Got the Midwest and West as well!

No Look Around in the Chicago area yet, in case anyone was wondering.

Got the Midwest and West also, and on all 3 of my devices! I'm super excited to explore the maps and to use them over while I'm doing a couple trips over the next couple weeks. :D

Unless I’m missing my guess, Apple is using seasonal aerial/satellite imagery in Maps. The imagery in my area is Autumn. We’ll know for sure come winter.

Pretty impressed in the few times I've used it this afternoon. There were two roads about 2 miles from my house that met as a pretty standard intersection (formed a "T"). They converted it into a single road that curved and it only opened that way at the end of this Summer. It is already updated on the new Maps even though I doubt an Apple Car has been through there in the past few months...maybe.

What really amazes me is the detail in service roads/parking lot roads...they have them all. Mods on Waze would never let me add ones that I thought were important, while Apple has every stinking row.

Can't wait for the other layers like stop signs/traffic lights and Look Around to be added eventually.

The satellite images are very outdated in my area, so unfortunately a lot of buildings are missing in the new imagery.

Can you clarify? Are you saynig that since the satelite images are out of date, the buildings represented on the map view are also out of date? Not added even after the Apple Maps car went through? Pics??

Used turn-by-turn this morning with the new maps. Did not see the stop light or stop sign icons at intersections. Wondering if that's just going to take some time, or did anyone who lives in other updated areas notice those icons as soon as the new maps went live for your area?

Also, when looking at the Look Around coverage area for the cities that have it already, I have some sneaking suspicion that when it's released for Chicago...my town will probably be juuuuusssst outside the coverage area 😂 I'm 50 miles away from the city, but we're still considered the "Chicago Metro area". So maybe we'll luck out and be at the very edge of the initial coverage area

Stop sign/traffic light implementation seems to be associated with the "general" area around Look Around locations. It's obviously a separate layer of info, but they do seem linked which makes sense since their AI and human confirmation of those areas would be linked since it is photograph based.

Here are some pictures of Google Maps vs. Apple Maps in my town. I remember Google’s images are outdated too, but I sent feedback in letting them know and they updated them pretty quick.

Did the same for Apple Maps and nothing yet. I also don’t think an Apple Maps car has been through here honestly. I’ve never seen one before. I live in a rural area near Portland, OR.

That makes sense. So it may be a while, then.

What are your thoughts on the area that might be next? I was reading Justin O'Bierne's site last night and he was giving his thoughts/reasons for what might be next. If they're going by population, the Southeast would be next for sure. If it was land area that they're going by, it could either be the Central US or Alaska. (He even mentioned Alaska separately because its area is almost as large as what remains of the Central US. I also think Alaska would be an easy one to knock out, because in terms of road complexity...Alaska isn't terribly complex. Easy in terms of road complexity and also would knock out a huge land area...win-win)! Despite that though, I don't think Alaska will be on its own. I think it will be either the Southeast or the Central...and Alaska will come with one of them. (Much like the Midwest and PNW came together). But then he also mentions that they still have to roll out the US territories as well...

I would also recommend taking a look at his site again. (Look specifically at his update page regarding the Midwest and West). He gives a pretty interesting idea on the why behind the testing period.

I've been experiencing a strange Siri glitch on Apple CarPlay over the last two days. Anytime CarPlay is reading a text message to me, it concludes each text by reading aloud what appears to be Apple Maps instructions from a previous drive. "Turn slight right onto Cross Island Parkway Frontage Road, and then keep left." It does this every single time, after every text message, reading off the same direction. It's bizarre. And I don't even remember the last time I was even near the Cross Island Parkway.

I just downloaded iOS 13.2.3 this morning, so I guess I'll see if this update fixed that when I go to work this evening.

What is the information on Look Around? Is there a public date for how many or what cities they will release by when? Is it select cities only, or is it supposed to eventually evolve to every city? Will it include suburbs eventually too, or is it just the urban areas?

No release dates although it is clear that major cities are being introduced first. There is no indication that it will be limited to just cities though. Like Street View, it will be everywhere eventually.

I see that seasonal hours in POI data is in the Wiki post. Anyone know where though? There are a few businesses in my area that are open seasonally and I don't see anywhere to report hours as "seasonal". The only option I see is to just edit/add hours per day of the week. Nothing that would suggest seasonal. This would be an issue with a two businesses in my area in particular, because after Christmas, they are totally closed until the spring, but without anything to suggest that hours are seasonal, the POI info will continue to show open hours as they are now. (For example, say someone is looking at the info in mid-January. These businesses are closed for the winter, but the hours would still say 9a-6p, for instance...leading people unfamiliar with the area to think it was actually open). We have the same sort of thing with a place that is only open mid-September through the first week of November, and then it's closed until next September. Its POI still says "open" during hours...you'll be pretty disappointed at this point if you try and go there, thinking it's open 😂

I'm not sure, but they may be limited to the business owner's option to edit on the Maps Connect site.

¿Qué?!!! Look Around has been available since we got the new maps nearly two months ago!! Why tell me now?

Also, I’m still experiencing that weird CarPlay texting glitch. The update to iOS 13.2.3 didn’t help, and neither did a network reset, nor multiple reboots.
