buildings! And the pool club's pool is there!

*convulses on floor*
[doublepost=1566586100][/doublepost]Even MORE interestingly...the previous parking lot details, which were first added a few months ago, are now corrected and more accurate.

If I had to guess, the parking lot data was TomTom information that was added a few months back. Now that it's Apple's own info, it's refined, and backed up by the street data they collected.
[doublepost=1566586496][/doublepost]Can I get one more shot? Same area as the second picture, just a bit more visible to the north and west, including the shopping center with the Stop and Shop just off Farrington Street.

Gotta love your enthusiasm! It is pretty cool. I want to get out there and try it out on CarPlay.

It's all over Reddit, too. A lot of people are seeing it now. Someone suggested turning off the phone and turning it back on. I tried, but still nothing. :\

My phone is the only device in my house that has it. They could easily torn it off again too.

I still haven't received the update. But here's a good and bad observation from the other day:

Good - While making a long drive from Long Island to Manhattan, Apple Maps suggested faster routes while driving not once -- but twice, to reflect changing traffic conditions. I was impressed by that. My ETA was nearly spot on.

Bad - POI searching through CarPlay still needs work, apparently. I asked Siri for directions to White Castle. It listed around ten different locations for me...but left out the one closest to me! That made no sense. As I've done in the past, I search more specifically by saying "White Castle on Northern Boulevard in Bayside". That still brought up around ten locations, but included the one I wanted.

Worse, yesterday I asked for directions to McDonald's. It listed around ten locations near me, but for some reason left out the one I actually wanted to go to. So I refined my search, as I've successfully done in the past, by saying "McDonald's on Northern Boulevard in Bayside". But this time, it produced the exact same results, leaving out the one I wanted to go to.
[doublepost=1566646957][/doublepost]Anyone have any more screenshots I can wake up to? lol

I've actually had dreams about these maps within the past week. One time I dreamt that I suddenly had the new maps, but when I zoomed out, everything had a strange blue tint that was obscuring the new details.

I need a vacation.

This has been my biggest complaint as well...it has the POI’s, but the parsing is really screwed up.

I used to be able to say, “directions to White Castle along my route” and it would do exactly that. And the best part, NOT show the ones that may be closer but in the opposite direction.

There’s another thing I’ve noticed while playing around my old stomping grounds in NJ. While the new Maps area has every damn building as far as I can see, if 3D satellite mapping has not been completed, they are still just “boxes” with no proper roof pitch details present.

I now think flyover/3D satellite is probably secondary since it obviously is t a necessity, but it will sure complete the experience.

I’m ordering a CarPlay unit for my older Audi today. More for music than mapping, but will be nice to have.

Gotta love this thread! No kale devotees here! Good ol’ red meat (???) White Castles and McDonalds!

Drove around last night. All the buildings in town are just boxes, as @MozMan68 noted. They match their footprints, but there is no detail on them or pitched roofs. The only places that have roof detail are those landmark buildings, like the Empire State Building that are rendered darker in color (probably because they have the greater detail). Have you heard that all structures are going to get this treatment?

Got the update on my iPhone X on iOS13 but not my iPad. My wife and son do not have it yet either.

I’m amazed at the level of detail not only on the phone but in CarPlay. The various pan outs when navigating make it so much easier to follow. It’s crisper with so much detail. Haven’t really tried it in a heavy traffic situation to see how traffic and routing will be but I’m super excited for the new maps.

They should as it is prevalent in other areas. I think the issue is that it can only be automated to a point.

Can’t wait to head to New York City this week!

I’m looking at the other, earlier updated areas, and they look like my area. E.g., here’s Cupertino from “old” maps on my iPad. The buildings are still “blocky”.

"Old" Apple Maps, in areas with 3D buildings, did have homes with vaulted roofs. But they seemed to be randomly applied, and didn't actually match the home. The "new" Maps 3D buildings all have flat roofs, but the overall shape and detail with the building dimensions are much better.

I'd say a huuuuuge chunk of New York City properties are tall and have flat roofs anyway, so it's not something I'd notice while driving.

Nice detail...

29b507f3348681e0a5a2a28e70b45bcf.jpg

Even picked up the Dunkin POI!

The detail on these maps geographically is stunning. Where before watercourses were more or less marked ok, they are now rendered in exquisite detail, down to small bends and oxbows in minor rivers. Parking lots have all the lanes marked. Airports have runways and taxiways depicted. Grammar school baseball fields have the diamond fully rendered. I could go on, but the list would be too long.

Awesome work Apple!

On my x and the latest beta maps has delays and crashes along with google maps.

I just reset location and network settings to see if that makes a difference.
